Stenton hall is very central on the university campus, it is a very social space, particularly for first year students as it is surrounded by Stenton Halls, Stenton Townhouses, Child’s Hall, and very close to Mccombie and Mackinder too. It does have a social space of park lounge, where a range of events are held for students in halls, and this can be found alongside Park bar which is another social space that is very popular for students. The rooms are well equipped and the kitchen cupboards are spacious- perfect for student accommodation.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The staff were very helpful, this was the second year I lived in halls and whilst everything was very good I did not enjoy living in stenton as much as bridges. However almost everything was perfect apart from one major issue. The premium price comes with the expectation of a functioning lift, one of the listed perks of the hall. However, the lift in the building that I was staying in broke around March and was not fixed when I left in June. Other than that I would recommend stenton as a good enough hall.
Hi, Thank you so much for your feedback and review! We're glad to hear that our staff were helpful and that you had a good experience during your second year in halls. We're sorry to hear that the timeline of fixing the lift fell below expectations. The lifts in the halls are tested to the highest standards. However, as with all lifts occasionally they can break down. We have set response times for resolving all issues reported to the Halls Hotline. This will be advised to you once it is reported either over the phone, by email or app. If a specialist part or contractor is needed in order to fix the matter the above times may be extended, and you will be advised. Where possible, we will provide you with a temporary solution in the interim. If you would like to discuss further or share more detailed feedback, please do reach out on accommodationonline@reading.ac.uk or 0118 200 5011. Kind Regards, The Reading Accommodation Team

The location is excellent and very close to the campus and most lecture locations. The cleaning staff were very thorough and always left the kitchen sparkling. There were times when maintenance took a little while to come but would fix any issues when they did arrive.

Was overall good , but things like the lift would be broken weekly and there were no cameras so therefore the whole building got charged for others mistakes

No space for socialising within the accommodation besides kitchen wasn’t great and had a lot of maintenance issues, but close proximity to park bar/wash, coop and main campus was good.

Only thing to note about Stanton halls is the lack of social space. Most unis have a lounge area in the kitchens for socializing as opposed to just a long table. Or an idea could be to implement more benches or seating in communal areas and outdoors

I had a great experience it's close to the university, very clean and safe but it's very overpriced.

Really comfortable and modern flat and room with amazing view of the forests from the window. Close to literally everything on campus, safe. I would say very pricey.

Overpriced for that it is, lift has broken from December till the end of the academic year. Kitchen was good size but had issues with cupboards and hinges when we moved in.

Extremely expensive for a student, it is unfair how much the price has risen over the years. Yes, it's in a convenient location, the cleaning and maintenance teams are lovely, but it's horrendous for domestic students who do not get the maximum of loan.

A perfect hall for those who like to be social. Great location as perfect distance from all areas on campus.
Hi, Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it here at Reading! We’re really pleased you enjoyed your time living here. Kind Regards, The Reading Accommodation Team
Stentons a pretty good hall location wise. I’d say out of mackinder, childs and Windsor Stenton is probably the best one in that accommodation area due to the location. It is close to the student bar as well as to campus where it’s only a 8-10 minute walk to campus. Social life is good where as the bar is near it is easy to meet new people there. Rooms are quite nice where they are spacious and the bathroom is especially nice. I would highly recommend this hall for reading uni. Only disadvantage is that it is quite expensive for what you’re getting.

Great accommodation. Lost Internet a few times but would be back up by the next morning.
Clean modern accommodation with very large rooms and lots of storage space. Limited social areas however.
It is a really modern and well kept student halls, with spacious rooms. The location of the halls is ideal for students, as it is located next to park bar. Reception, laundry and centre of campus are all very close to the halls.
the rooms are lovely and the flat gets cleaned regularly yet it is very expensive for what it is. the kitchens having no sofas made it uncomfortable to socialise with your flatmates and it didn't have that homely feel
Stenton offered great value for money, nice facilities and good location, but I did not enjoy living in my flat due to the loudness, the people and the lack of sofas/comfortable common areas.
Best location with the best ensuite rooms!
Internet: amazing (im a gamer) Social life: depends on your flat mates Social places: next to park bar (the standard uni bar) Security: they are harsh and exceptionally mean Rooms: very nice although u have less floor space with double bed rooms Cleaning: they clean kitchens every week and toilets as well for townhouses Location: 7 min walk to the middle of campus Noise: walls and windows pretty sound proof
Nice having an en-suite but over priced
Loved Stenton halls! The social life was great - the rooms were modern and had en-suites
I lived in a shared house in first year, not Peter Taylor, but it's the only one that came up. that they've stopped letting out to students as it was so bad. Didn't have a full sized bed so my feet were hanging off. Housemates smoked weed all the time. Very dingy, not a nice experience
I have thouroughly enjoyed these halls, particularly because the facilities are brand new and well kept!
Great location on campus, fantastic sized rooms and bathrooms, internet is great the majority of the time, only downfall is the kitchen in the flat is the only place you can socialise and it isn't the coziest of places, other than that it is maintained well and the people are even better.
The location is very good as it is close to everything
its fun but we need a big common area for all students to bond, bigger freezer
Would highly recommend this hall as it's definitely one of the most social at Reading with the facilities being absolutely amazing.
Stenton is really good. It's close to everywhere, and the rooms are quite good.
Fun times is very fun times over here
Great location, situated on campus with less than 5 minutes walk to the main hub. Has a laundrette, bar and post room within less than a minutes walk.
Expensive but lovely and clean and everything works. Perfect location, near park bar but also campus central.. no common room but isn't a problem we have kitchens
Great spacious halls that have been kept right up to date.
The hall is very lovely and modern; only built 2 years ago. The value is alright but not the best.
Overall the Stenton Hall is very good for its bathrooms and it's kitchen. The only qualm I have with the halls is that there is no common room for the flat to relax in. Relaxing in the kitchen can be quite uncomfortable after a while and we had to bring a couch to make it more enjoyable.
Room was nice although the shower was a bit too small and the mattress was pretty bad and uncomfortable. The kitchen was nice although the cupboards were a bit rubbish and the fridge/freezers were too small for 8 people and the fact that there was only one oven meant that it restricted when you could cook.
Not a good hall to meet people in there is nowhere to hang out in your flat and it is too expensive
Very clean and modern hall, although is fairly pricey due to the proximity to London. Overall this was great accommodation.
Nice location - central of campus. Cleaners weren't the most friendly.
Amazing location, amazing room & kitchen, really expensive but almost worth it for the ensuite & really good hob.
really good hall great place to meet people and socialise at the bar
Living in Stenton the last year has truly been a wonderful experience, I've met many people and felt so comfortable in my flat with a lovely sized room for myself and a close knit group of people to chill out in Park Bar with for example.
Not having wifi in halls was really annoying and the yearly price has gone up ~£500 despite no obvious improvements!
Too expensive for what it is, rules so strict you can't do anything. Cleaning extremely poor.. do more as a flat than the cleaners do.
stenton is a decent hall in a decent location, plenty of people around to meet, however it is expensive and I have found management/ cleaning slightly utilitarian at times
