Unbearable smelly corridors and shared kitchens. On weekends the bin store and kitchens get overflown with garbage bags. The learning center (study room) they're so proud of, is always busy you'd be lucky if u could find a table for a couple of hours without being kicked out by another student who've already booked it. The staff are soo RUDE making u feel like ur begging for a table at the learning center!!!!! It's not like we're using the damn learning center for free !!!! We paid to use the facilities!!!! Worst staff and worst accommodation
Great central and modern halls of residence with hall services around 24/7 for any needs. Halls are cleaned 5 days a week which is excellent and the halls have a bus stop with links to uni just outside.
Great new, clean and central halls of residence. Good halls management and services on site for any needs. Cleaners come everyday but not on weekends which is also a bonus.
Good clean, new and secure halls of residence. The halls are central and have good bus connections to and from the university just outside the halls entrance. However could do with improved wifi connection and less instructive staff who frequently enter the flat without any warning.
Generally quite a nice hall. Right in the city centre and being next to the train station is a big plus. One big issue is that the staff here have the word 'I don't care' written all over their faces, and are quite inefficient.
I have lived in Mayflower halls in 2014-2015 and in 2015-2016 -At the city centre very close to the train and coaches -Bus from the halls to the university (less than 15 minutes) -New built in 2014 -very fast internet The bad things are the following: -The rooms are not ventilated at all. Only a bath fan that is not enough -The room gets really hot especially in summer (~27 C in the room!) -Too much noise. People stay in the front yard until 5am yelling and shouting. Halls reception does not take any action against that except for the exam periods (~5 w/yr) -Washing machines too expensive and really dirty -The bed mattress is really bad quality -Halls stuff enter room for various reasons approximately 15 times per year. -Very unfriendly stuff -One of the two elevators out of order for 5 months in a 16-floor building -Kitchen (shared) really dirty although cleaned daily. -Cleaning stuff do not take care of the vacuum cleaner although in their duty -not good for PGRs
Year of Living: 2014/15 Room Type: Cat 2 Ensuite (Premium) Starting off, a huge benefit of Mayflower is it's LOCATION! Situated within the cultural quarter of Southampton you are just minutes away (easy walking) from the bustle of a live city. Whether it's shopping, fitness or nightlife that you are after, the location has it all- and when you can simply walk out of your door there are no travel expendatures to worry about! FACILITIES. Mayflower has now had 2 years to iron out the creases, and facilities now come top of the ratings as opposed to previous years and discussions. As a Hall's Committee member for Mayflower, I have seen it grow and develop for the best part of 1 1/2 years. Rooms & Flats: Your room & flat is your chance to splash some invention to the Mayflorian culture, whether that be a personal touch or something you create that trends across halls, every part is special. TRAVEL: Unilink has you sorted FOR FREE, 10mins Avenue, 15mins to Highfield, 12mins to NOC!
Really amazing halls. Brand new and super modern, massive kitchens, spacious bedrooms, and lovely views from most rooms.
Brand new halls, although they weren't finished when we moved in. Not that close from campus but free direct bus for freshers, nice walk when it's warm, and biking is amazing. In the center, close to clubs, bars and to most of the restaurants. Big halls, expensive but much better compared to other halls. Depends what you're looking for.

Amazing location, great facilities, lovely rooms
It is the best place to live!! I know people will be put off because of the location; it is a 20 minute bus ride to the university, but the city location is actually better. Plus a bus ride is a part of life, where you can have catchups with friends on the way! There are endless things to do: shopping is easy either food-wise or clothes, considering the huge asda only 3 minute walk away, or West Quay which is a few minutes further, whereas students in other halls have to get the bus here. It is walking distance to all the main clubs so no taxis or buses are needed, and better to find work also. The halls are beautifully designed and each flat is so clean and new, unlike the other halls of accommodation which have been used for years. Plus every room has an en-suite which is a definite plus!! I couldn't love this place more - there are people all around, and it gives you oppurtunities to meet other Solent university students and locals on a night out! Mayflower love xo
fantastic residence support who have looked after me will all my worries . Prime location for jobs in retail and bars and restaurants
Great for those who like their social life and night life. Very good quality rooms, all with en-suite as well as an on-site gym and convenience store, but all this does cost a fair bit, but I would highly recommend.
