Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Very friendly and lovely people, problems fixed quickly 🥰
Amazing service, location is amazing.
Good location especially for LIPA students, WiFi tends to be the worst part
Really safe and enjoyable place to live, good facilities and helpful staff
Overall very good! The property is worth the money bar the shower which could be better, the pressure is too low and the heat fluctuates too much. Plus the auto lights are more annoying than anything. Other than that the rooms are big, the stuff regularly check in, the response team is pretty fast.
The team at dwell are great especially Chris and Ryan always helpful, easy to be around and nice to talk to!
Cathedral Campus has great value for money, great access to maintenance and assistance. There are a few letdowns that are not the fault of Dwell but rather companies that have deals with Dwell like Circuit Laundry and Glide wifi however the staff at Cathedral Campus do their absolute best to accommodate these issues.
I lived in Cathedral in my first year and it gave me the best opportunity to socialise as my friends lived 10 doors down and made it so accessible. I now live here again in my second year as the value for money is great. The reception staff and maintenance guys are always happy to help. It is so close to the Uni I go to and is only a 5-10 min walk from all the shops you need.
I moved in a few days ago and have been blown away by the value for money. My Room was very nice and tidy and the location is amazing. Everyone has settled quickly. I would suggest maybe a social area with table tennis or board games so I can socialise without spending money or drinking as that's what I prefer. But overall, this is amazing
Issues with delayed construction on arrival but the team were very apologetic and resolved the issues as soon as possible, compensting us as well. Any maintenance issues are sorted out very quickly, and the team are really kind and helpful. The location is perfect and the Cathedral is a lovely landmark to live beside.
This is my second year living here and I chose to come back mainly due to the safe surroundings and welcoming staff
The staff is really friendly and always there to help. I like how the accommodation is positioned and it also feels like a small student village. The houses are perfect for students.
Amazing value for money and right in the centre of Liverpool. Staff are friendly and maintenance is fast and efficient!! Love staying here.
I moved into Cathedral campus in 2022 during my second year of uni, and I have nothing but great things to say. I’ve had such a good time at this accommodation, that me and my roommates are living in the same house this year too. If you’re a student studying in Liverpool, I would 100% recommend Cathedral Campus. It’s close to all the universities, especially LIPA, and it’s close to the centre of town. 24 hour security and amazing people at reception, you’ll always feel safe at this accommodation. I’m so glad I chose to stay for a second year at cathedral campus.
Unfortunately my stay in Liverpool was cut short due to not liking my university and changing, I had to keep my key and contract until summer and got told I could use it as a holiday home and my room and stuff would be safe. It was not safe, I arrived to sign out of my Accomodation and hand in my key after a few months of not being there and most of my belongings was stolen, my main stuff was my blow up bed, my bed duvet cuver blankets pillows etc, half my clothes and alll my storage boxes and suitcase beneath my bed. Reception done nothing about it and there wasn’t any cctv to help the police. It came down to the police believeinf it was the staff on site but the receptionist didn’t help the police or anybody else look into it and denied everything. The funny thing was whoever it was that got into my room WHILST IT WAS LOCKED, left a disgusting plastic reusable Starbucks cup. So think twice before you book your stay as the staff are dodgey.
It was a lovely home to live in, any issues I raised were sorted immediately without question. The facilities are a great value for money and the staff are very friendly.
Cathedral Campus is in an ideal location, making it easy to get to Uni while being close enough to walk into the city centre or the dock. The rooms are modern, clean and simple, allowing students to make them their own. The social spaces within the house are ok, depending on the house option you choose and there is easily enough storage throughout the house. Overall, it has been a very pleasant experience staying at Cathedral.
People at the front desk and in the constable’s office are friendly and helpful, the houses are comfortable and it’s easy to meet new people wherever you are on the campus.
I've enjoyed living here. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help with a genuine duty of care. Any problems I've had have been resolved as soon as possible. The grounds are well kept up together, and the living spaces themselves are nice too. I've had a happy four years staying here.
It is really a great accommodation! I wanted to move after a month from one house to another due to my flat mates being messy and Maria in reception was super helpful and made it happen so quickly!
Had a brilliant time here over 3 years however we have had a shower that’s needed to be fixed basically all year. I am sure it had been reported.
amazing accommodation staff but some areas lacking.
Overall, my experience at Cathedral Campus has been positive and I have enjoyed making friends along the way. The staff on-site have always been very helpful and quick to respond to any issues I might have, whether that be a broken shower or leaking tap.
Really enjoyed my time here. The site team and everyone that comes to support at events has been really welcoming and made me feel at home whilst I've been here.
Great place, extremley close if you study at LIPA, really convenient
Fantastic location worth 6 stars really, however the cleaner who cleans the kitchen and bathroom once every two months (I think that’s what it was) left just before Christmas and another was never hired which isn’t a massive issue but we thought we would have that all year.
It's within a 5 minute walking distance to my university. They've been great at hosting small events throughout the year, and is always friendly at the reception.
Close to town and University, Problems are fixed quickly and very friendly/helpful site staff.
Lovely people at reception but not much social space
Public student accom but majority lipa students good to meet people on other degrees
Good location, communal spaces could be bigger. Bigger bedrooms and more storage
If you want to live in a prison... this is the place for you! Cathedral are really great and pride themselves on their no fun policy. If you love going to bed every night at 10:59 then I would definitely advise living here. If you were to be caught sat on your house wall talking to your neighbour at 11:03pm, you would receive emails containing warnings about breaking their student friendly rules (true story). Why they think the rules are suitable for 18-21 year olds is completely beyond me. STAY AWAY!!
Was worst halls on the list, was so rubbish! Thank goodness I made a lot of friends or I would’ve been miserable
