Very good nightlife cheap Union etc
So far so good, a few issues at the beginning of the course with time tabling and such but once they were swiftly dealt with it has been very good.
They don't have a men's GAA team which was a shock!
Enjoying the uni so far. Haven't joined any societies, but there seems to be a huge range to suit different interests - students can start their own too. Location is excellent - there are so many shops, bars, restaurants, & the MMU library around so you rarely need to go to the city centre! The only con I can immediately think of is the Wifi not working in some areas of the Business School. Overall it's a lively uni in a great location.
Such a great university experience
All the facilities appear to be new and built for purpose and the facilities are very useful, however the Internet services are unreliable and this wouldn't be a huge deal except that registering requires you to be connected to the student wifi and the computers to register are often busy. The news that the university have moved the homeless who were finding shelter under the nearby underpass was saddening as I would rather not support a university who somehow cannot afford to leave homeless people under an underpass who were simply trying to get by despite the high tuition fees that they have no issue enforcing
Some societies could do more things that aren't costume and fancy dress related, but everyone is really friendly. The mixture of old and new elements of the buildings such as Grosvenor and Benzie makes you realise the effort they put in to put Manchester on the map for university education. You'll get your money's worth for sure!
Modern and full of the latest equipment to help enhance education
Good facilities and lecturers, Helpful task and good atmosphere.
Halls terrible, wifi doesnt work properly
Staff are always welcome and ready to help.
Love the career focus and in particular jobs4students offers really valuable experience for students
I attend the Manchester school of art at MMU and it is by far some of the best facilities at university level in the uk. My course allows me to take a much more personal approach to my work instead replicating what others think I should be creating much like many of the British art schools.
Great uni, in a great diverse city, with something for everyone 24/7
Manchester is the perfect place to be as a student! Couldn't think of anywhere Id rather study!
I love Man Met, I think it's a great uni in a lively city. The opportunities for work in creative areas doesn't get much better than here, most of the buildings are modern and have a great atmosphere!
Most sustainable and environmentally university with an excellend academic crew. Giving students any kinds of supports from employability and future careers to achieveing the best possible academic excellence
The only thing that's bad about the university campus is the homeless people in the middle (which sounds awful) but it's only because they shout abuse at students when they're drunk. Other than the few that do that the majority of them are lovely. There are loads of societies to join (more than 100) so there's something for everyone there and they host so many social events so there's always something to do. The wifi is pretty good and easy to connect to. There's not really any fuss and it is a pretty good speedy connection.
I'm still in induction week so don't know exactly what it's like yet but from what I've seen so far it's good.
The birley campus is brilliant. Rooms easy to find and everything is very modern
I live in Cambridge halls which for £100 pound a week was disgusting we had mice for the best part of 2 mouths and every member of my lecturing staff where as helpful as a chocolate tea pot. The only positive thing I can say about the university is the location in the city.
24 hour libary with 100s of computers. Say no more! Great enthusiastic tutors too!
I really enjoy being a student at Manchester metropolitan university. I have had a really good two years here with the course being organised well and meeting lots of good friends through the uni. The student union is in a good location to the uni and is massively improved from last year. The wifi and Internet faculties on campus are really good and there's lots of places for you to get access to a computer within the campus and especially within the library. This campus is not particularly big which makes it easier to get around and the business school (where I study) is a really good place to study and be taught.
These modern lectures are the perfect setting for a romance to blossom and that's what happened to me. Unforgettable experience
There are very few societies outside of sports societies, the gym's free weights room is abysmal, considering the price for membership. University WiFi is alright in certain areas. The food from the cafeteria leaves a lot to be desired. My course (primary education) is run terribly, I would not recommend it to anyone. The lecturers haven't got a clue
mmu needs to concentrate more on the Crewe campus rather than central Manchester
Students union is to expensive
extremely satisfied!!!
I'm from Manchester anyway but I always wanted to move away to study but with having a young family this wasn't possible. MMU was my first choice and I'm very happy. The university has offered great support when needed due to family issues, the transport networks around the university are excellent and allow me to commute dayly, the library is open 24/7 (I don't use this service as I travel an hour dayly, but I think this is fantastic for students living in halls!) If your interested in sustainable living then this university is great for recycling. The best thing of all though is the loyalty discount (I think its called!) That if you do your undergraduate degree there and carry on to do your masters and ph.D then there is a 70% discount on tuition fees!! Overall I think MMU is a fantastic university with very supportive staff and I wouldn't go anywhere else to continue my education!
Cons?
None!
Pretty cool - law student
Great area, great teachers who listen to your suggestions, great new facilities and new union, plenty of advice and help available and just good in general
Cons?
Can get very busy in certain parts of the uni and library.
