Coventry University is a university with fantastic academic facilities and resources, as well as outgoing staff. I have been made to feel so welcome here and had all the support I needed. The big issue is how the management treat staff, with low pay rates, impossible targets, and treating us students like a commodity. Plus the wifi is sort of bad so there’s that.
I absolutely love my time at Coventry university. It was a university I chose as my top choice but I'm so glad I'm here. I came to the university on a course that I didnt really want to do and within the first few days decided to change. The staff were fantastic. They helped me every step of the way, my old course made it so easy to leave and my new lectures were so welcoming and nice. The staff at this uni really are willing to move mountains for you. Or atleast in the Health and Life science department they are. The Alison gingell building is stunning, so good for learning. The uni is always having building work going on
The above facilities are very fine.
Great university, great staff for finding places and an app to locate lectures.
These aspects were good, but if you think they are collateral aspects, they should improve them.
Fun place, very much a student town. Everyone is friendly and everything is close by.
Has anyone had recently completed the MSc International Event Management program?
Very poor University if you need any support. University will not recognise any of its own failings and puts all blame on student. Coventry University is not interested in its students- only interested in taking your money.
I like the campus at Coventry university.
I spent a year MSc programme. The university lecturers are helpful and supportive, but the course didn't well organised for my course. The library need to be expanded, it's too crowded, hard to find empty spaces to study, limited books. The central academics writing is nice and helpful.
Good university with the best library service.
Overall the university is good.
Nice campus, however there wasn't much to do in the city centre.
Appalling teaching. In the name of diversity and saving money one tutor teaching few different modules. Extremely poor English, on lectures barely can understand anything.Lectures read from slides, with lecturer not knowing what he is doing. You will not get any help, as at your tutorials you have the same lecturers from different subjects who give you A4 with answers for the end of the semester, because they do not know how to explain. Marking is the same as teaching. Prospects of getting a job tiny. You end up with a bit of a basics in Python, basics of C++, and a bit of a basics of Java, using Netbeans IDE. Waste of money!!!
everything you need and all close to each other
I have been here for four months and from my point of view, the buildings are outdated, there are many courses with overlapping content and 8 out of 10 times when using the printing machines, they were out of order. WiFi is very slow.
New buildings being opened but there is a large amount of students so finding seats in library can be difficult at certain times.
Everything good so far. Great help and opportunities available.
Teachers and facilities are really good
Pretty good institutions with its facilities and helpful lecturers
The university itself, is no help. They say they will help you with finance, however they don't. They say they will help if you have any issues with your health, but they don't. There is a lack of campus feeling, and campus itself. Whatever they have is VERY small, and the town itself lacks food places, and shops. The clubs/societies are the only good things about the university, even then there is only a few. STUDENTS UNION - no help at all. They don't really bother, and most of the time they don't even know what they are doing, the only time they will even bother is when they want you to vote for them. Careers Service - B*******. Literally, went to them for my CV several times, they didn't even know what they were doing, tried it myself and job several job offers. Internet/Wifi - bloody slow.
It is very difficult to put this into a short paragraph when it begins from my first day of uni, until my final year and final day of uni. For students looking to do fashion design at Coventry university, let me say DO NOT DO IT, you want to study fashion? try going abroad to parsons, or studying at Central Saint Martins, London college of fashion ORRR get an apprenticeship!!! DO NOT STUDY FASHION AT COVENTRY UNIVERSITY unless you want to fail or be miserable! THE TEACHERS are the worst I have ever seen! They show favouritism towards students, especially if those students are white, if you are black, Asian or even worse muslim, then I am so sorry, but this is not the place for you. It's full of white teachers who are racist, and hate BAME students. I have factual evidence of this, The course is not well structured at all, you do not receive any help, everything I have learnt, and other students have learn was all SELF TAUGHT. They can't be bothered to help you.
The University has good facilities
Pretty damn good. Plenty of societies, great fascilities and all round great uni.
Modern university with great facilities
Good uni. Only issue is keep increasing the number of students each year and there isn't enough facilities, especially in the library and CAW which is so difficult to get an appointment. Some teachers are willing to help you while some are not.
overall good, could have better societies
Fantastic, everything so close to each other and really friendly
Really good Uni 13th best in the nation
Nice campus, not so much encouragement to get involved.
A great university where they care about student feedback, and invest in their students and facilities. The campus is city based, so wherever you go in the ring road, you're likely to be connected to uni wifi! The careers service is amazing and even offers free CV help and job search help even after you graduate. Got some great clubs and societies and have a sports varsity event each year against Warwick. The students union is friendly and approachable and runs some great events in the year, including a summer ball at the end of each year. We even have a cinema on campus with cheap tickets! (Square One) and a 24 hour library
So many support available for my course. Teachers are excellent. The campus is big but enough for walking distance. Lots of different societies to choose from, allowing you to explore your interests, learn from others, meet new people, gain friends etc. The city is small however it is a modern city with a historical background and kept its originality evident at the Cathedral. Great place to study and learn. 10/10
A great Engineering facility, with all the bits and bobs you might need. Staff contact time is amazing, with four lecturers per module each with two hours availability outside of your lectures just waiting in a room for you to ask questions. Other support is also available outside the facility with maths, English etc.
The university is great to the course they provide with quick reply and help from both teachers and staffs. In addition to this, they provide the latest materials required in the line of course.
Poor accomodation choices at time of beginning course which has contributed to numerous issues with lls, lecturers and advisors are not the most helpful when needed. Would avoid this uni like a plague if possible.
Rubbish career service who only tell you your options once you have paid off everything to the uni then you can graduate and then you can access the careers advice
Very helpful careers service, with loads of activities and advice
Honestly a waste of time and money.
Coventry University has a cool city campus with juxtaposition of brand new glass buildings and the cathedral ruins. The university has top class facilities and teaching and has a real focus on employability skills creating graduates that are in a great position to finish university with a job they enjoy.
It's a city campus. Medium size. It's growing to be better. But I wouldn't recommend undergrates to come here bcoz it's not a top university. Postgrate is fine. If your result allowed you to apply for a better school, go. Internet was a pain in the ass when I first came here. Certain devices couldnt be connected and once I logged on it kept logging me out. Need to go to IT service. Sports hall could be bigger. Space is limited for sport that requires big move. Certain sports have to go other places like squash (at warwickshire), gymnastics, rock climbing, netball etc Good thing about this uni is that they have a lot of activities going on. Overall university is all about yourself.
From the information my daughter has given me, the University as a whole was very good
Shocking. London campus is not a proper university but run from a municipal building. The lecturers seem to be rejects from proper universities
VIVA LA COV UNI. Given the Student Union a 4/5 purely bc it's a city uni so doesn't really need a student union, so no one uses it. Clubs are so good, you have 3 great Cov clubs (the holy trinity) and then Leam clubs are amazing, not to mention BIRMS!! Their careers service goes above and beyond, always trying to give me advice even though I'm rarely listening (my bad). The campus is great and getting even better, it's right next to the town centre and the Hub is sick and really new. William Morris is cool af. Societies are great and seem to get a lot of funding for trips and stuff too. Cov Uni will look after you and you'll love it there.
The worst university in the planet
Awful. Careless. Just don't go. Waste of time and money!!!
Coventry University is a vibrant hub of life which, in all honesty, is the only thing that seems to keep Coventry alive. This city is run entirely by students which provides a real sense of community to the university experience. On the other hand, the uni does not have that many great clubs and societies and the hub - where the SU is - is just a cafeteria and a bunch of computers. At other uni's there are bars and clubs and fun events held at their SU, which is why CUSU is rather lacking.
University buildings and student union is all in one area so makes it easy to get anywhere. Plus it's in the middle of the city so the centre is really close (5 minute walk). Plenty of facilities for students and the library has tonnes of options for help regardless of your course. Student union and societies are always open and the variety makes it good since anyone can find something they like or would want to try.
Good uni, made loads of friends first year, cannot wait to go back!
Coventry university is rough around the edges but the facilities and campus are exceptional ( for computing/engineering), facilities are improving every year, and I'm not talking petty changes.. Admittedly the place needs more clubs/bars but you really can make the most of it !!!
Plenty of clubs and societies, I've always found that there are plenty that I want to join. The Hub is great and there are plenty of useful facilities in this university, especially in the Lancaster Library which is brilliant. I've never had to use the Careers Service.
the uni itself is great and it has a lot to offer bt there isnt really a student union which makes things really s***
Su pretty much non existent, no student bar, but campus is lovely
Not got a very United student feel to the university and the city isn't great, but got some great facilities.
Coventry University is amazing, excellent staff and lots of opportunities to take part in societies and events. The locations are quite spaced out are can be difficult to find at first however. The library is very large and the Hub is always full of life.
Great uni campus and friendly people and staff, never feel lonely as there is always a great vibe and staff are awesome
Campus is great, it's a shame they didn't do anything with it. Societies are limited, hardly anything is even there on the list, so it's sh*t. Student Union is sh*t, we don't even have a SU Bar, like proper one anyways. Careers services is meh. You get emails about things 1 hour before its about to happen and it's irritating because sometimes its interesting. Internet is great though!
About to finish my MSc at Coventry and it has been a mixed bag. If you're coming to this university to party you're going to have a bad times. Two clubs, Kasbah is the only good one. Not alot of great student pubs. The nightlife in the city really can't compete with anywhere. It is fairly safe though which is a bonus. The university itself is new, nice looking. The SU building is good but lacks a decent bar. It's open like once a week and that's it. The SU staff are pretty terrible. Load of unorganised posers who do it for the money. No student movement at all. The course I do in theory is good. Lots of good down to earth lecturers. Where the uni fails with its postgrad students is the admissions. I'd say 70% of the people who are in my class should simply not be there. The university lets in alot of international students because of the massive fees they pay. This totally devalues the course because the course has to be dumbed down so that these people will pass.
Wifi is accessable most places on campus, all of the services offered are exemplary
Some of the buildings are pretty awesome , others look terrible. The unions are well organised but not very active after some time
Curently studying Business Management (1st year), and already loving it. The teaching quality is amazing, great environment in lectures and seminars, so they totally deserve Modern University OF The Year 2015!
Internet is slow , student union don't really do much and a lot of buildings are out dated
Great place, The Hub is brilliant and everyone is so friendly!
Everything is amazing! Everything I need is here and a lot of opportunities!
Absolutely loving my experience at Cov uni. Saw many uni's during the interview process and this Coventry was by far the best!!
This university suitable for anyone. There is always someone who can help you, you can not be bored because of the huge amount of programs and societies and the employment rate after graduation is really high.
Before u apply any major, make sure u have done clearly research! And it is exactly what you want
campus has lots to do and always something going on and people on hand to help you!
So glad I choose Coventry such a lovely campus and city!
Quite modern, love The Hub, brand new library, also has a trading floor which is cool.
very modern, loads of support, and some great nightclubs
Coventry is definitely one of the best university experiences out there. I've visited many on nights out but always come back to Coventry by the end just because the atmosphere is so much better. The student union is very helpful and adaptable for whatever you need.
Wonderful university everything a student can dream of .
Coventry University has had a incredible ascension lately and it definitely makes huge steps towards the top of the rankings. However there are still lots of things to do if we talk about the student union and staff's e-mail response rating
It is a great University with a diverse range of courses that have a lot to offer. Also, the field trips are an amazing plus!!
Amazing university. You definitely want to come and spend 3 years here.
Great university. Currently improving dramatically.
Really impressed with facilities and teaching methods, AddVantage modules have been very beneficial to my CV.
Not many societies at all needs to be more of a variety
Great facilities, awesome su, lots of opportunities to go abroad with funding
Ive been really let down by the uni careers department this year. Completely inadequate and uncaring. Student support is minimal in areas such as counciling. Literally no nightlife whatsoever just a few pretty awful clubs and nowhere with regular live music or venues for people into other genres of music than dance. Overall pretty bad experience.
Everything is walking distance which is great. It is so easy to make so many friends. I have overall enjoyed my year spent in Coventry University so far. However, the town centre is not very big.
I am doing ma interior design and it could be better organised
Fantastic university, really good lectures and students to be with. Has everything you need. Coventry city itself is small so don't expect much from that but if you come here to study then you won't be disappointed. Fun things to do too. :)
Uni is fine, union isnt as good as what I've heard about else where, Coventry itself is a s**** tip aha especially if you're into music, don't bother, there's nothing going on in Coventry.
So happy that I put Cov as my first choice!
The Cov University deserve s to have a hunger ranking
experience wise, nothing compares to be a coventry university student.
Amazing University, much more than I hoped it would be
i love coventry, it just has a really good vibe about it!, unfortunatly i feel the students union is lacking without its own specified bar and club
yes it is the best university and school I have ever attended.
Uni is okay but felt that my course Tutors was not completely sure of what they were teaching us could have had more training on the course
Not much to do for students and no good events
Really good university, tutors are fantastic on my course and ive made some absolutely fantastic friends
A very good university with excellent lecturers. Provided with the good facilities along with great services on and off the campus. Easy to fit in campus and the city itself.
I have been there for less than a year, but the amount of kindness and nice people I have met makes up for all the new knowledge I have had to consume. If I had a choice to take my degree now, or continue on for 2-3 more years, I would stay, as a degree is worth nothing if you haven't had any fun. Because in the end, only 1 thing matters - to enjoy life to the fullest.
Great course (Mechanical Engineering) which is what I came for, nice people and lots of fun to be had! Only at year two and I'm already set up for a graduate role when I finish my degree!
At Coventry University, everybody is friendly with everyone. Everyone smiles at everyone. It's a very lively and interesting atmosphere.
Coventry University is a good uni however, it would be useful if the companion books provided upon starting the course actually arrive on time e.g. my fellow peers and I are still waiting on a book which by the time we receive it, the module will be over. The uni really needs to sort out it's organisation.
Great university the engineering side of things are great with amazing course content
needs to be more more events to and things to do in the area, some courses need better value for money, e.g. im paying £9,000 a year to go in once a week for a 2 hour lecture, and its just housekeeping -_- staff need to offer more individual support, teach those that want to be taught e.g. sit down and help with specific skills, and take into consideration the mentality of others, e.g. if students need guidance due to a lack of confidence or unsurity then they need to be helped
