Sheffield Hallam is a lovely university with lots of great facilities to help all students
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave your review and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. I'm happy to hear you value our facilities, in the next 5 years over £220m in our facilities. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
Good but expect lecturers to strike for an entire month
Hi, Thank you for leaving your review. I'm sorry if you are a student that has been affected by the strikes that have occured this academic year. The university cannot prevent or forsee strikes by trade unions such as UCU and we try our best to mitagate these unfortunate circumstances for our students as your learning is our priority. We try our best to reassure students that the Unviersity and its services will remain open as usual and to schedule alterantive staffing arrangements, with the majority of teaching taking place as planned. You can find more information about how we preventing impact of strike action on our students here. It is also worth noting that other Universities will be affected by strike action and this is not just an isolated incident at SHU, however we do aplogise for any inconvenience caused to our students. I hope your enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam, good luck with your studies! - Ella
The campus and facilities are very good and up to date, have a lot of good equipment relevant to my course and helps with the practical side.
Hi, I am happy to hear you like our campus and facilities, particularly for your course! In the next 5 years we plan to invest over £220 million in our campuses and facilities to improve teaching and the student experience. Thank you for taking time to leave your review and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
Great uni. Covers everyone’s needs
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave your review and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. I'm happy to hear you think we are an inclusive university. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
Clubs and societies are very expensive and pretty poorly advertised. The campus has decent facility’s and overall it is an ok university
Thank you for taking time to leave your review. I am sorry to hear that you find the clubs and societies offered by our Student's Union too expensive and poorly advertised. Societies main source of funding is raised through memeberships which helps them buy resources and arrange events and go to competitions - therefore this is reflected in the price. We hold a freshers fair at the Student's Union in September and a welcome back fair in January to give you the opportunity to explore all the clubs and socities we offer. These clubs and societies are ran by students for students so will not always be advertised throughout the year, but if you head to the Student's Union website there is all the contact information you need to join at any time. Good luck with the rest of your studies, I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam! - Ella
It’s a great uni to gain lots of experience
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave your review and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
Good university in a great city.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave your review and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
Sheffield Hallam is a good university all round but there are aspects which could be improved upon for example making sure students are up to date with everything they need to know.
Hi, thanks for leaving your review. Each student has an academic advisor they can go to if they are stuggling work at anytime of the year, advisors will also listen to your concerns and offer advice on resources to use to enhance your learning. Course reps are elected on your course to gather feedback from students on teaching, assessments, support and whatever concerns you have regarding your studies - they will then raise these concerns to resolve issues on your course, so this is a good point of call if you do not feel you are recieving the information required. Good luck with the rest of your studies. - Ella
I have loved my first year at Hallam, the work spaces are amazing and the help and support that has been available to me throughout my time has really made moving across the UK ten times easier.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave this review. I am pleased to hear you are loving Hallam and it's facilities! We are glad you have accessed the support we offer our students with our 3 dedicated advisors and are happy that our support has helped you settle into the city. Good luck with your studies! - Ella
One of the best universities in the UK
Hi, Thank you for leaving this review and I hope you are enjoying your time at Hallam. - Ella
Absolutely dreadful experience. The university gives zero cares about its students and leaves them to struggle and suffer even when asking for help. The tutors are absolutely awful in this sense also, although a couple of good ones just couldn't do enough for their pupils ;but are very hard to come by. The university also doesn't care about its staff. They are full of excuses, the experience is dreadful. No one is kind and helpful. Tutors crap on the students life goals and aspirations if they're not in line with their own personal beliefs. Some tutors are disgusting and call out disabled students and have told some it's their own provlem for being sick, and induced panic attacks in others purposefully and not listened. Awful.
Hi, Thank you for taking time to leave this review. I am sorry to hear you have struggled at Hallam and do not feel supported with this. Every student has 3 support advisors; 1 academic, 1 personal and 1 careers who you are able to go to at any point during your degree to find support for these areas or advice on where else you can recieve support. We are glad to hear you have experienced some excellent support from a few of your tutors, however we apologise if you do not feel this is reflected in other staff. We welcome students from all backgrounds and support them with whatever they aspire to do beyond university, so we are dissapointed that you have been made to feel like this. If you believe there is an issue discrimination by disabilty then please report these concerns internally so we can deal with the issue and find out who is accountable. Thank you, I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam. - Ella
Nice university as compared to my town university
Hi, thank you for leaving this review, we are glad you are enjoying your time at Hallam. Good luck with the rest of your studies! - Ella
Fantastic lecturers that encourage independence but are always there for support if you need them. Encourages a practical approach allowing you to gain a lot of skills that are useful in postgrad study and employment.
Hi, thank you so much for taking time to leave this review. I am pleased to hear that your lecturers have been encouraging and supportive throughout your studies - this is something Hallam takes pride in and is reflected in our recent title of University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Sunday Times Good University Guide. I am also pleased to hear that you value our practical approach of applying knowledge to real life projects and work placements - this is something we encourage all our students to get involved with. We work with 1000 organisations to provide 23,000 placements each year and our industry connections are continously improving and expanding globally to provide our students with the best experience ahead of graduation. Good luck with the rest of your studies! - Ella
Very bad they went on strike for 2 weeks twice
Hi, thanks for leaving your review. I'm sorry if you are a student that has been affected by the strikes that have occured this academic year. The university cannot prevent or forsee strikes by trade unions such as UCU and we try our best to mitagate these unfortunate circumstances for our students as your learning is our priority. Pretty disappointed in SHU. We spend £9250 a year to go here and yet they still try to charge you for things such as printing or books. The careers advice centre was also hopeless, many students struggle to find jobs and they don’t even try to help you with it. On top of this there are a lot of strikes at important times of the year which are very bad for people’s grades / hand ins. Finally the student union is the most expensive bar in town when everyone else’s student union is subsidised.
Thank you for taking time to leave this review. I am sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with your experience at Hallam. In terms of printing services and academic books not being provided - this is something that is similar across other unviersities and we do offer support for those struggling to finance unviersity. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with our careers advice centre - we offer lots of opportunites and help for students seeking jobs after they graduate, there are regular events and every student recieves a personal careers advisor that they can speak to whenever they need to. We cannot prevent or forsee strikes by trade unions such as UCU and we try our best to mitagate these unfortunate circumstances for our students as your learning is our priority. We try our best to reassure students that Unviersity and its services will remain open as usual and to schedule alterantive arrangements with the majority of teaching taking place as planned. It is also worth noting that other Universities will be affected by strike action and this is not just an isolated incident at SHU, however we do aplogise for any inconvenience caused to our students. Our Student's Union is ran by students for students, so I'm sorry to hear that you do not feel it is affordable. In the next 5 years increasing investment will be made to enhance the SU and it's services. Good luck with the rest of your studies, we hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam! - Ella
This university has lots to offer to it’s students.
Thank you for you review. Good luck with your studies.
Great teachers and facilities, good all round university.
Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear you value the teaching and facilities here at Hallam. Our recent award of Uni of the Year for Teaching Quality 2020 in the Sunday Times Good University Guide is a testement to out teaching staff. We will be investing more and more into our facilities and study spaces over the next five years to improve the student and staff experience.
Love this university. It’s helped build my confidence, shape me as a person and develop my knowledge. Doesn’t deserve the stick it gets from uni of and I find it very belittling when people like me who simply learn differently to them find the non-Russel group unis to be a joke. People learn differently, not an issue
Hi, thank you for taking the time to write this review! It's great to hear about your experience of Hallam and we are pleased you think we have contributed to your personal and career development. We have a great support network for our students who each recieve an academic, personal and career advisor they can reach out to whenever they need to and it sounds like you have taken advantage of this support. Good luck with the rest of your studies and career beyond university. - Ella
Please refer to my previous comments about how unsafe this area is for students.
Thank you for your review, unfortunatley we cannot see your previous comments as reviews are annonymised. Please feel free to write a further review and I would be happy to respond to your comments regarding safety around campus.
I study Games Design/Art and the facilities available to me are great! The city campus feels safe and inviting as a first year student.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We try to ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to access great facilities, which ever course they are studying, so its great to hear that the facilities are suitable for the needs you have on your course. All the best for the rest of our studies.
Great experience and beautiful campus

During my expirience I found both educationak development and developed a greater insight into the professional world and what career would best fit me. Thank you for taking the time to write this review - we are pleased to hear you value Sheffield Hallam and the student life we help flourish here, including our careers and employability support! Good luck with your studies!
Amazing freshers events. Societies are really friendly and easy to join (BUT not cheap). Really cheap amazing accommodation. Staff are so helpful - even replying over Xmas.
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave this review! We are pleased to hear you liked the freshers programme and extra-curricular activities at our Student's Union and that you think our accomodation is value for money. We are always extra pleased to hear praises about our staff and their hard work to support students throughout the whole year. Good luck with the rest of your studies. - Ella
Friendly atmosphere and supportive staff who want nothing but the best for you.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we are happy to hear you value the supportiveness of our staff.
Spent 3 Years here studying journalism, it was the worst 3 years of education I've ever had. Course ranking dropped from 8th to 36th within the three years which highlights the glaring issues. Teachers don't care at all, favoritism with students is riphe facilities are basic, library's a joke, the course offered no trips of practical insights. I could go into so much more detail but it wouldn't be worth anyone's time reading it. Its a shambolic university and a completely joke of a course. I recommend everyone to go to university of Sheffield or to stay away from hallam completely.
Hi, I'm really sorry to hear you've had a bad experience on your course at Sheffield Hallam. I will pass your comments onto the Journalism staff as we continue to improve our teaching quality and versitility of our courses. I hope you enjoyed student life in Sheffield and other extra-curricular opportunities offered at Hallam. Good luck with your future endeavours.
Good university, which provides sufficient support to the students.
Thank you for your review! We take pride in our support services and the support out Academics provide as well as our teaching quality, and we are so pleased that we won the University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times Good University Guide 2020! - Rachel
The best university for a hands-on experience at learning Computer Networks, Security and Forensics! Yes we have CISCO Switches, Routers, Firewalls and more all at our labs available for student use anytime!
Thank you for taking time to write this review. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoy the applied learning aspect of our courses and our industry standard equipment and systems that help students achieve their full potential! We are planning to invest £220m in new facilites the next 5 years to help us continue to improve the effectiveness of our teaching for current and prospective students! - Ella
BEST UNI EVER XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you so much for leaving this review, we love your enthusiasm! - Ella
Great Universities with a wonderful location, friendly and helpful staffs.
Hello, thank you for your review. I'm so happy to hear that enjoyed your time studying at Sheffield Hallam, Sheffield really is a lovely city location. Rachel
I’ve really enjoyed my time so far at SHU! THe student support services are great compared to what I’ve seen at some other universities, and there’s great employability options, like years in industry and study abroad.
Hello, thank you for your review. I'm so happy to hear that you had such a positive experience whilst studying at Sheffield Hallam. We believe that a year in industry or the ability to study abroad is great for our students to experience during their studies, building them into the best graduates they can be. Rachel
Excellent University. Inspiring lecturers who genuinely care about you.
Hello, that you for your review. I'm so happy to hear that you had such a positive experience whilst studying at Sheffield Hallam. We pride ourselves on our excellent teaching staff who helped us to win The Sunday Times University of the Year for Teaching quality 2019. Goodl luck with the rest of your studies or with any future plans, Rachel
My experience was different from most. I discovered this during my second year when I was looking for a work placement, when I spoke to my careers service advisor and handed them my CV and I quote "This is the worst CV I have ever seen, I recommend that you don't look for work placement", which I ignored I got one anyway. Fast forward to the end of my third year I was informed by careers advice they would assist me for a further year to help me find a job. Five months after leaving I found a job through the uni's job search went to the interview and I was informed that job was only for post graduates. I asked careers if this would be a case for all job assisted through them and they said most likely. So in summery, SHU will care for you as long as you pay them.
Hello, Thank you for your review, i'm sorry that you have not had the best experience with our careers team. Our careers team offer a wider range of support, including CV, job application and interview preparation providing top tips for success in these areas whilst job hunting. They also have a wide range of Jobs and placements on Unihub, lots of which are great for graduates, I am very sorry that you did not find this useful. Our careers team support students all through their studies as well as for 5 years after they graduate. We appreciate your feedback and I will pass this on to the relevant team in order for this not to happen in the future. Good luck with your future endeavours. Thank you Rachel
Absolutely amazing! Love my time here!!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam and good luck with your studies! Thanks, Ella

Perfect university. All the facilities are very good. The wifi is really bad though. I am unable to log in on most of my devices and the ones that i can is really slow.
Thanks for your glowing review, we really appreciate the recgonition of our amazing facilities! I am sorry to hear about your issues with the wifi connection, we try to ensure that our wifi service is as effective as it can be, however, at times the wifi can become slower with the amount of students on campus, I hope this has not caused you too much of a problem. If you continue to struggle with the wifi connection on campus I suggest visiting a Hallam Help desk to see if they can assist with this. Good luck with the rest of your studies, don't forget there is so much more you can get involved with while you're here at Hallam! Thanks, Ella

Im a 1st year student and have been made very welcome here with supoort and advice from various places
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I am very glad that you have been made feel so welcome to Sheffield Hallam during your first semester studying here. All the best for the rest of your studies. Rachel
Decent uni, if you actually try and learn instead of expecting to be mouth fed. Could do with upgrades here and there in terms of facility.
Thank you for your review, We have invested £100m in our facilities in the last 5 years and plan to invest a further £220m in the next 5 years to upgrade our facilities, including new buildings for Sheffield Business School, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Student's Union refurbishment.
My first year has been great so far
We're so glad to hear you are enjoying your time here at Sheffield Hallam, best of luck with the rest of your studies!
My experience has been positive. The lectures are always helpful by providing sessions on how to reference and use online services like blackboard and pebble pad, to aid my reflective learning. I have found the wifi to be slow or lacking in certain lecture rooms, which can affect teaching time but overall it isnt a problem.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad to hear that you have had a positive expreience with us here at Sheffield Hallam, and that you have found your lecturers to be very helpful in supporting your studies. We try to ensure that our wifi service is up to scratch for our students use, however, at times the wifi can become slower with the amount of students on campus, I hope this has not caused you too much of a problem. Thank you, Rachel
Great university with great facilities, canteens , communal areas and library facilities . All of the modern buildings provide a great environment aswell as the older buildings but less so . Great staff and great deliverance of lectures from all staff . Great uni!
This is music to our ears - we are so pleased that our campuses and academic staff meet, if not excel, your student expectations. We have invested £100m in our facilities in the last 5 years and plan to invest a further £220m in the next 5 years, including new buildings for Sheffield Business School, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Student's Union refurbishment that future students alike will massively benefit from. Thanks!
Very good uni but not much disability support for disabilities you can’t necessarily see.
It's wonderful to hear that you are enjoying your experience at Hallam, but I'm sorry to hear that you think there is not enough support for this type of disability. Every student is assigned a student support advisor in their first few weeks here - they focus on your wellbeing and help you access specialist services when you need them most, so it is definitley worth checking in with them so they can point you in the right direction in terms of disability support. We have recently shared a great video about additional Disabled Student Support at Hallam which outlines the services we offer. I will raise your concern with the disability support services to ensure that this type of disability is increasingly taken into consideration.
Absolutely love the University great place to spend your time and it’s full of support
We're so pleased to hear how passionate you are about Hallam, that you love spending your time on campus and that you have recieved great support from us. We hope you enjoy the rest of your journey here!
Such great resources and support from staff.
We are glad to hear this, enjoy the rest of your time at Hallam!
SHU is full of supportive, understanding and down to earth staff, enabling pupils to really achieve their full potentials. Thank you!
We're really pleased to hear that you are enjoying your time here at Hallam - we take pride in our teaching quality, in fact we just won University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times Good University Guide 2020! Don't forget there is so much more that you can get involved in to enhance your student experience here, including plenty of events and extra-curricular activities ran by our Students' Union.
My time at Sheffield hallam has been amazing. Everyone is so helpful and kind and it's so easy to find my way around
Great to hear.
Awful support from faculty regarding mental health and specific difficulties I faced. Career advisors gave me one suggestions - do an unpaid internship with us (bursary available up to a certain amount). I felt isolated, lonely and at the lowest points of my life at Hallam. They don’t care about student safety.
I'm really sorry that you've had this experience here, as our support services and wellbeing services are here to help you and offer advice, guidance and support especially when you need it most. This network of Hallam Help points, advisers, safe spaces and online help tools is available. I will feed this back to the support services as you shouldn't be left feeling like this.
Good place to learn I study mental health nursinf
Really pleased to hear it and glad you're enjoying your course and time here
All staff are lovely and facilities are okay but the union is the worst I have ever seen
Thank you for feeding back. The students' union is run by the students for the student so I'm sorry you feel it isn't all you would like it to be. I will pass your feedback onto the union and would be interested to hear if your opinion was around the spaces, services, or activities the union offers.
Absolutely diabolical university. Rude lecturers, terribly organised course (mental health nursing)
I'm really sorry to hear this. I will pass this onto the department to review, and would encourage you to feedback specific concerns to them so they can address these to improve your experience (and future students).
Great staff, Excellent teaching resources and methods what's not to love
Great to hear thanks. We've just won an award for our teaching quality (Sunday Times Good University Guide named us University of the Year for Teaching Quality - 2020 edition) so really pleased to hear you're enjoying it.
Sheffield Hallam is quite nice, the city campus buildings are quite close and easy to find.
Lovely to hear, thanks.
Not sure what it is like for other courses but, I am currently studying media (BA Hons) and my course is extremely disorganised. We didn't get our real timetables until today when we were meant to get them in July (I'm starting my second year and it said that we would get our timetables early). &Last term they told us halfway through some work we were doing that it was formative, when it said on the module page that it was summative. I also felt like on the making media module that the person teaching my group was marking very harshly when art is subjective and can't be put in one box, you can't mark something that is meant to be creative down just because it's not the way you wanted it to look. The computers in the media building (cantor) are also not fit for purpose. They are slow and unresponsive. It's supposed to be a media building but the computers are from the stone age.
I'm really sorry to hear this about your course. This is something I'll pick up with the Department of Media Arts and Communication to find out why there was a delay with timetables being released, and contradictory information given about your modules. We aim to ensure our IT equipment in buildings is up to scratch so I'll also pass on your thoughts about the equipment in the building.
Lovely campus but not enough support for mental health. Student union could be improved compared to other universities, it is disappointing
Thank you for letting us know. Glad you like the campus. We offer 3 dedicated advisers (student support, academic and employability) to help offer personal support throughout the uni life. Support for mental health is an area the support services are there to help with while you're at uni so if you feel there could be improvement I'll pass this onto the team. Our Hallam Insiders have written a mental health support blog which may help highlight some of the services available. The students' union is run by the students for the student so I'm sorry you feel that the union needs improvement and I will pass your feedback onto the union.
Overall great facilities however poor students union
Pleased to hear that you enjoyed our facilities. The students' union has plenty going on and is run by the students for the student so I'm sorry you feel that the union wasn't up to scratch for you. I will pass your feedback onto the union
Going into my second year and the university have been helpful and supportive with my learning
Really pleased to hear it.
Great environment with great people
Thank you
Amazing experience. Assisted me from day one in relation to all necessary aspects. Joined a society and was great but I’ve drifted apart from it, not because of them but myself not having the free time. Many career opportunities that can assist in my CV in future. Professors have assisted me outside of the lectures if I’ve struggled to understand some aspects as much as others, gone above and beyond.
Great to hear you had such a good time here. We have over 100 student-run societies and it's absolutely a great way to meet people with the same interests as you especially when you first start uni.
Had the best time here! Such a fun university with great facilities and great teachers. Would love to go back.
Thank you so much and as it happens we've just won an award for our teaching as we've been named The Sunday Times Good University Guide University of the Year for Teaching Quality in its 2020 edition.
Great career support from my course leaders
That's great to hear thanks
My degree is in Psychology and at Collegiate campus which had a new heart of campus building and psychology equipment.
I'm glad you've enjoyed the new heart of the campus building and benefitted from the psychology equipment. Thanks, Bridget
Legit the worst course ever. I dont know what I paid for to be honest - no support, just left to be confused by the teachers despite asking for help and support with the course, I was just left to fall further behind - meaning I couldn't focus on what I wanted to in the 3rd year. The classes were just essentially show-and-tell lessons of homework, considering it was an Animation course, we were taught nothing about how to actually animate, use the programs, or anything. Promised so much on open days: traditional pencil animation lessons, regular access to cintiqs, trips to multiple animation festivals - none were delivered except one poor trip to manchester animation festival where we returned at 1am and were left with no way to get back to our homes. I learnt nothing over 3 years, making me upset I couldn't go into a career I wanted as I had been taught nothing to be able to. I'm now at a different uni which only highlights how poor Shef Hallam was.
Hi, I'm really sorry you've had this experience and the things you were promised at open days weren't delivered. I will feedback your comments to the course leaders so they can be aware to improve for other students doing the course. I hope you have a better time at your new university and find your desired career. Thanks, Bridget
Sheffield Hallam is a great uni. Great city, great people and the best uni experience I could've wished for. First class honours and friends for life
This is lovely to hear! I'm really happy you've had a great time in the city and made friends for life. For anyone else wanting to find out more see here - https://www.shu.ac.uk/ Thanks, Bridget
I was a student for 3 years. Had no real problem. The problem was when I left. No support for graduates. I went to the careers centre many times for help and just got the same old routine. I was left to fend for myself, and still didn’t get the job I wanted. I ended up moving to a different city and enrolling somewhere else for a MA.
Hi, I'm glad you had a good time whilst being a student - but sorry you've had this experience after you left Hallam, it is always useful to hear feedback from students. Thanks, Bridget
Fantastic university, good resources and union night is brill
Hi, I'm glad you think so! For anyone else interested in finding out more - see here https://www.shu.ac.uk/ Thanks, Bridget
Good teaching and teaching facilities and lab spaces. Student union has improved somewhat. Lots of opportunities and volunteering. Library is good. Good location near city centre. Student accommodation good.
Hi, I'm glad you've hugely benefitted from a lot of what Hallam has to offer! Thanks, Bridget
Everything you need for university. You can study and have a laugh if you find the time.
Hi, I'm glad you think so and you've found the right balance between study and free time. For anyone else interested in finding out more about the university see here - Uni website Thanks, Bridget
An excellent time has been had so far and have very little negative to say
Hi, this is lovely to read :) Here's the uni website for anyone who would like to find out more https://www.shu.ac.uk/ Thank you, Bridget
There’s poor disability support, and the WiFi doesn’t reach everywhere but otherwise couldn’t recommend it more.
Hi, sorry you've had this experience with the disability support and the WiFi but also glad that everything else has been positive for you. Thanks, Bridget
Overall a very welcoming and great university. With great academic staff excellence. I gave 4 stars for the students union as it needs a lot of improvement, the actual building is quiet old and small and a good reconstruction would be a good idea. The staff are very supportive and helpful as they are eager to help students thrive in education.
Hi, I'm glad you've had a great time and felt really welcomed here. I will pass your student union feedback on as we are always looking to improve. It's brilliant you've benefitted from the supportive staff, too. Thanks, Bridget
The uni is great everyone is friendly and happy to help.
Hi, I'm happy you think so and glad you're having an enjoyable time. Thanks, Bridget
My second home. Absolutely love it!
Hi, I'm glad you love it at Hallam! For anyone else interested in finding out more about the uni - see here Thanks, Bridget
Libraries are appalling with few working computers and all slow, wifi sucks. I was a committee member for a society last year and the union was less than useless; we asked for access to a plug socket for society fair and was told we can have one so bought electronics to showcase our society only for our stall to not be further away from one so we had an empty stall which made for a great first impression and their compulsory training through the year was a waste of time. I also chose to come to uni for the jewellery and metalwork society they advertised which was disbanded by the time I arrived. Although the SU was useless, all the comittee members I met in all societies were very nice and helpful and passionate about their society. Can't comment on the careers service but I wouldn't get your hopes up if it's as bad as the rest of the uni. My course feels like they only work there for the money and do minimum effort reading off slides and don't respond to emails or aren't helpful.
Hi, sorry you've had this experience at Hallam. I will feedback to the library services about the computers and the wifi. That's a shame about the society and I understand that it must have been frustrating. I'm glad you got on well with the committee members, though. Sorry you've not had the best experience on your course, which course did you do? If you would like to contact the uni about any of these issues then feel free to on https://www.shu.ac.uk/myhallam/help-and-support Thanks, Bridget
University was one of the most important chapters of my life. I enjoyed learning as much as meeting new people and trying new things. It is great time that allows you to explore.

Very comfortable place to learn. I never felt out of place or intimidated. Was not part of any societies so I don’t have a comment on that.

Sheffield Hallam University is a great university that is located in really green city. University provides different help and support to students (academic support, mental health, visa issues, career support, etc.) Moreover, there are many events (conversation club, trips around the UK) where you can meet friends from all over the world and learn about not only British culture, slang, but also about traditions and culture of other countries. We have also career centre that help students and graduates to find a part-time job, placement, internship, graduate job. They also can advise you regarding CV, application form, cover letters, etc.
