No bad words to say about Northumbria, I would have preferred to see more of it this year but will COVID that is not possible.
First year doing cyber security and the modules have been really fun and rewarding. I feel like I'm making a lot of important progress and I can't wait for second year
They offer excellent facilities especially for my design course.
Amazing university with plenty to do, very sociable
Campus is nice and new. There is quite a lot of social life so atmosphere is good. Lecturers are good and explain well. The only thing pointles imo are most seminars

I cant speak for all departments, for obvious reasons, but Northumbria University Physics and Electrical Engineering facilities, staff, support, resources and accessability are on point. If you come to university with the aim of achievement, Northumbria physics lecturers, inspire and illustrate the subject in a way that makes you love it.

I am loving my experience at Northumbria. Weekly quizzes at Habita are always fun, support is great from the students union. The library facilities are outstanding and the societies are a lot of fun

The coach lane campus is quite old and think needs the same renovations as the city campus, travelling is slightly inconvenient but not an issue due to being able to get the free number 1 bus

The coach lane campus is not very good. It is expensive and not good to access
i dont ever use the student union or use many of the northumbria sport facilitys but the debate soicety is good and Habbita has cheap enough drinks. Being in the Design building the facilitys and buildings are really good however the lipman building is very confusing

the campus being located in the city centre is great as everything you need is within walking distance, the students union has a nice atmosphere too

Rating all 1 star / the above categories are irrelevant from the quality of education/ programs at this University. I am doing a part time masters in the London campus (Computing and Technology). I am frustrated with the Uni so far, I can just hope that it will get a bit better in the future. When I applied I specified to the program manager that I was interested in programming and cryptography. There was a Cybersecurity module -but did not touch cryptography but rather information governance with standards and procedures. Current module is Leadership in Digital Age...the assignment asks students to take verbal and logical reasoning tests and do a personal development plan. The mark will be on how much one is prepared to be a leader or not. This is such a bad joke and a waste of money. Teacher is extremely arrogant and communication is always a problem. There are no exams, just assignments one submits at the end of the module. I am not enjoying it or learning so far.
Great facilities, the Business School is next level in terms of design and ambience. Love the city and friendliness of people, including professors. Definitely recommend this uni even though it sits on quite low world ranking which doesn't really depict its real value!

Best university and city for students
I am having the best time of my life now that I am studying at Northumbria University Newcastle. I find my course very interesting and my tutors seem to be passionate about their job which makes my experience even better!

I absolutely love Northumbria. The only thing that needs an improvement are the mental health services. The counsellor I had a therapy with seemed unconcerned and useless

a great university with lots of help from all lectures and a good support base including lessons which help you learn how to note take and revise as well as online access to all lectures and information about the course
The new Architecture studios are one of the best in the UK with fixed space for every student. The campus is realli close to the city centre which is great if you want to live close both to the University and Newcastle itself. The choice of societies is good, but there could be more to choose from
Could use faster WiFi, good resources however, would love more printers that didn't break, and more available PCs at busier times. Staff are helpful and friendly, societies great but could use bigger budgets for activities.
The university has a lot of facilities for incoming students, they have very good study programs
I am currently studying English Literature and Northumbria University. I have had the best experience studying there and there a many social events to go to.

Lovely modern university with lots to offer whether it be its course offering, student help or sports and societies. It is an up and rising uni with lots to offer to its current and future students!

The only decent part of the university is the Student's Union. This is a very disorganised university, unable to answer simple queries. A lot to improve upon Would NOT recommend this university at all. Not worth the trouble or £9K a year.

Placements are ill placed and horrendous, failed my placement due to the placement not being able to provide the pre-requisits for passing. Communication is awful, I was essentially told that I had passed an assignment since I have not received an email to state otherwise. To then be told later that day, actually I had failed. Would NOT recommend this university at all. Not worth the trouble or £9K a year.

The campus life was amazing and the university has modern classrooms and computer labs that made studies more interesting. It was a great experience overall.

Hello Guys, I am an international student from India Studying at northumbria, I came to Uk hoping to get a job after my studies but despite 100s of applications, i can strongly say that UK is defnitly not the place to come if you want a job after u study. The course iam doing is MSC renewable and sustainable energy with advanced practice, however i regret to say that the help to acquire the advanced practice/ Internship is very bad and its really really hard for international. I strongly recommend nobody to come from india to study in UK. The university facilities are really good but at the end of the day what you want is a job which is quite impossible to find for an international student.
Only live in Claude Gibb if you want mold in your showers, dryers that down work at all so you waste your money, no toilet paper ever, or hair in your eggs at breakfast. The only thing keeping me here are my friends. Also the staff in the language department told me they "weren't impressed" with me so don't go ask stuff for help unless you want to feel like crap about yourself. Very rude and very unhelpful. Also very unorganized, I've talked to many other international students who said they didn't receive important emails the first two weeks, just like me, therefore we missed important events. Also, they messed up my schedule more than once the first two weeks. Super rude. Super disorganized. But the professors are very nice.
I really like the modernity of this Uni.
I'm on a Postgraduate course at Northumbria. I don't say criticism lightly, but I felt this is necessary. It is the most disorganised university I've known of. Staff always giving conflicting information, at the expense of students. Not to mention other issues, poorly executed exams, constant issues with IT, frequent timetable mix ups, inadequate teaching staff. I went to uni in Leeds for undergrad and it was dramatically better and more organised. Most others in my class I have spoken to have bad things to say about the university, especially students who have come from other universities and who are used to competance and basic organisation. The campus is nice/fairly clean but that doesn't really mean much when the institution staff performance is innately poor.
It is a bad university please it’s my personal request do not join this university it only wants our money they are low ranked university
I’ve loved being at Northumbria uni and have really enjoyed meeting new people and exploring the city through having placement all over the city!
The university is good and helps gain a lot of exposure
The Student Union go above and beyond to ensure that all students feel represented and included. They have gone the extra mile to make it so that prospective society chairs can set things up without unnecessary barriers and hidden costs. The difficult task of meeting people has been that much easier through joining a society! The campus boasts two bars - Red's and Habita. They are insanely affordable. While the facilities are exceptional, potential improvements would include priority booking for the library, far too many people sit playing on their phones at computers that could be better utilised by other people. The book loan service is excellent - they make finding texts incredibly easy and give you ample time to make the most of your loan. / I think that the university admins do not realise how expensive student life is, and should not be as strict on attendance. Students have jobs, and employers aren't always as flexible as they should be. Overall, a brilliant campus!
Good university to study at and good location as everything’s near by
Worse university ever. I currently doing the MSc Web and Mobile Development Technologies (Part-Time) at the London campus. It has been a big disappointment so far. Teaching is so bad the worse standard. I would never recommend it to anyone. Please do not waste your money

Great university. Great facilities
An absolute disgrace and an insult to the HE industry. Studied my BA in the business school in 2012-14 and it was fantastic. But since then Northumbria has liteally nosedived in every regard to become what I can only describe as an utter joke. Yes the Uni execs have spent a fortune on shiny new buildings and park benches. But just about every other thing about this place is a mess. - Due to internal conflict and organisational unhappieness the vast majority of staff are resentful, disrespectful and often rude to students. - The brand new Ask4help service is an utter failure and a waste of time. They either take 2 months to get bac to you or tell you to contact a different department. - The vast majority of PCs are barely working. - A great many rooms and buildings are filthy dirty all the time. - A great many lecturers are condesending, arrogant overall an awful,failure of budget university with bad staff and worse teaching/ performance standard and expectations.

An amazing department of health and life science especially biomedical science where the lectures thrive to give up to date examples. Plus the research project allows for the development of interpersonal and profesional skills.
The facilities at Northumbria are second to none, whether it be for sports or for engineering, it's phenominal. The English department seems to be a tad dated, but it's obvious the university continuously updates it's most overdue buildings, so I'm sure in the, not so distant future, even English will be modernised. Besides facilities, teaching staff are not just friendly but the vast majority I had were very interested in all aspects of their modules, some lecturers like to teach some parts and not other but, for the most part, at Northumbria they are fully focused and interested in all. Help tends to be fast, email responses rapid, but to be honest if there is a serious issue involving the course, and how the students are satisfied...getting it in order does take lots of effort and time, and mostly gets ignored. I did however really enjoy my time at Northumbria, I'll always remember certain lecturers and society members and even some sports team members for how inclusive they were.

Basing student experience around the Newcastle nightlife is a good way to kill brain cells and have fun without growing or challenging yourself as an individual. Students also come here to learn. Also should embrace being new and different rather than pretending to be an old established uni for foreign students.
It’s a good university, with some really great professors. Everyone raves about the sport facilities too.

some lecturers from art and design department are very racist and abusive to either intentionally isolating student from group study in the workshop or serious verbal bully due to racial issue. some university department staff they are also very corrupted and themselves bullying or discriminating their own staff. Regardless there are amazing lecturers with great knowledge. however, the structure of university itself is very commercial to a level that they don’t care whether you can study or not under any abusive condition but making sure to take all the tuition fee they demanded. Marist influence affect their sense of morality. and this is due to the geographical setting and the local cultural of identity, class that formed this overall university. Foreigner who are willing to join this university shall consider the logic and constitutional cultural aspects as well as the region setting (art - very subjective, lack of sense of logic and realistic understanding in contrast to business -
Internet was spotty at best, the clubs were alright.
Not much to say here, except that some of the coaches are completely useless.
good but student support are completely useless and have zero empathy
everything very heavily based around nightclubs, not easy to socialise due to accomodation being spread around the city rather than altogether, was also mostly locals attending the uni who lived at home making it less social
The students union is an excellent social hub for meeting new people and is also a great place to relax through the week, putting on several events in the evenings on a regular basis (e.g. karaoke). The staff in the entirety of the university and students union are friendly and approachable, the library is an excellent place to revise and buildings such as the business and engineering buildings have excellent facilities. The Internet is widely good however can drop in and out and the food in the students union is excellent too.
I'd really reconsider if you're going to decide on this university. It sounded great when I was choosing it. However, once I enrolled and started it was a very different story. Lecturers themselves are great, just seem to be under pressure and management that is more interested in money and figures than anything else. Feedback, even for decent / excellent marks is brutal and insulting. Student 'ask for help' services are terrible and not helpful, their finance team and interested in getting every penny out of you they can, and insisting they're correct when overcharging on fees, promised great career prospects, however upon starting the course was informed that less than 12% of graduates in our subject area manage to get a career out of it, and that's just the very top of the ice berg. If your set on coming to the north east seriously consider the other universities, having worked and studied at the others they are definitely much better choices.
Living far away it is hard to get to social events but the campus facilities are great
