the school is is great. the lecture halls are very modern and gives enough space for a laptop/ ipad. also the labs are very hi tech too

It’s nice and quite close but a good walk on a nice day. Staff are lovely and at collegiate where I’m studying it’s scenic around with gardens and lots of trees.
A really supportive welcome into the university with great communication and continuing events to get involved with!
The university has great opportunities to get involved and good support for students if they need
Their strongest point is their placement and graduate job opportunities. They have partnerships with some of the biggest companies in the world, and they're really good at helping you secure interviews.
Both Campuses are very well kept and clean

Very helpful staff. Teachers are great and are willing to help you at anytime. Many student societies for people with different interests and the student union constantly reaches out to all students to try and help in any way possible...

Wide range of subjects available to study. 24/7 library with meeting rooms that can be booked for individual work or group works. Close to the city center for a break in-between lessons. Wide range of clubs and societies that can be joined.

We love that both our campuses are located so close to the city centre, and there are a great range of cafes, with student discounts, located within walking distance. When you’re finished studying for the day, there’s a huge variety of city centre places to visit, from bars and clubs to galleries and independent shops. Just awful. Been made to feel like I've committed some kind of mortal sin as I asked the SU to campaign on improving student accommodation. The only interaction I've had with SU staff in Collegiate campus was being told rudely that I was sitting in the SU area and "it's for students union staff to use, not students" . The other students are openly hostile to mature students joining in and communicating with them regarding course related stuff. Avoid.

The teaching staff for my degree programme are brilliant! The syllabus material and module content are really well designed with a more modern (less theoretical) approach to teaching. It even has its own applied teaching law firm; prospective students aspiring to become solicitors can get practical experience and insight into the law in practice with SHUs on-campus teaching law firm. 10/10.
The university is okay! If you want to save on living expenses Sheffield is the place for you.

Good teaching staffs and a good campus
Sheffield Hallam University has excellent reputation. In addition, University's splendid facilities are also a major attraction to me. In my experience, I know for certain that good facilities can make a difference in a student’s life and learning experience. Also the postgraduate education at this university is beyond textbook and lecture rooms, but also focus on personal and professional development of the student. Furthermore, Sheffield Hallam University has a different approach in engineering techniques for students and learning is organised around theories, practice which will help in the future.
The fact that I can relate to people from different ethnic and social groups is a good one for me. The school amenities are on point and the lecturers are always ready to assist you with anything
Its an excellent place to study. I learn allot from this university. Made plenty of friends . It is very close to my accommodation and university is in the heart of Sheffield where we can access the railway station bus stops national express gyms swimming pool area and much more i hope more people come to Sheffield Hallam university to explore the beauty they offer.
It’s a very good university for the international students to study.
Good collection of books and 24x7 accessible library. All kind of leisure activities available to students. Supportive staff's for everything expected. High speed internet connectivity. All campus in walking distance from transportation hubs.

Great university. Good location and great infrastructure.
Not much to complain about at all. Very happy with Sheffield Hallam. They prioritise sociability quite a lot with a wide range of societies, clubs and a very inviting campus in general which makes it easy for first years to settle in and make friends. The staff are friendly and helpful and the same goes for the teachers who are eager to support you inside and outside the classroom. Career opportunities are advertised everywhere which is incredibly helpful for students especially in the current climate. The library is excellent with seemingly endless reading material as well as PCs and printing facilities. On-campus internet is reliable, fast, and easy to connect to. My only complaint is the campus food & drink is quite expensive, but due to the university's great location in the city centre you're never too far from somewhere to get a cheap bite to eat. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Sheffield Hallam to anyone who's looking for a superb uni life experience.

Firstly, Sheffield is a student friendly city! Studying at Sheffield Hallam University is a great experience. A very good infrastructure and teaching staff are some of the most basic positives. Added to that external services like Hallam help, Student union, career centre makes life more easier. Highly recommended.
The handling of COVID has been particularly poor. So many strikes I can't count and now I am graduating at a swimming pool. Really wish I had gone elsewhere.

the teaching quality is the main thing with this university. truly amazing teaching and most of the teachers actually care about you as an individual student; if you're having any issues you can always speak to them.

BA Hons Sociology Undergraduate. Pros: - + Teaching staff are excellent and bend over backwards to help with coursework, put on extra sessions, signpost you to help, help you evaluate ideas. Can't praise them enough. + Student Support Advisors will help you with any pastoral support and referring for extra support etc. Again can't praise my SSAs enough. + Liz from Inclusive support runs excellent allotment sessions Fridays, perfect to destress. + 24 hour library opening and a beautiful campus at Collegiate. + Security staff in libraries are always friendly, polite and will always do their best to help. Cons: - - Students union is toxic, has no bar / cafe facilities just an empty space and offices for staff & SU Officers. - Lack of academic society or any extra curricular activities at Collegiate campus. - Lack of any students union activities which appeal to mature students. - Younger students on the course respond aggressively and negatively to mature students on course

Honestly? As a creative (games) arts student, I feel like my want to go into the industry has been utterly destroyed by the way the Uni and the staff (mainly those at the top of the course) chose to run my experience. There is clear favouritism with 3D being encouraged rather than 3D and whether you're a character artist or prop/environment artist, you will get more help being in the latter. My experience has been poor and my teacher for character art was one of the only few exceptions of this shoddy course. Go somewhere else if you want to be a character artist!

It’s a good uni and the lecturers work so hard but the management is not that good. Students union is like a graveyard for past enjoyment. Library facilities are great and open 24/7 even Xmas day. Enjoyed my time here but it has been hindered by the pandemic

I worked in the Cantor building, which is decent but a bit disappointing mainly due to my course. The rooms were uninspiring considering its an art course (Game Art). Compared to other Hallam buildings I've visited, this could be greatly improved I think. I also never figured out how to get the wifi to work either and data was pretty bad there, but oh well.

Pretty good uni, never used or been to student union so cant really review it.
Sheffield hallam has facilitated my master degree to a great standard and has supported me throughout my degree
I want lab sessions recorded ..coz assignments are always on the lab sessions and sometimes people can't clear out all the things in lab ..so if u record that one it will help us to watch it again and again and understand it very well
Again really good, easy to join clubs and societies and everyone is welcome and friendly !!

Really good uni, facilities are well maintained, the library is good.
Good communal social areas where you can study, have a break or chat with your friends.

Overall experience has been good, there are lots of resources available for you to use and tutors put in effort to help you. Although not much going on at student union.

Our tutors are specialists in their field and are passionate about providing support and guidance to allow you to reach your full potential and I'm pleased you've found this to be the case. During the pandemic, the Sheffield Hallam Students' Union has aimed to provide support, services and facilities virtually for students where possible. Due to the challenges surrounding social activities throughout the Pandemic, the Students' Union needed to limit the number of activities they provided in order to comly with government guidelines and prioritise students and staff safety. However, the Students' Union have resumed their offer of a range of exciting events and activities you can take part in, as well as acting as a base for over 100 student-run Societies. You can head to the Sheffield Hallam Students' Union website to see the latest events, as well as the support services they provide.
