The univeristy of not bad comparing with Hazel farm. Hazel farm is the worst
A place for students to come find and a explore themselves.
A great place to study and meet a variety of students from different cultures.
Some of the lecture rooms are old and frankly too small. Societies within this university is great, however, it’s rather expensive if you want to join sport society. Careers service shows no support whatsoever. There are some area in the campus have no Internet connection. The management have clearly shown very little support regarding students mental and physical health.
So far as I write this, Its a shame to say Im really disappointed with going here. The campus is beautiful and Guildford is nice between countryside and London. The management of this Uni is somewhat disgraceful. They do not seem to care about your welfare, and I have had many issues with this uni from accommodation managers who don't care once you pay the bill, and consistently demand it. Everyone all agrees that there needs to be a major shift in the overall management of the University as its foundations are there to be a great place to study. It's a real shame. I would have gone somewhere else if I knew what I knew now. Don't believe me ask anyone who is going here currently (2021)
Bit sucky really. Town sucks. Go to a city uni instead - much better facilities.
It's the best University I've ever been!
lovely campus, manor park has a great environment (20mins walk/10 mins bus), sports park is great for me, the career service is not bad (workshops and individual appointments available), a bit pricey stuffs in campus, 15mins walk to the town centre from campus, 24 hours library, not applicable to clubs and societies as I am not active during my time in the university
Happy overall! Beautiful campus and helpful staff.
Good university with a sprawling campus. However, they seem more concerned in investing in their appearance rather than their quality of facilities
The University has bad management but overall is a nice place to study.
At least the internet in halls and private accommodation was good. Teaching was also ok. Surreylearn online service was awesome. HOWEVER, I had terrible experiences with renting, student union funding, societies, social culture, social spaces, administrative boards and the exam board. Ended up having to go somewhere else in third year because I couldn't stand it. I'm picking where to go now during the Corvid-19 pandemic...
I have had a really positive experience during first year and i love this uni so much!
campus is nice but accommodation services are too strict - no guests allowed over - on campus shop is too expensive and town is a 15 minute walk away and coming back is all uphill. bus service unreliable - what does the student union even do? also our chancellor spent £1.6k of the universities money moving his dog
I would not recommend going to this university especially to study law. There has been a huge negative change in the past 2 years. Student services are unhelpful and very unwilling to work with you. The parking is terrible and everything is very overpriced. With regards to teaching, your success would solely depend on the lecturer that you pick and not the subject as there is huge inconsistency between lecturers.
Student life:AMAZING! Best years of my life!
Student life:AMAZING! Best years of my life! Course: If you're planning to study Psychology here, please, please, please reconsider! It is absolutely terrible. The course is unbelievably tedious and pointless - you will acquire no skills whatsoever and it will be a grandiose waste of time. Lecturers are extremely unprepared and Year 2 is pretty much a carbon copy Of Year 1 so you learn nothing on top on the "nothing" you already learnt in first year. They claim to want you to practice your "critical thinking" but you are only allowed to do that as long as you argue as per their ridiculous and pointless views on real psychological issues.
It is a beautiful Uni but of course there are always faults. It is never as great a system as it appears to be advertised. But they seem to care greatly about student well-being.
Racism the differentiate between Arabs and not!!!!
Good uni with good support systems!
Very good facilities - library is amazing
They changed all the marking standards and everyone’s grades dropped from 1st to 2:1 etc. Many people have final year resits now which has been previously incredibly rare and have poor degrees. Surrey is known for good employability but most jobs require a 2:1. Surrey has poor teaching and poor organisation with no feedback being given. 2019
I'm very surprised to see the number of positive reviews for Surrey. I've honestly found the experience to be horrible from start to finish. The uni only cares about taking your money, accommodation and quality of education comes second. The uni has a massive problem with over-crowding as Surrey are taking on students faster than they can build accommodation. This has caused prices in the private sector to increase ridiculously and has caused a housing crisis in Guildford. Some courses have taken on so many students that the lecture theatres can't accommodate everyone - there have been reports of people having to sit on the floor for certain lectures - although the university "solved" this by booking out the local cinema to hold lectures in. Placement year is a rip off. Uni charge you 2k for being on placement and give you a load of pointless work to do as an excuse for the charge. I was happy with my placement but I wish I just took a sabbatical and did my placement during that.

My course (computer science) wasn't great - I'm limited on characters here so I must be brief. But some of the modules have been truly awful - as feedback is almost always ignored I can't see this changing anytime soon.
Great learning environment and a committed team
I have learnt a lot from studying MSc. Structural Engineering at University of Surrey. Am a far much better Engineer and more confident about my abilities than I was before.
If you are thinking about coming here - DO NOT!!! Severely overcrowded to the point of staging lectures in the local cinema. This has also lead to huge waiting lists for the local GP to the point where people are refused medications etc. Ridiculous house prices. Management are laying off good lecturers causing the ones left to be overworked. Library services are useless with little online access and few physical copies of books necessary for courses. Campus is awful to get around for anyone with a disability or issues with walking. I have just finished my third year here and the standard of the uni is seriously dropping, as can be seen in their rankings!
loooooove this uni! such an amazing place to study! beautiful!
Has everything a student need, the lectures are fun and helpful, the campus looks really well and the lake next to it is stunning
Amazing university that incites brilliance and excellence!
Surrey is a great university, especially for Biomedical Science as the lecturers are amazing, very enthusiastic and always willing to help! However, some facts such as overcrowding and the sometimes unorganised dealings with the Student's Union during my time as a signatory member of a society have caused some downsides to the experience. Overall, I think the time I have spent at the University of Surrey has really given me lots of independence, self-confidence, good course understanding and amazing friends who mean the world to me.
I'm a first year at uni of surrey and so far everything has been great, we've got a great green campus and lots of clubs and societies
It's a s******, but at least we have a pretty lake with the occasional visiting swans.
Great facilities and a huge range of societies to choose from.
Well, i'm disappointed. The physical union itself is atrocious, literally an antique shop except all the chairs and tables are falling apart. Its a complete mess yet the union aren't doing anything about? People being berated in the most recent election by other union members. The university is over subscribed. Good luck getting a seat to revise in the library unless youre going 8pm onwards. Do not rent the more expensive band D or above capus accomodation - the accomodation is awful and are much better going for B or below Staff cuts, unorganised lectures and lab session although a few lecturers are outstanding in what they do. Its just disappointing. Its not surprising how far its all slipped down the league tables recently. Too many students, not enough staff, not enough care.
I had the best experience in the university. It has brilliant atmosphere to study in. I would highly recommend it.
Its amazing. It was my dream to come here.
Gutted they’re making cuts and the first things to go are the Dance and Theatre and Performance courses - why do the Arts always suffer first?
A great campus with fantastic people; marred by a biased union and negligent upper managent. Housing is also a nightmare in Guildford. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed studying here. It is what you make of it.
Good services and help is available when ever needed. Friendly and welcoming campus
Great facilities and lecturers and accommodation is of good standard.
Campus makes the experience worth it. Some lecturers are fantastic. Don't be swayed by the rankings, they don't mean everything. Student life and health play an important role and the campus facilitates that.
Good uni, facilities are brilliant and the campus is well looked after. Nightlife is bad but location is good
Really nice campus, societies are good if they're actually running and easy to try and join. Rubix (union) is alright but not many good events or music apart from Fresher's Week. Internets pretty fast though.
Fun and exciting place to study!
A friendly, warm, welcoming university campus. Everything is close by and convenient.
Beautiful and amazing campus, will great tutors!!!
Could not have dreamed for a better university experience!
Modern, excellent pastoral care, beautiful surroundings; feels like home.
Warm and inviting campus however is overcrowded and needs cheaper food facilities
Have absolutely loved my time at Surrey. Always felt super supported and have been given some of the best opportunities
Outstanding in all aspects. A brilliant place to study.
Quite boring and limited things to do but it’s a good campus overall.
I'm not sure who would give Surrey a solid review. The university takes on too many students, and doesn't prioritise spending. They'd rather spend money on sticky blobs to go on the floor to "show freshers where to go" rather than actually build some (by some I mean lots of) accommodation at band B. This means students are pushed into a very expensive private sector, where its common to spend over £500pcm before bills on a low quality house, with private rent prices also rising (mine and others' rent prices are up 19% next year!). The social side is dire. Very few and expensive clubs (tho the spoons is actually quite good), and also a lacking of societies compared to other universities. Overall the university just feels quite empty as not much is usually happening. End of year show tickets average £20 per night, so when people just want to celebrate exams finishing they get rinsed in the process. The Surrey sports park is pretty good and is good value, but the gym is often full.
Very good teaching and facilities.
Well all they care about is the money. There isn't enough space in the uni or in Guildford for the number of students they take on
Amazing university with good events and good student accommodation
The university forces students to pay for overpriced private accommodation, as they accept more students than they can house and most of these foreign students. This means first and final year British students do not get given accommodation and are forced to pay exessive rates. The students union is corrupt and since leaving the NUS has hiked prices in its on site club The process for creating a society is also incredibly corrupt, as greedy societies block new societies to keep money Overall, teaching is great, management is appauling.
Very expensive to live in Guildford and the SU is an absolute rip-off; the only financially viable place to drink is Wetherspoons and the nightlife is dire. Campus is great with plenty of green space and an ok library. Sports park is brilliant but it is a 20 minute walk from campus and they only offer annual student membership which works out quite expensive if you decide to go home in the holidays. Would not recommend unless you have a very good reason to go to Surrey.
Friendly group of people with high achievements in a competitive environment, excellent teaching however night life is dead
I've had an amazing time here and have got a graduate job of my dreams lined up
campus is cute but again nothing in guildford,
Surrey is so good in all departments- so pleased I chose it :) The union in particular is very good in comparison to other unis
Love how pretty the campus is. Most facilities are in great condition and there's so many choices of food and drink places which is really handy. Clearly labelled buildings helps with navigation thankfully because there are a lot of buildings. The library is amazing, so many floors and open 24/7
Great! Overall an amazing university! Lots to do, the Students Union is brilliant as well!
Brilliant campus, with internet connection all around.
Love the university, don't regret choosing it one bit
Amazing uni, limited space so the campus has to be very dense and is beautiful.
Good Uni life especially that the Uni is campus based
Love the uni and the atmosphere
Campus is a great place to be. Excellent sports facilities. Great new shop. Union is absolutely horrendous. Needs one hell of an update and better management.
A lovely and welcoming university with great facilities
Great university, can't fault the facilities and the students union are always putting on social events
the students union is always trying to improve to make the student experience the best it can be at the university, they are always around to help students when you are stuck for help. The university offers a range of diverse nights in the on campus club, however town is never too far away.
This university feels like home. There's no other way to describe it.
Surrey offers a variety of social aspects and the student union is constantly trying to update itself and appeal to all students.
Sports Park is brilliant. Lots of clubs and societies, rugby club has the best and most active social scene. Union could create more activities that encourages people to mix and make more friends. Need more social places.
Terrible professors who are unable to teach, medical engineering course was designed for 10 year olds, not challenging just pathetic. Overall worst experience of my life.
Huge campus, great restaurants great club, loads of sick nights get great acts to perform suits everyone's taste from pop, indie, rock, house, r'n'b, afrobeat and bashment
Love the University Of Surrey, great facilities, great students union, offers a huge variety of different sports and societies which are all able to run at the university
The Students Union put on a lot of great events throughout the year, so social life is fantastic. There's also a large range of clubs and societies to join. However, some things are not to as high a standard as they should be, for example, the union website, the email system, SurreyLearn VLE or accommodation. WiFi is fast all across campus, and the facilities are generally very good. The campus is also very pretty and close to the town centre. However, bear in mind that the town centre is not that big, but you do have good access to London & Reading.
Needs more social areas, bars. Only haris bar which is in rubix so can't go there all the Time, also can be expensive. The WiFi doesn't work everywhere and I can't seem to connect to the secure one anywhere. There are a good variety of clubs, especially sports
The university is very green and beautiful
I did not really find most of the lecturers helpful. And the university is very poor at resolving student problems. I don't know if it's a personal vendetta with me but I have been waiting on a response on my thesis for more than 6 months now. And no one has cared to get back to me despite my emails. If you are an international student I will highly recommend you do not get involve with this university
I absolutely love this uni the area is great people are great and the social side is amazing, I love being part of the tennis club and think the facilities on campus at pretty good
Love the Union, does some great nights! Surrey Shop is overpriced for some items, but very convenient
Small uni, too many people crowded in small rooms, sticky floors.
Needs some more food places on campus, but a great social life!
The fact that you have to be a member of Surrey Sports park to join a sporting society is irritating as is the low number of societies available in general. However, the on campus facilities are excellent.
It's such a great uni, it has everything you want so glad I went there!
The wifi in halls is pretty good as everyone has their own wifi, but in the library it is very slow and icloud around campus can also be annoying.
The library is fantastic & has essay support in SPLASH. Wifi around campus is not so great though.
WiFi can be slow sometimes but the favilities are great.
Best Uni! Has that chill environment to focus on your studies, but is also 30mins away from London if you want to go for the weekend!
The WiFi could be improved, it gets down very often
The student union organises some of the greatest events that take place in the University, attracting all types of students
Love the campus, so nice being a first year and having everything near by and so easy to find. Student union is good fun and lots of societies to join
The campus is beautiful, but needs more places to hang out, to eat, restaurants, benches... Wifi doesn't always work and is a bit confusing to log into
Great uni. Lots to do and opportunities for all.
Surrey uni is amazing! It's actually a lot better than I expected!
