The best place to study. Feels like home.
The university is good but I do not like the city and the weather.
Good university, good clubs all very close to accommodations. All buildings also close to accommodations, walking distance. Big library.
The university is really amazing and supports you not only with coursework, but also career-wise and health-wise. I had an amazing time at Portsmouth. The only minus is the Student Union, which takes weeks to respond to any emails and has closed down the only university bar.
Had the best time! Best 3 years of my life!
Really enjoying it here and the support is worth a lot to every student here.
Enjoying my time so far, best uni to choose
Good Uni staff are very friendly. Excellent support services.
Very good , It would be better to improve the cooking room
I’ve been to three universities and this was by far the best! Lectures were great, the lecturers were really helpful and the night life was even better!
Was a last minute decision to come to Portsmouth uni, but it was the best decision I could’ve made! Everything is in walking distance, and the business school is amazing! Even though the place is rather big you build a close relationship with people as you tend to bump into them on nights out - Purple Wednesday’s FTW! The only downside is that the SU bar has shut this year :( but tbh there’s pubs, bars and clubs on your doorstep so there’s no problem really. Also Rosalind Franklin (James Watson) is probably the most social accommodations, I love it!
Great facilities for all courses, you really get the full university experience here
It offers many opportunities outside of academics. You learn a lot by working with different people throughout the university and its very diverse.
The facilities and resources are plentiful and teaching staff give you a lot of opportunities for feedback and assistance
I love Portsmouth University, the campus is based around the city but buildings aren’t too far away, the university buses are really good at getting you around the city. The library is a fantastic facility, the lecturers are all extremely nice as well as other staff such as study support. It is ultimately a really friendly & nice place to study.
Great uni, excellent lecturers
Portsmouth is a great city to work and study in. I study in the Eldon buildig which has an affordable art shop and beautiful lecture theatre, as well as good computer labs and large studios.
Studied my Undergrads here and loved it! Great lectures and amazing place to live for 3 years! Would honestly recommend it to anyone who's serious about their studies in a progressive university such as Portsmouth
For Sports Science the lectures are either long, boring, pointless, bants or just dead. but the practical and labs are good. They'll offload loads of info onto you which is frustrating at times
Everything's decent but the wifi
A beautiful place to live and study
Nice Experience over the 4 years I spent there.
Great uni! Always has something going on, I wish there were even more ways to meet new people and socialise other than small societies
Everything in this university is well organized. They are committed to help their students in all possible ways and help them with all sorts of problems they are facing. They have a really good career and employment support team to help the students to get their placement or job they always wanted.
24/7 library is probably the best thing about Portsmouth.
Really good facilities, put students needs first
I started suffering with my mental health and was unable to attend uni for 6 weeks. My lecturers were fully aware of the situation even to what medication I was on and how much I was taking. I got to the end of the course with very little support from the uni, and said that I was unable to pass. 3 years later I am now taking the course again at Hull and it's amazing. Portsmouth certainly shook my confidence, and worsened my mental health.
Best 3 years ever, amazing clubs and societies and plenty of support for essay writing, mental health and careers
A nice uni very close to city centre - everything is near by/within walking distances.
Wish the union bar came back! Love this uni
Really good lectures and an amazing campus. The social life and night life is incredible. WiFi was awful in halls but around campus is decent. The library is amazing and computers work perfectly. People are nice and good atmosphere. Careers services are not as good as I'd expect and I got asked to leave when accidentally going to careers advice in the wrong faculty
Exelent uni with nightlife ,study, travel and the best teachers to learn you
My experience has so far not been the best
Good uni overall. Especially careers advisor. Night life and plenty of shops and pubs to go to
Great uni overall. Just don't do mechanical engineering there. Only theory, no practical experience whatsoever. Uni only care about their image.
Student union has no pool tables
Incredible education facility, amazing support with weekly tutor meetings, and the high lecture and seminar attendance rate shows how great they are
Great services provided, the union has closed as it was so unpopular and expensive. Clubs are very cheap but all play the same kind of music and aren’t too big
I absolutely love it here. I’ve been able to study a really up to date and specified course and have found a society that allows me to thrive within my other interests. Living and going out is really reasonable compared to other places. Also being by the sea is a massive bonus.
The best student hub which caters to all your needs.
I had the best time at the University of Portsmouth! The School of Civil Engineering and Surveying was a great place to start my journey into Civil Engineering! The staff really care about the students and are willing to help them all to achieve the best possible results! The careers service (SPEC) is next to none and provide us with all the information and expertise needed to apply for placements and role post University. All the lecturers are knowledgeable in their area and have worked in industry, giving the lectures more of a realistic feel!
As soon as the union shut the uni has gone downhill. Nowhere for students to meet up and socialize. Absolute madness
I wouldn’t recommend this at all. The uni doesn’t care abouts it’s students. While I was at uni I was suffering really bad with mental health and didn’t attend one lecture because of it. The lecturers are aware of attendance levels but not once did they attempt to contact me to see if I was okay. Also the student facilities are awful. I was in a flat that had extreme damp meaning I was ill all the time. Do not go here it will ruin your mental health if you do.
Really nice city to live in with lots of support available- just a shame that the union decided not to listen to the students and shut the union bar
The staff and facilities are very good. The library is amazing with access to almost all online articles and journals and books needed. The area and accommodation is amazing
Alright uni, wants to bigboy uni but will never quite get there.
Not many societies that I was interesting in, but a fair amount of events going on throughout term and a lovely campus with great facilities
Architecture student.. great facilities, great tutors & lectures and lovely building.
I am in my First year and the facilities are amazing and WIFI is very fast all over campus throughout all builings
Fantastic University, highest quality of teaching standard in the UK, happiest students in the UK and the most skilled graduates in a relaxed but educational learning system.
Portsmouth is a home away from home. Teachers are friendly and they make sure you understand what they teach.
Uni is so average, the town is atrocious and students are getting attacked, followed etc nearly every day and the uni fails to address it? A joke
One of the best choice of my life it offer everything and it's very organized
The best university you could possibly go to! Find your home away from home at this top class education facility.
Great place with caring teachers and great facilities to study!
A great feeling uni. Great staff, teaching & city - let down with some facilities, the lack of a student bar and expensive halls.
Generally has good facilities but most buildings and lecture theatres are not very wheelchair friendly :(
Good uni, good facilities and places to work
The university is great overall. The course is tailored for the my future with feedback from industry panels. So many societies and clubs, obviously some are better than others. Free wifi across campus thats not slow. Career event atleast once a month. Student union does a lot and its quite major if you get involved with it.
Been here a year. Most welcoming place ever.
This university is very focused on how many students they want to take and not how to improve the quality of teaching for those students. I really enjoyed my time there but I think that they need to look at what their main focus is and should be
Great uni with great staff and facilities
Wellbeing is s*** but everything else I don’t think I’d change
Studied at Portsmouth for 5 years total, undergrad and masters, overall good experience, great uni that is still improving.
Aweful union/university only caring about league tables and not the student experience.
I had a great time learning at this university, staff are great and always assist when needed. Every building is within 15 minutes walking which makes it a great campus.
Great nights out and the uni staff really care about the students
Brilliant uni! Great atmosphere and excellent courses
Perfect uni and perfect campus in the heart of the city
Portsmouth is a great student ctiy. The staff have always been very helpful and kind. It sucks the Union closed. The waterhole bar, so there is no uni bar but there is a lot of pubs and bars around.
Amazing uni with amazing facilities, teachers and nightlife
Incredibly supportive after the death of my father, both pastorally and academically.
The university itself is pretty good, I cant really fault it apart from the lack of things to do during the evenings other than clubbing - but most people like that I think I am just boring as I would prefer more pubs near by xD
Brilliant service and accomodation. Good nightlife and support from the uni!
The staff are friendly and committed to helping students. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes you feel like home.
What I really like about Portsmouth University is the fact though it’s a huge campus, you feel like you’re at home. Everybody is friendly, it’s easy to get from one point to another with the uni bus. Clubs are overall safe which makes you love the city even more.
Loved it, graduated last year, Going back for a reunion in two weeks! Just wish union was better
Had a fantastic time at Portsmouth! Would definitely recommend it to anyone considering going to uni in future!
it’s not ranked as high as you think, complete money grabbers and destroy your dreams of what you truly want to do and judgemental lecturers, they never used to run like this AVOID this place!!
Love it mate, fun times. Just wished the waterhole was still open
Wonderful university, thank you for the best 4 years!
City center can be a bit off but the uni is good and the library is well stocked
The university of Portsmouth is a fantastic University for studying within the creative industries. It has excellent facilities, experienced, industry minded staff members and a continually updating curriculum. The Creative careers and employability services are fantastic for finding part time work, graduate positions and work placements. A very active student union with a broad array of societies help in making connections with like minded students.
It is a good university where it provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skill. Those can access to the real industry.
Great student city and support services
Amazing university with many facilities to support you and help you achieve your best
I had a fantastic time at Portmsouth
It’s an amazing university to explore yourself and get the best out of yourself
Excellent Experience, absolutely loved Portsmouth!
Everyone is lovely lectures are really informative and the equipment provided is out of this world, and have learnt a lot about not only my subject but also how to be an adult
Great uni and completely under rated. Would gladly do my masters here.
Support for Aspergers has been amazing, the campus is spread out so I find that it’s less busy when i get inside the building I need to be in.
Loving Portsmouth. Living in Southsea, being on a city campus next to the water is something you don't find often. Wifi can be dodgy at times though apart from that everything has been perfect so far.
The facilities are really nice and get updated regularly. Accommodation is okay but is a bit expensive.
Good facilities, helpful staff and good study contents.
Everything is in the city centre and close - the campus is laid out very open so you feel you are always at Uni, even when you are walking about in the city. Safe and secure
University of Portsmouth had everything i needed
It’s alright. Lit nights out nice people
The campus is close together, leading everywhere to be within walking distance — even university halls, which is a great help. The clubs and societies I have attempted to join aren’t great — I was ignored as a new member as I was quiet, which led to me not returning. The union is fantastic, and their bar and support services are brilliant. I haven’t focused on the Careers Service too much, but the connections I made with the Well-being Centre were not strong and ultimately disappointing. The WiFi is just fine.
You're in for a wild ride going to University of Portsmouth. You will love it. And you will learn, too!
