800 Bristol Road is located in the vibrant Selly Oak area of Birmingham. It’s ideally situated for students at the University of Birmingham as it's under a twenty-minute walk to all of the university’s campuses. Hello,
We are just a 10-15 minute walk away from the University of Birmingham.
We feel that Selly Oak is safe but we do have some tips to help if you feel unsure.
All of Selly Oak is very well lit with plenty of safe spots to drop into if you feel unsafe. We would always recommend to keep safe to let someone know you are walking back so they can expect you to return shortly, or alternatively we have all of the major travel links outside our front doors including the 61 and 63 bus, so you won't have to walk through Selly Oak if you decide not to.
We also promote to all students to Ask for Angela, where if you walk into any bar or establishment in the Selly Oak and request to speak to Angela, they will know you are not feeling safe and get you help immediately. This has been rolled out across Selly Oak and it's good to know in any situation should you feel you need it.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Not very good sound insulation otherwise everything is fine
clerks here are really friendly，I really feel satisfied after I lived here. The gym is pretty clean and I enjoy exercising here.
The environment is very good, the location is good, and the staff are very responsible.
The management staff's attitude was extremely bad after you left. Two months later, I am still waiting for the rent and deposit that have not been returned. They ignore your email and request, I don't know why. Don't check in here or you'll be begging for a refund every day. No one answer your request.

The property has a nice location near the Selly oak shopping park with sainsburys, M&S, Iceland and sorts. But the management team is indeed poor as the opening hours is 9-5 Mon-Fri. Yes that is a student accommodation not a bank. Plus the manager is a bit too involved in social networking as she loves to monitor group chat messages and will send a warning once she thinks something could go wrong. The. constant off fire alarm is a burden but that does not compare the nearly no sound proof between the room and the corridors. Overall if you are suffering from hearing problems and is incredibly patient this place is ideal. Otherwise I would recommend Battery Park just across the street as they did a better job, for the same amount of money.

Whilst I am pleased to see you enjoy the facilties we provide at 800 Bristol Road, I am sad to see that you have some concerns and your stay with us is not quite 5*. I'd like to respond to a couple of the points you have made and hopefully this will help. Our office opening times are stipulated on our website so you would have known this information at the time of booking with us. As we are a smaller student accommodation building, if we had teams on the desk 24/7 then we would be open when most of our students are sleeping. Our office opening times are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm and we also have an on-call process for out of hours. This includes student wardens, a full security team and also the property manager being on call for the event of any escalations and we are very responsive in supportung our students when the office is not open. If you have a concern about noise, then please do report this to our teams so we can investigate and this includes during out of hours and we will resolve this following the procedures. With regards to the social media, the property team are in the WeChat group and we monitor just to make sure everyone is okay. We rarely respond to the conversation in there unless there is a message directed at us or if there is negative behaviour which we address with students directly as opposed to within the group. We have only ever removed one person for direct conflict after repeated warnings but besides that, the property team do not interfere unless necessary. The team at 800 Bristol Road work hard to deliver an excellent service and this is generally the case if you read our previous reviews over the years. The location is good which is quite near to the groceries. And the living environment are clean and nice. However it will be better if there is 24/7 staff around in consider the higher price than other student commendation. Furthermore the reception is out of service sometimes. Management team efficiency should be improved rather than let students shoulder the inconvenience, given the higher fees we already pay.

Definitely a fabulous place to stay! The studios here are spacious and are well-equipped with microwave, oven and smart TVs. The staff team is really friendly and helpful and they get things sort out efficiently :)

I'm a student who just moved in this year and I'm glad I made the decision. I had a very comfortable stay at 800 Bristol Road. The heating of the apartment is very warm in winter, and the size of the space is very suitable for their own living. There are many cupboards for storing things. In addition, it is very convenient to get to school and the city center. There is a bus stop right in front of the apartment. In addition, it is about 15 minutes' walk from school. Even if you don't like walking, you can take a bus. The front desk staff were very friendly and patient to solve my problems. It's also very convenient to pick up the delivery. In addition, the front desk will prepare some snacks from time to time, I like it very much! In short, I highly recommend you to stay!

Very friendly staff, clean common areas, lots of amenities, walking distance to uni, my only concern is that staff isn’t around after 5pm and on weekends. It would be great to have someone around 24/7. Other than that great experience!

This is my second year at 800 Bristol Road, and I am so happy with my decision. The location is perfect, I don’t feel isolated or secluded from the city. University is close enough to walk to, but there’s still a direct student friendly bus line in case. There is also a student friendly bus line to the city center. The space itself is very clean and well kept, and the staff are very friendly, respectful, and flexible. I’d highly recommend this accommodation to any international student looking to have a wonderful university experience while still living in a more private accommodation.

It is a great experience living in 800 Bristol Road. I really like the style of my studio. It has a large space and facilities are good for use. The management team is friendly and helpful. The location is great as well, you can take a walk to supermarkets and the university. Especially, this accommodation is very safe in the context of COVID.

Really great studios, love the colours and design (mostly neutrals and nothing too loud) the staff are nice and we get cool freebies every now then (hoodies, snacks e.t.c) location is also really good as stores like poundland and iceland are closeby (really affordable) and other grocery stores such as aldi, tescos and sainsbury’s are all within walking distance. I definitely recommend

The studio is clean and bright and have almost everything you might need. The style of the room is unique and I like it. That's the main reason I chose here. Wifi speed is fast and all other facilities such as laundry room, gym ect are reasonable and easy to ues. The staff here are really friendly and helpful, and the location is good. You can get everything you want by walk, it also near to the train station and not far away from the university.

Excellent accommodation in a great location, close to shops, university and train station. Great social spaces, with an onsite gym and cinema room. Property management staff have been great in fixing any issues that may arise, as well as keeping up morale during the pandemic, with occasional well-being checks, and small care packages.

The accommodation is located super close to the uni and all major shops, and train into town is only 10 mins as well. Staff are really friendly and will help you with anything! The rooms have their own kitchen and en-suit so it's nice and quiet. Would really recommend!

800 is perfect. I love the decoration of the room and the communal spaces are great for hanging out. Sam the manager is friendly and always has a smile and helps you with your problems. It is a bit further away than other student places but it’s not too bad and actually means you get to exercise and have shops across the road. I love it here :)

800 accommodation is a great experience on the whole. The location is great, and it is near the supermarket and school. The reception service is very good. The room is also spacious and bright!

800 Bristol Road is a new building as it's only 3 years' old. It has loads of communal spaces on the ground floor which are perfect for having friends over to visit or to entertain your family - the Dinner Party Room has a huge oak table for 10 people, and the site team can dress it so it feels very bespoke and friendly. The bedroom has everything you need - they're bigger than other studios in Selly Oak and have all the facilities you might need. The study spaces are really comfortable and meet your needs. The gym on site is really well equipped and saves you a fortune on a local gym membership. It means that in the winter months you can still be safe and exercise so you don't lose out. The site team are really friendly and will always put the students first. 800 Bristol Road really is the perfect space for studying but also for feeling part of a community, a home away from home.
