Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
IQ Brocco is a well-located student accommodation near the University of Sheffield buildings, including the Diamond and Information Commons. It’s close to Tesco Express and just a 10-minute walk to the Moor, offering easy access to the city centre. The 24/7 reception ensures you can address any queries anytime, with friendly staff always willing to help. The social spaces are decent, featuring activities like pool, PlayStation, and table tennis, alongside a common kitchen perfect for cooking with friends. It’s a great place to meet new people from diverse backgrounds, as it’s surrounded by other student accommodations. Rooms, kitchens, and toilets are clean, though the cleaning services could improve slightly. The Wi-Fi connection is excellent, perfect for studying and entertainment. Overall, IQ Brocco offers good value for money, combining a safe, well-maintained environment with reasonable social spaces, making it a solid choice for students.
Friendly and welcoming environment
That’s great place to stay. Value for money and convenient location
Overall nice place to stay (IQ Brocco)
Rude staff, incomplete rooms and lack of social inclusion in events that can make the first year of university challenging and lonely
1. The closet can only use with hangers 2. The heater only works for two hours 3. As a non-smoking building, the smoking situation is out of control 4. The post locks are literally broken for YEARS, still not fixed, you can still open the post lockers with no key required 5. Poor reception time 6. The reception will only keep your parcel for 48 hours, and then they will just send it back 7. Horrible flat door lock design, the flat door lock = every other room door lock in that flat if you are in an ensuite 8. Expensive -> you can get a studio elsewhere with this price (with much safer and better services too) 9. No cleaning tools or services provided 10. No facilities in Block A, everyone must walk OUTSIDE the building and enter block B to do anything 11. Bin store is absolutely disgusting 12. People using drugs at the back of the building 13. Security is terrible, I have been followed to enter the building by strangers multiple times
Living in IQ is the best choices for international students. The staffs are very friend. sometimes there will be some snacks for us to enjoy. I really like it
Bad Accomodation to live in
