That is a nice accommodation, well located, with a street full of shops and first necessity shops. You can easily go do your groceries at Morrisons, Sainsbury's or even Tesco. Birchen is surrounded by lots of trees and it is very calm there, so this is nice to study and sleep well. The room are bigger than I thought but the bathroom is rudimentary, the shower is not very convenient and I miss flooding my bathroom and my room several times. The desk in the room is huge and there is a lot of storage. The common room is really nice, we have enough space for 6 people. The wifi is ok but sometimes it keeps disconnected you and when you try to connect your devices again, it doesn't always work. The staff is really nice and helpful. Everytime we did a maintenance request, they came the day after and solved the problem really fast. The cleaning lady is doing an incredible job, she always clean my flatmates' mess and it's always shinning after she came.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

within walking distance of campus, solid option for returning students who haven't been able to generate any other accommodation, wifi drives me insane however.
Hello and thank you for your review. We really are grateful. I am glad you have been happy in your accommodation. Birchen is a great block and close enough to the facilities that the Ranmoor/Endcliffe site offers, the shopping area of Broomhill and about a 20 minute walk to the university main campus. I am sorry you had issues with the WiFi. My colleagues in the IT department are available to assist with any issues and if it's maintenance related then this can be reported to the Customer Services team (acs-customerservices@sheffield.ac.uk). Best wishes, Sharon

Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are very grateful. Birchen is a lovely block and as you say surrounded by trees, the whole Ranmoor/Endcliffe site is full of trees, lovely green open spaces and even a lake !. The local supermarkets are in Broomhill which is a lovely shopping centre and also has loads of cafes, independant and charity shops about a 10 minute walk away. If you forget anything though there is a village store on site. The en suite rooms are a wet room style but should drain correctly, if there are any issues we are happy to help. This is the same with any WiFi issues you may have. Our cleaners are amazing and work really hard to clean communal areas for you but your bedroom is your own to keep as clean as you wish !. Best wishes, Sharon
I really like it here - lovely area, decent sized kitchen and bedroom, very close to shops and nice places to walk.
Thank you for your lovely review of our Birchen accommodation. We're so glad you enjoyed your time living with us :)
The quality does not match with its price. It was a terrible experience living in here.
Lived here 2 years, first year was awful, looking out on to the road where everyone walks to uni and walks back drunk at 1-4am provided no privacy and no sleep. Second year made sure to secure a quiet top room floor overlooking the whole of Sheffield. Quiet, serene and beautiful sunrises/sunsets and at night you can see the whole city lit up. Stephenson Hall nearby makes for great social space and computer room for working and last minute printing. Try to get a south facing room for the sun, privacy and quietness.
Absolutely awful I hate living here glad to be gone
Not nice, it smells of damp and Moldy sofas
Great location, endcliffe is the place to be
