Clean and nice staff however not much communication about the union or university events

Very good university with up to date technology

Moving forward, we're investing a further £220m in our campuses, which will completely fund new buildings for business, social sciences and humanities to green spaces, and refurbish your unique Students' Union building.

Students union seems a bit pointless, also can be quite hard to find the rooms and the lifts in Owen are super annoying
Our students union is ran for the students by the students - you can get in touch with them directly with any issues you may have. It can take some time to find your way around our city campus.

The university has been very supportive of my course and future career options with lots of career fairs and 1-1 mentoring and help. The well-being support is also incrdibke
Each students gets three dedicated advisers. Your student support advisergives you help and advice when difficulties arise that affect your ability to study. Your academic adviser supports your academic journey and performance, helping you achieve your goals and guiding you through options for further study and development. Your employability adviser helps you develop your career during and beyond your studies, from job searches and finding relevant placements to CV writing and interview preparation. You will also be supported by the academic staff and lecturers on your course.

great university with lots of societies
Our student’s union is home to many student-run societies – which cover a wide range of hobbies and shared interests. New societies are created each year, so there’s something for everyone!

Poor communication regarding sports and clubs
Our students automatically become a member of our Students' Union, giving you access to all their events, activities and services. Based at the HUBS near City Campus, the SU is run by students for students. Please contact the Student's Union directly about any queries you may have.

there are so many opportunities for so many incredible things! the common room is such a cool way to socialise with people from different blocks and courses that you wouldn’t normally see. the benches in the courtyard have been used so regularly just for people socialising before going out to clubs or even to meet up to walk to uni

Not been here long but the tutors have been kind, understanding and supportive.

Very good uni for health and social care courses
We are one of the largest health and social care educators in the UK with our courses being developed alongside clinicians and education specialists commissioners and service users to provide our students with the support and skills needed to register as a qualified health and social care professionals.
Good student support and there are many activities that I can join and there are Academic English scheme that most international student can learn for free both online and face to face every week

SHU is an uncoordinated mess with no respect for it's students or education. In my final year my dissertation supervisor told me to make up data, also my course leader was supposed to be a temp.
Loved my time at Hallam. I'm now staying on to do a Masters I enjoyed my time there so much!

This course started off really well until lockdown hit and every went down hill. My placement experience in third year was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. I do not wish it on my worst enemy. While Hallam has offered me an additional placement, this means my graduation is delayed. I can’t say I received much support from the tutors when I raised my concerns. I found the year leader in third year to be unsupportive and rude. If I could turn the clock back to 2018, I’d never apply for this course at Sheffield Hallam. Student satisfaction isn’t their priority; staying in schools good books is so that they can bag as many placements as possible for students while disregarding the disgraceful experience some students might experience at certain they allocate trainees to

From my experience so far in first year, studying law and criminology LLB, the tutors and course leaders are lovely at hallam and the opportunity’s are many, I have already joined 2 society’s and I am sure when everything goes back to normal in September there will be many more!

Never actually managed to get inside there yet
We understand this is a difficult time for students. If you are a returning student in Spetember 2021, we are planning for teaching to be delivered on campus blended with online learning and support. Haven't been in much and they are refurbing the inside hall. I think they are not very organised

We take the wellbeing and safety of our staff and students very seriously with an aim to ensure our campus continues to be fit for purpose, sustainable and equipped for future needs, hence we started refurbishing the one of the main central spaces of the University. Although we do our best to minimise any impact, the project inevitably causes some disruption. The university is in the city centre which makes it great to access and get around. The campus is spread out across the city however which can make it difficult if you have a lesson in a different building straight after another.

I didn't use much of the service, so I cannot make a score at those with three star. Literally, the management of course structure still needed to be improved. The administration team response slow, which I understand in this Covid situation. However, several time the team spell my other classmate name wrongly and leading her suffered to open bank account and even access to blackboard site during the first month of studying. It was such a horrible experience.

They have good facilities at both campuses and have friendly staff that help when you need it

University has allowed me to continue with my next level of education as this year I complete my BA Hons English Language degree. I have met some great people on my course and within my student accommodation and I can’t wait to continue in my masters course at Hallam/
