Located in the perfect position for Sheffield students, Hollis Croft provides fantastic rooms and facilities for residents close to the city centre. You’ll be less than a ten-minute walk from both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam Univerity. This newly built, seventeen-story building offers fantastic views of the city, and much more.
At Hollis Croft, residents benefit from a variety of amenities. No matter how you like to unwind, there is something for you. Catch some sun in the outdoor courtyard, watch a movie in the cosy cinema room, socialise in the communal lounge, or challenge yourself in the on-site gym. There’s also a kitted-out games room and a karaoke room to enjoy. On top of this, the 24-hour on-site team coordinates a booming calendar of social events.
You’ll have your choice between an ensuite room in a shared flat, a private studio apartment, as well as one and two-bed apartments. All rooms are newly built, with high-quality and stylish fixtures and fittings.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

My room itself was quite nice but I had horrible experiences with 4/7 of my flatmates and the staff dealt with this horrendously. My housemates smoked, burned holes in the sofa, broke the fridge, damaged walls, messed with the fuse box and turned the lights off in my room and would knock on my door between 1-5am and run away. It was a scary experience as a girl living with 4 male students who acted like this for a year and staff did nothing but give warnings to them and threaten me with possibly having to pay for their damages. Staff also did not respond when we reported other Hollis Croft students firing fireworks at our flat. The social spaces are very abundant and nice! But some often smelled of weed or were out of service/had missing pieces. If staff responded better to issues surrounding harassment from flatmates and maintained some of the social spaces better, it is definitely in a good location and a modern build!

Hollis has a great location. It is really close to University and nightlife but not close enough to be disturbed by the nightlife. The accomodation is nice and peaceful and so I can study back in the study room after Uni. The study amenities provided are excellent and they even provide snacks during exam season.

Very clean and well maintained student accomodation. The price is comparable to many student accomodations in the area but Hollis offers way more facilities for a similar price. Lovely staff members (Jason and Brandon) who have lovely friendly faces and offer advise on nightlife and events in the city.

Nice and quiet study room with lots and space, plug sockets and a vending machine. Cosy rooms with a view and a street away from the city centre and University which is a time saver. Jason and Rahul on reception helped me make more friends and sorted my issue with my washing machine very fast.

Hollis croft provides great events all the time and I just had to write a review about them so that no one misses out. Today when I found the Hogwarts events invitation under my door, it felt truly magical! I am sure that the Night Owls Jason and Rahul posted this under my door but when I looked to check no one was there... Very mysterious and I can't wait for the events.

I mainly booked Hollis for their social spaces. They have many social spaces to hang out with friends and free bookable social spaces which you can reserve such as their kitchen cinema and karaoke rooms. I really love this part of the accomodation as the all the social spaces are a great way to save money and still have fun. Rahul and Jason on reception have been so helpful tonight, as always :)

Hollis Croft is a great accomodation to live in. The property is massive with several buildings and hundreds of students - it's like a little village. They even have an all you can eat restaurant, Chinese bubble tea shop and Chinese supermarket within 30 seconds of leaving your room. I would definitely recommend! The night staff Jason and Rahul are ace... Very organised and efficient when it comes to dealing with their students 😀

I really enjoy living at Hollis Croft! The staff on reception are really polite and accommodating, especially Jason and Brandon! Hollis Croft is a great accomodation option for students. It is so helpful that they accept deliveries of all my parcels while I am at University so I don't have to worry - they even send you a QR code when they store your parcel for easy collection! Overall great service from staff - they have a 24 hour team. Jay and Jason are the greatest!!! Top marks.

So far I have really enjoyed my time here at Hollis. From the cinema to the huge kitchen you can book; There's endless things to do and there's always fun events running. Really lovely accommodation. It’s definitely worth the price, there are great social spaces (cinema, karaoke, games room ) which I have never had in another accommodation. The thing that stood out for me the most is the customer service. Especially the night staff: jay / Brandon / jason. They are the best receptionist I have ever encountered for the following reasons... 1- warm and welcoming towards students who enter and leave the accomodations 2- provide support in many ways when needed 3- understanding to students personal circumstances and can work while taking consideration to others. 4- for me personally I had conversations with them that i didn't get to have with others, which made me respect them more. The reception is well decorated and curated to students engagement, the monthly activities and the table provided a space for creativity and socializing. These 2 main factors and more have contributed in my decision to booking for next year.

Hollis provides a spacious bedroom which is not like my room at my previous room. The area is very safe and the accomodation provides great amenities. I especially love the staff but the Night owls Jason and Brandon are the best

The rooms are noticeably degraded and lack proper maintenance. Visible patch marks mar the walls, and the door edges show rust damage from water exposure, indicative of wear and tear. The bed edges are marred by persistent stains that haven't been addressed. Additionally, the heating system is functioning below par. The windows are stained, the blinds are in disrepair, and there are inadequately covered holes in the walls. The environment of the room I was allocated is starkly different from the one I viewed initially. During the viewing, I was assured that all rooms were of a similar standard, a statement which now seems misleading.
Since moving in December, I've yet to experience the value I expected for my money. The walls sport unsightly holes and cracks, the room wasn't properly cleaned beforehand, and stains are clinging to the bed's edges. My dissatisfaction stems from the disparity between what I saw during the viewing and the actual room I was allocated post-payment. Addressing my concerns yielded an unprofessional response, suggesting I simply endure the current state until possibly, but not guaranteed, another room might become available by the end of January. The front desk service seemed overly business-oriented, lacking balance in prioritising customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to settle comfortably into the room I've paid for. The environment and condition of the room significantly impact my comfort, prompting me to spend nights at a friend's place instead.

Hollis Croft is by far the best student accommodation in Sheffield. The reception is especially amazing as they are always willing to help and give aid when they can. In my honest opinion, and most of my many friends in Sheffield, Ali is the best receptionist. He is so so kind, very honest and loyal to his job. He treats all students with respect and encourages them to stay in Hollis Croft. In fact, his impeccable character is what made me decide to stay in Hollis Croft from this September and hopefully till the end of my university journey.
Such beautiful accommodation and such a good location to Sheffield City Centre! Especially good for University of Sheffield Students. I lived in Bronze Plus comes with a washing machine too which is really good as not many accommodations do this! Id personally advise this for second years and above living with friends you have already made! The social spaces are so cute especially!! Smart tvs all around the accommodation and the staff are super friendly! Easy to collect parcels too! You can also state your preference of who you want to live with e.g home students, second years, girls only etc and they really do their beet to accommodate this!

Five stars! I really loved staying here, I loveddd my view of my room. THEY HAVE WASHING MACHINES !!!!!!!!! bro it saved so much with that included in my rent. Such kind, funny and lovely receptionists!! Nothing has been wrong with my deliveries or Uber. Had the best experience and stay here. Very secure and still busy even in the holidays, and the 24hrs help at the guest is amazing. Honestly, stay here if you’re looking for an accommodation when you’ve been in Sheffield for a year (1st years I’d advise elsewhere because it’s a popular area for internationals but you can still meet friends like I have ) !

Hollis Croft has been an amazing first move away from home! The activities that the accommodation hosts really make you feel at home and the social spaces are so much fun! Really worth the money and so close to uni campus. The receptionists are also very helpful, even the night staff including Ali, Alan and Jason.
To be honest, Hollis croft is my favorite accommodation so far. There are the best facilities, friendly reception and so on. If you come, you will understand! haha, I remembered when I came to Hollis croft the first day, Ali helped me a lot! thanks a lot! Also, Jason helped me a lot when I need help at midnight! Omg I could not have picked a better accommodation. I have to say the customer service is actually impeccable. I have never met a more welcoming and hospitable staff team. I was worried I would be homesick but that’s far from the case. I would like to give a special shout-out to Ali Jason and Emily who have made my time here the best it could have been. Honestly I couldn’t have dreamt up a better staff. It even feels weird to call them staff as they now feel like my second family.
I was recommended by a local friend who was living here and it was surely a good choice! It was really nice living here, the staffs were super nice (I was like forgot my keys twice a week or even more frequently and sometimes I came to the reception at midnight for key stuff, the staff there was always patient and offered helps with a smile), the facilities made the life here wonderful (common room, karaoke room, study room, gym and especially the cinema room they are amazing!) It's definitely worth the price;) Also, the kitchen/living room for the en-suite type is super large (as I know the largest), a perfect place for friends gathering. Overall, I would definitely recommend Hollis Croft to anyone who's going to study at the University of Sheffield.

Hollis Croft is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I do not recommended at all. DO NOT GO IF YOU WANT TO MAKE FRIENDS. The staff are not helpful at all, the lack of communication is shocking and the staff do not care about the students mental health and are unbelievably negligent. They pretend like they care but really all they care about is having the easiest day and making the most money. The facilities are there but the staff do no make it clear where anything is or where the keys work making it very isolating especially in C/D block. The staff do not communicate effectively before moving in therefore I arrived to find I'd paid over the odds for a terrible room with people I had nothing in common with, if I would have known I would have looked elsewhere which just proves how money hungry they are. I repeatedly told them about my struggle with mental health and they made no effort to help until my parents stepped in and offered money.
Fabulous student accommodation. The price is fair enough and all the reception staff are friendly. I will recommend it to my friends.
One of my friends recommended this accommodation to me. I would say it was a nice choice for me. I must say not every accommodation has a 24/7 reception open like here, which is quite helpful when you meet some troubles. You can take your parcels or ask for any helps at any time. As a fan of table tennis and the pool, I had a good time playing here. The gym is also good, again, not every accommodation includes it. Other facilities such as KTV, cinema and video games rooms are also nice. Well, there is no perfect place to satisfy your need, but this one is worth a shot and you won't regret it.

I’ve been enjoying my time here so far , been here for two semesters and will probably stay here for the third. The staff are nice and friendly and always available when needed.
The staff was very helpful when I was self-isolating. They brought a lot parcels to my door.

Everything is good. However, the wifi is not very stable but when it is working it is pretty quick and responsive.

A great place to stay. The staff are super friendly and always available to help you. Close to the university and the city centre. The night owls never turn down a chance to talk about any topic that comes into your head. They made sure we were all comfortable and safe during the lockdown. 100% would recommend.

The perfect location: not far from the University, but also close to the city centre. The rooms are beautiful, not to talk about the social spaces. There is everything a student needs.
Lovely accommodation, everyone friendly, kept clean and tidy, almost available and helpful staff Staff are great - Mason, Robyn, Khloe, Ben, Adam, John, Jake all, all brilliant and made the move to Sheff much easier and less scary!
All the staff were so lovely and helpful and made the whole process of moving in and living very stress free and easy!
Covid-19: Let us finish our contract early which was a massive relief and very generous
Great communal spaces, brand new accommodation so everything was nice and clean.
Covid-19: Managed to get some of my rent money back however it has been a complicated process as communication has been a bit inconsistent. However the staff have been lovely and understanding.
