All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Rooms and ambience is perfect to stay universities are close as well the city centre. Just the pricing is bit high but rest all perfect.
Lived here for 2 years now, despite some delays with our move in due to contractors, has been good value for money and friendly staff. Some slight issues with painting/decorating, again due to contractors not the management, (as we stayed over summer there hasn’t been the opportunity for these to be redone so its fair enough) but overall good place to live and worth the money. Friendly staff and great to have around the clock staffing as either office team or security at night. Lots of social events and plenty of engagement opportunities if that’s your thing so easy to have a social life beyond your university experience.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Chamberlain Place, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always eager to help with any requests. The rooms are beautifully designed, spacious, and spotlessly clean, with modern amenities that made my stay incredibly comfortable. .If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, style, and excellent service, Chamberlain Place is definitely the spot to book. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!
Chamberlain place offers 10/10 service and has a very conducive environment for students.
Improved a lot ,kieran has been amazing ,lots of social events and activities and
I think chamberlain place is quite an awful place to live to be honest.. barring the ‘good location’ there are absolutely no needs to make the prices to live here terribly extortionate. The radiators don’t work and fall off the walls.. homeless people sneak in and defecate themselves in our entrances. Drug dealers hang outside our doors to pressure students to buy drugs and when said no , they are aggressive. I was promised £200 in September 2024 for referring a friend to live here, I was told to wait for it until January 2025, it is now February and I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT. It’s complete false advertising at this point and above that they are scamming students £300 a week to live in these conditions.. tricked into thinking it’s worth it because visually, the rooms ‘look appealing’
Very outstanding accommodation with great service
Good location and friendly staff.
Good overall experience so far. One of the staff members called Ben has been exceptionally helpful and contributed greatly to providing a positive experience with this accommodation
Great student accommodation with excellent facilities. A special thanks to Kieran, the new manager, for being super helpful and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Highly recommend!

Kieran is doing a great job his hard working and punctual since his taking charge. I have seen a massive improvement in building management
Great experience, good room size, spacious. Staff are polite and friendly. Everything is close by, good walking distance. Staff put in a lot of effort to provide for students such as events and social activities. Brilliant!
Great New management. Always friendly and efficient with any issues. Nice spacious studios and good gym
The location and facilities are amazing and Kieran is an amazing manager! Living here is so wonderful!
Loction location and people makes a difference
Good location if you are studying in Aston University. Everything in the room is quite new, the corridor is clean. Very good front desk service from Kieran, who just got promoted to become the new general manager.
Kieran is a great manager, things have changed for the better
Staff is really nice specifically Kieron that always keeps my parcels ready and intact!
Kierian & Milly really good people and helpful always and answering my questions in times of need
Very delighted with all the experience, ambience, treatment by staff, namely Mrs. Milly Deakin, Joe and Kiran for being most heartwarmingly helpful. highly recommend this place to all students, just wish I could be able to stay longer and cherish it all even more
Chamberlain is a good accommodation site to live at, I enjoy my time here, only difference I would prefer would be more attendance at the desk of the reception and more information upon payment of rent and use of the facilities.
My stay has been a misery here at chamberlain place. The management is terrible, there has been so many issues. Please read the google reviews before booking
