Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is fantastic, don't mess us up with BCU
Been here 4 years and is still a fab uni :)
Amazing university, with great staff and support.
Good wifi, lovely modern building and campus which I love.
I’m in first year and so far so good. Don’t have anything to complain about. Good campus however more social events could be held
Great university teachers and lecturers are very kind
There is a lot to do in Birmingham
Bcu has been great, lots of help and great for learning
It feels to me that the student union only really consists of the eagle and ball, which is very small and doesn’t feel student oriented. However I do think the university itself has brilliant facilities, support and communication and I enjoy my course!
I like the uni however compared to other universities their student union is a club / fun environment to be in whereas the bcu is very small and formal.
University amenities for students are very limited and poor
The cost for the years is too expensive considering there is no semester 3 teaching
Nice campus area and friendly environment
Birmingham City University has amenities for students aid, lectures willing to help students in their educational endeavors it is a great experience learning at BCU.
I’m very happy with the facilities, the staff are so helpful and are more than happy to offer extra support which is so appreciated. one concern is that the careers part is usually booked up very difficult to get an appointment, but that must mean it works! i have not joined any clubs or societies but i have friends that have and they enjoy it so much and have recommended to me on multiple occasions
decent university, does what the intention is
Birmingham City University is a very nice and comfortable place. I love the way of study here. The teachers are kind and they teach you until you understand
I enjoy the community and the staff around the area
good university safe campus helpful professors
Not applicable! I don't want to speak about it.
Good so far but want improvement in application
Decent enjoyanle experience here :) Love the professors tho!
It is a really good school, I have been here a few weeks and i really enjoy it.
Staff are amazing and very helpful. Timetables are not too busy so students have time for studying.
wouldnt wanna be anywhere else
It’s a good experience and great university!
wish the wifi could be a lot faster
Modern University with great facilities and nice people
It’s ok but support could improve
It’s a great uni in a great location, many services in place to help
Staff memebers are very supportive, facilities are available and I am enjoying my first year in bcu so far
The lecturers are all really helpful and friendly. I like it here.
I am studying in Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the university here is great.
BCU is a good university as there is useful and kind staff working to teach us and to give advice with. And the student pub is amazing as it's good value for money and brilliant pizzas by the chef John
A nice university with practical- and career-oriented courses and a fantastic students' union which provide plenty of opportunities for engaged students. Wi-fi reliability needs significant improvements. More social spaces in collaboration with BCUSU are needed.
Honestly no complaints. BCU gives students a voice they didn't know they had
Bcu is good to study engineering, business and economics
It’s a good university for education but nothing else.
good uni would definitely recommend
Good library helpful staff,.......
Great service cant wait to stay for next year
BCU provides a vast amount of interesting and unique opportunities both socially and career-wise.
nice campus and good societies
My first impressions of campus were not perfect, I felt lost and received little guidance. I also had a problem with my enrollment where I was not able to use my student card for a couple of days. I joined the university football team and for some reason, the sports facilities are far from the city centre campus. This is my experience 3 months after enrolling, I hope it gets better.
A great place to study, with outstanding facilities. Lots of places to study and work quietly and the modern facilities are enjoyable to work in. Staff are all helpful and there is lots of support around health and well-being. A great place to be a student and train for your career of choice.
Good uni for vocational degree
good university excellent facilities
Speaking purely based on experience of my course I had no problems with the course itself and found the lecturers to be very supportive. My campus is roughly 15 mins away from the city centre which makes travel and socialising easier and there are a lot of extracurricular actitivites available for those who wish to take advantage of that.
The City South Campus is very modern and provides lots of space to do learning and also your own private study with the help from lecturers and other staff on site.
The university is nice, however city South campus is not at the level of city centre campus, city centre is lots larger and more modern with a better study and social life
Birmingham City University are so supportive. The best university I would say in Birmingham :) forget the Russell group Universities.
So far it’s been okay I don’t really have any complaints
City South Campus is big and has lots of reasonable study or chilling spaces.
It’s an amazing university and it’s so welcoming the facilities are great
Good facilities, great equipment and staff
Lots of societies available to join! Some you lay lots of money for but not sure where that money actually goes because clearly not into the society. The campus is really nice and has a Starbucks!! They’re always doing little events that anyone can enjoy and they have a cute little pub!
The two campuses are great, i spend most of my time at the city center campus which has great travel links. There is a lack of clubs/societies at the university and i feel this is the lengthy process they need to create a new society. The wifi is great, fast, and reliable never had any issues with it. When it comes to jobs and placements the uni is great at helping you with this. Through their own links and helping with CVs and things like that.
BCU is a great university which allows new and current student’s opportunities to excel and get the most out of their degree course!
Uni have been supportive no matter what and are always willing to solve issues you may have.
It’s a good university really nice
The staff are lovely and help you in any best way
Staff are welcoming Facilities are good
Very conducive environment and a lovely space to develop and grow
Undertook a PGCE, look at their recent Ofsted report for yourself (May 2022) as they will try to hide how bad it is. If you like being patronised and treated like a child this is the place for you. Cruel leadership, lack of empathy throughout and a toxic "us and them" mentality from lecturers. Do as most of us wish we had done and get yourself onto a SCITT, you learn basically nothing from BCU that helps in teacher training anyway (I had 1 meaningful observation in the whole time I was there) so cut out the middle man and save yourself ten grand. Wish I had never enrolled in such a poorly coordinated and outright nasty establishment. Expect no help, however if you want to prove to yourself that you can thrive despite the abject shambles of an environment and lack of support, feel free to enroll.
The experience overall wasn't likable, I hoped to feel part of a BCU at my time there, I traveled all the way from my country to study at BCU to find that most of the lectures was online. We didn't had any activities to get involved into BCU community or Birmingham community on our time there. After graduation, no changes on my life happened at all. Nothing was as i hoped for or expected on the day I applied to BCU which i knew by then it's one of the best in a city it i love.
It is an excellent exposure for international students in terms of education, extra curricular activities. Library is the best.
The facilities are good etc.. however teaching is appalling.
Average experience, lovely tutors
Anyone looking to study ar BCU be assured that your experience will be great! Teachers, and also staff in general were amazing and helpful
Good university, enjoying my course.
For a university Camus it is really welcoming and inviting. I enjoy spending my days within the building.
Awful standard of teaching across the board, does not react to feedback (despite constantly asking for it), little to no social space, no campus feel due to buildings spread around the city. Would not recommend to anyone.
No massive complaints about the uni. There's plenty of opportunities to work on open days etc to earn, and weekly tutor meetings to discuss issues with modules.
Overall great facilities. Sometimes a pain to book certain facilities.
For the moment I joined BCU I was made to feel like apart of the BCU family. I am so happy I chose BCU as my university, the lectures are amazing and so are the course leaders and the team. I’m at city south doing nursing and the facilities deserve more then a 5 star, it’s amazing! Can’t wait to continue my course here.
Very good uni, I have no complaints
Most good though there are improvements to be made. 1. Support services are not what they were promised to be. I have trouble with anxiety so signed up for some CBT. I waited for 40 minutes past the scheduled time and she never showed up. I emailed her once home and was told I should have reminded her. Just a little unprofessional... 2. Support statements are not passed onto staff as I was told they would be. This has led to many uncomfortable situations and definitely impacted my grades in the first year. I almost left university after telling staff I was too ill to come and present to them due to a chronic health condition. I said I would come and hand in my work as I lived very close by but couldn't do more than that. I was in pain and hadn't slept more than 4 hours over a couple of days. I was the bullied into presenting. As you can imagine, I couldn't concentrate and the lowest grade I have ever had.
It is a great specialised university that attends to the need of my field very well!
The university is a very helpful and welcoming place of education, especially the Curzon Building having a great library and plenty of areas for studying ranging from completely silence to a more relaxed yet still study environment. Having great covid-19 and overall health and safety measures in place. As well as lord of communication via email to students on any changes / help and support for us.
BCU is a great university. I think that it’s the best university in Birmingham if I do say so. I think it’s fun and it’s welcoming and comfortable
The standard of teaching is good for niche subjects like mine, the sound engineering course has loads of facilities for students like me. There’s lots of job opportunities too
Haven’t experienced too much because of the lockdown and restrictions, but it’s decent so far
Overall a good university. Lots of places to study and get work done!
The internet is weak but the teaching is solid, facilities are great and the campus is split into 3 very professional sections
Deciding to go to BCU was probably the best last minute decision I’ve made in my life. People are friendly, teachers are supportive and make sure you understand the work. The societies are fun and are a great chance to make friends. There’s always something going on. Last year was obviously dampened a bit by the pandemic so this year felt like my first year and it’s been great!
Good university very modern. A lot of things to do and easy to find your way around
My university is a good uni but due to covid we have not been able to have the full experience
My experience so far of the university has had its ups and downs. The main negative is that my lessons keep getting moved and I keep getting moved to a different classroom. The positive is the staff are so friendly and the facilities are great.
I genuinely enjoy having a starbucks everyday at uni x
The study facilities are pretty great but the wifi is spotty at best, especially in the newer part of the Curzon building. I found the SU to claim to be helpful but never received any help from them whatsoever, and the careers service don't know what they're doing. However, the teaching staff for the School of English are wonderful
Great place lotjssjsnsksksjns jaksjsksnb sksnnsn
Blended learning works really good.
Good experience Would definitely recommended
Very kind, supportive, understanding and on top of that very clean..
It’s a good university and I would recommend applying for a course there, especially healthcare
I cannot comment on the clubs and societies as I have not looked into them. The campus is lovely with lots of open spaces.
I enjoy attending this university however because i dont spend the longest time within the university i dont have much to say about the university
It’s a great place to study go be honest the best part is the library and it’s view
I want to end my life because of this university they have put me through so much I would rather not live anymore, not supportive one bit.
BCU has offered a wide range of benefits while studying there! The quiz night supplied by the students union is the best so far!
