Modern and functional uni. Good range of places to study and socialise within the uni.
The wifi was shotty but overall as an exchange person, the campus and staff were amazing and helpful
It is an amazing experience, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and I love everything around campus! to the food, the union, study rooms, staff and the buildings! my favourite is the brooks building though :)
Great university with loads of opportunities and a great up and coming city to live it
Don't let the thought go going to a metropolitan discourage you, just finishing the first year and this uni has been absolutely amazing, for so so many things. Genuinely have no complaints.
The environment, students and lecturers are all welcoming and friendly
such a proud to be in a place where its a great opportunity and amazing people round including our tutors, staff and everyone at MMU .
Student Union and the support offered by the school is excellent. There are also frequent events offered by the university to encourage sociability. If you don’t like your course it’s straightforward to change. Pastoral care is really good.
sustainable A university where promote sustainability and tutors and staffs are supportive towards students. Always feel encouraged to step out my comfort zone during my uni life.
Really good, although some societies aren’t too great to be honest. The book club hasn’t done anything and keeps cancelling. Big L
My experience at MMU is quite interesting as the university is quite different from what we have in India. There are a lot of resources available for students and it is very helpful for us, but we could be introduced to all those resources once to be able to know them. Many resources are unknown to students because they are mentioned anywher. The campus is very helpful and friendly. There are many events held for our interest and resourcing in many ways which is very helpful and amazing.
Great place to study , the new John dalton building will be great - will provide more study space , newer facilities- making the university better
My time at Man Met has been amazing, the staff are great, facilities have been above and beyond expectation. Birley accommodation was outstanding. Great uni
It’s a great uni located in an amazing location where it’s close to everything that you need.
Really love the surrounding of the university with diversified culture that it follows with friendly people and healthy learning environment it has the best infrastructure as compared to other universities in Manchester.
I love how many fun study spaces there are, I love where it is in the city and and how helpful all my lecturers and seminar leaders are too. I feel fully supported here
Fantastic uni with amazing facilities and brilliant staff 10/10 would mmu again.
I love MMU, it's a supportive environment. All our lecturers make we feel important and looked after so we can achieve our best in university but also when we leave.
My post graduate experience has been awesome. I am so glad I chose to go to MMU.
Mmu will support students in any way they can whether it be study issues, personal issues or finance.
All around campus there are a lot of computers. The library is separated into collaborative, quiet, and silent study zones which is useful because you can find a good place to study. There are cafes which offer a range of food and drink in most / all buildings and also in a few buildings there are canteens serving hot food. The business school canteen is great, it offers a range of food from around the world and is reasonably priced. There are lots of societies at MMU but some are more active than others. There are always lots of events happening around campus and it really feels like a community when you're at MMU.
The psychology department is honestly the best and most supportive department
I am on track to get a high grade in my degree, and I believe if you engage properly with everything the university provides you with, then you will do well academically. I just wish they put more effort into the other aspects of 'uni-life'. I don't really feel that I've made any lifelong friends. This may have been due to the first two years mostly being online due to Covid, but I do believe there is lots of room for improvement in terms of clubs/societies, social events etc. My uni building (Brooks) is separate to the other uni buildings in a different part of Manchester so it does make you feel a little isolated from student life, especially if you don't live in student accommodation. It is a lovely new building though and I've got a dream job lined up for when I finish my studies so I am happy about that.
It is a very good place to study, with tutors that genuinely care and are helpful.
A really Friendly environment and helpful staff. Extra support sessions and support tutors. Multicultural environment.
All true. Great WiFi across all campus, lots of places to work from. Good facilities compared to other universities.
This university is lovely along with my course
I have nearly finished my second year at this university and I can say I always have the motivation to come here because I enjoy it, the lecturers on my course are all lovely, helpful and knowledgeable. I’d recommend this university to anyone specifically Early Years and Childhood studies. The only thing I’d be mindful about is the affordability to live in Manchester and booking your accommodation sooner rather than later. I did struggle with loneliness whilst living away from home so do shout up if you are struggling.
Thanks so much for your review. Great to hear you're enjoying your Early Years and Childhood Studies course. We really appreciate you including useful tips for others too. Good luck for Year 3 :)
Friendly teachers and nice atmosphere
Great university with great teachers who are always happy to help,
Very good, inclusive and helpful
One of the best experiences of my life. I got to interact with people from all walks of life. One of the most diverse and most amazing university ever
Manchester metropolitan university is a good university to school at. The support given to international students is amazing. There’s also access to various facilities that makes schooling even easier for students.
Well about MMU it does have a stunning infrastructure in the heart of the Manchester city.
Manchester Metropolitan University is a well-regarded institution with a strong academic reputation and a supportive student community. As with any university, there may be some challenges, but many students have reported a positive and enriching experience at MMU.
I’ve had an amazing experience over the past two years. The staff are all extremely supportive and the facilities are all close and accessible.
Very good uni, looks great, very close to the accommodations, good shops around.
Great university and lots of support if needed. But student union is not good.
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with our Student Union. As a registered charity, we have elected Student Offices who represent our students and are involved at all levels of decision-making in Man Met, including The Union. If you’re currently studying with us, you may wish to consider running as a Student Officer. You can find out more here: Student Officers (theunionmmu.org). You can also post your feedback about The Union via this link: What's on your mind? (forms-db.com). Hope this helps :)
Fantastic university, especially in the business school the facilities are great, they have a lot of support for students and staff are really well respected members in there field, couldn’t recommend a university more
Good uni overall , facilities and support is good enough
brilliant experience, so good there’s even a chance to win £250 voucher. fr tho love the campus and vibe close to zaytonis which is class and 10/10 experience xx
My uni experience is good. It’s easy to find campuses and good lecturers.
~Online extra free courses available for the overall development of the students. (Through the Rise program where more than 10,000 free courses are available) ~The all saints library remains open 24/7. ~ Free workshops are available to help students with their assignments. ~ Focus on extracurricular activities. E.g Through the Union, we can join various societies including boxing, taekwondo, Archery, surfing, etc. ~ Availability of the 'Mentor me' program to get assistance from real-time professionals in our particular selected field. ~Extra free events for mental well-being. For example 'zone out' activities where we can play video games, mini golf, and cuddle dogs. These activities are really helpful to alleviate stress. ~ Extra support available for mental well-being. ~ In the career hub, guidance is provided in every way possible whether it is related to reviewing the CV, helping in preparing a LinkedIn profile or sharing sources to be a freelancer.
Manchester Metropolitan university is a very good university that has amazing resources and staff that help you exceeds to the best version of your self and provide practical real skills to real life situations in work in the future and options one has with there degree which has me less terrified of the real world outside of university
A girl from India, who haven't had a exposure in her entire life as now got the essence of life and is curious about the future which Manmet as paved the path.
There's always something to do. Always activities to do provided by the university where you meet new people. There's always a place to study. There's a place to pray as well which is nice because it shows they respect different religions.
not too bad of an university. The tutors there are nice and helpful.
It is an excellent university, the staff and the students are a lovely bunch! I felt welcomed since day 1
Theres not many events happening and the leaders of some clubs aren't very involved, so the society becomes dead.
It is vibrant and a modern university with access to new technology. There is always someone around to help with any issues you may have. They have beautiful cafes and amazing places to study.
I made the best decision choosing Manchester Metropolitan University. Its business school is one of the best in the world, the lecturers and tutors are very supportive and you have access to facilities, materials and opportunities to further enhance your learning
Absolutely no support during the strikes or in general. My mental health has declined severely because of the amount of stress I have been under. The fact that they are charging £9,250 a year is an absolute joke considering they go on about wanting better pay, but what about the students paying their salaries? They don’t care about students they just care about lining their pockets. I wish I hadn’t gone to university when I did. Honestly I would not recommend this university due to the abhorrent lack of support and help especially during a cost of living crisis
We appreciate you taking the time to post your feedback and we are so sorry to hear that you feel unsupported as a student. We always aim to support our students and ensure that their experience with us is a positive one, both mentally and academically. We would urge you to access our Student Wellbeing service where we offer one to one mental health support and wellbeing workshops. You can find all the relevant information, including how to contact the Student Wellbeing team here: Student Wellbeing | Manchester Metropolitan University (mmu.ac.uk). We really hope you make use of this resource and we would also recommend having a look at our cost of living hub: Cost of living hub | Manchester Metropolitan University (mmu.ac.uk). Hope this helps.
I absolutely love MMU, it’s more welcoming than I imagined, I have met so many wonderful people, and all my lecturers so far have been brilliant. The amount of support for students is incredible
Lovely modern campus, plenty of facilities to access but there’s a lack of facilities for interactions with other students, or something to do through long study breaks etc. wifi doesn’t work in all parts of the building, student pods are rare to find as they are always so full. Even after being at the uni for 4 years I haven’t heard of a society to my interests, and annul fee doesn’t seem necessary
Man met is an amazing place if we are looking for a masters! I have enrolled my self in masters of biomedical sciences course and honestly I have never felt so accomplished ever in my studies the staff and professors are highly helpful and makes you feel home. You can undoubtedly ask them any question that you didn’t understand and can expect an answer with utmost patience and knowledge.
Incredible support from professors. I had a very supportive supervisor for my dissertation and I also got to publish my work.
Great infrastructure with latest technology makes student able to access the world sitting at one place. Libraries offer great variety of books and journal that ease student for working confidently
I love it here. Manchester metropolitan University has proven to be the most fun and happening place for me in Manchester. The University is always conducting something or the other activities both outdoor and indoor which is great to get involvement of as many people possible and be interactive, creative together. Keeping and helping us keep the work life balance with fun activities to do each week. Academics wise also its brilliant.
It is very fun and interstates social and work life
Overall the university and facilities are amazing. Love the campus life. So many things to do that the experience is beautiful.
MMU is overall a pretty good university. The campus is close to the city, the buildings provide good facilities and the wifi is usually okay. The union always has something going on which is nice and it’s right by the uni accommodation. The clubs and societies provided as well are quite broad, but it would be nice to see some more
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review!
environmentally-friendly buildings, excellent teaching facilities, and superb student support services, and MMU workS closely with partners, businesses, the community, and academic peers – locally, nationally, and internationally.
Its was a fun year filled with lots of event to keep the fun side of university experience alive and help for practically anything was at the ready. Really enjoyed my masters here.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review!
Very enjoyable and also have lots of opportunities for you to get involved and make friends and so extra curricular activities
The campus and facilities are great and staff are really nice and welcoming generally. The only con in this university is the lack of diversity. International student and staff events occur but more voice and attention should be paid to it and should be broadcasting even more. In a predominantly white university, this is very crucial
Lecturers don’t often reply to their emails, and if they do it’s a long wait for a response
I'm sorry to hear this. If you're struggling to get a response from your lecturer, it may be worth speaking to our Student Hub to see if they can do anything to help. You'll find their contact details here: Home · Student Hub (mmu.ac.uk). Hope this helps :)
Manchester Metropolitan University has a great mental health and wellbeing team that help with a 5 week hellenistic therapy approach to resolving issues. It also provides access to streaming services such as Kanopy and national theatre live for students which means you can basically cancel Netflix and watch whatever you want! Ig is really student friendly and the staff welcome and encouraged your attitude towards learning. Staff aslo go out of their way to support students with 1 to 1 meetings and societys. I would highly recommend
Thank you for taking the time to write us such a detailed review! We are delighted to hear you have had such a positive experience with us and have accessed a range of our resources we have to support students. Carly :)
Very good would go back. Good courses
Foundation year is unorganized, The animation studios and equipment is amazing though
facilities are amazing, there are loads of places to study. the library is large with lots of study spaces, with silent study zones and places with plug sockets. the timetabling team are very very slow to respond to any issues you have - last year i requested to change one of my lectures to a lecture on another day and it took them 4 weeks to complete my request after i kept hounding them. this year i asked to change one of my units to another unit, and it took them over a month to do it for me despite the request being confirmed straight away. the psychology team are quite good, have had no issues with any of my lecturers.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! We are delighted to hear you have enjoyed your time with us and you enjoy our range of facilities Best wishes. Carly :)
great university with lots of social aspects
The course I’m on is great and ran so professionally, always plenty of support
good campus with accessible amenities
Thank you for your review! We are pleased to hear you enjoy our campus and have found everything accessible. Carly :)
MMU is a good uni and in a perfect place to go and experience the city
Uni is okay. Timetabling is a bit annoying, especially when living away from Manchester.
Thank you for your review! If you are having issues with timetabling please feel free to contact our timetabling team at 0161 247 1110 and the team will be happy to help. Carly :)
The art school is really good, I don’t really interact with the university but I like the fascities.
Very good university, nice staff and enjoy the option and facilities.
I’ve only been here for half a year, and I don’t have much to compare the university to, but here is my experience anyway. The university is decent and has a lot of great services that you can contact if you are in need, such as the union, careers hub and financial support. The personal tutor program is lacking as it’s very hard and inconvenient to arrange a meeting with your PT. The lecturers are good and always happy to help if you are struggling with a particular concept. Overall my experience so far has been quite typical.
Thank you for taking the time to write us review! We are pleased to hear you have accessed some of the great services we have available to students. If you are having problems access support through your personal tutor you may wish to contact the Student hub for futher advice or contact your programme leader. You can contact the student hub here: Home · Student Hub (mmu.ac.uk) We hope you enjoy the rest of your time studying with us. Carly :)
I gained abundant experience of both practical and theoretical so far, and am looking forward to the following exploration.
Really good Uni. Living in Manchester is great and the campus being right in the centre of the city is really convenient. The courses are well structured and quite different, and there’s always loads of stuff going on at the Union. Would reccomend.
It is really good university staff is really helpful and friendly. Teachers r really good at teacjings. So many opertunities and jobs which u can to gor exoerience
Thank you for your review We are delighted to hear you have found your experience so far so positive We have an excellent careers team to support you during your studies and after you have graduated, it is great to hear you have taken advantage of the support. Carly :)
Love the university, and love being in Manchester! Great study spaces and facilities especially if you’re doing creative subjects. Soda is awesome. Would recommend MMU.
Very good university, lecturers are all friendly and there’s plenty of things to do, the student union is also very nice However, lots of assessment feedback is the same for everyone and UCU strikes have caused some issues , also the Wi-Fi isn’t great in some rooks
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! We are delighted to hear you have had such a positive experience at the univeristy with our lecturers. Our student union is a massive part of university life, I am sure the team will be thrilled with your comment. You can also contact The Union who will be able to provide some guidance! Best wishes, Carly :)
Not much of note. Generally ok.
Wish there were more clubs, most of them are for sports or very niche.
Thank you for your review You can find a list of societies we currently have here: Clubs and Societies @ Manchester Metropolitan University Students' Union (theunionmmu.org) If we do not currently offer a society or club you are interested in joining, why not start your own! Any student can join or run any society, you don’t need to have any special qualifications, just an idea and enthusiasm. You also don’t have to have been in a member or ran a society as part of a committee before. As long as you’re a current MMU Student and have an interest in planning and running activities for the society along with other students! You can find out more here: Start a society (theunionmmu.org) If you would like to know more about starting your own society please feel free to get in touch with our Student union who will be happy to advise. I hope this helps. Carly :)
Great Uni, love using all the facilities in the art school, the technicians and course leaders are so interesting and helpful with everything.
Thank you for your review! We are delighted to hear you have/are enjoying our facilities in our Manchester School of Art and find our technicians helpful and engaging. Carly :)
Amazing place to study, modern technology and kind staff
Great facilities and supportive staff
Brilliant facilities. Lecturers are always present and encouraging. Wifi needs a bit of work in some areas but always loads eventually. Wide range of sports teams and other societies, however some should be better organised. Social nights are good. Fabulous location as everything you need is on your doorstep.
