The facilities and the courses are alright. But I personally think the MSc course is really stressful because I find myself 'carrying' the team in group assignments because we can't choose our own groups. It makes me frustrated because some of the groupmates I have are not lazy, but they genuinely don't know how to do the work. So I ended up correcting everything they wrote, and it became an individual work. This is a problem especially I am a person who is trying to get an 'honour' for my studies.
It is a great university located in the center of the city! I just love Glasgow because of this university
I absolutely love this place and there's no other place I'd rather live. Helena, Jerry, Dave, Scott and Melissa they are the best people I've met and they take such amazing care of me! I feel right at home because of these warm hearted people♥️ Coming to the rooms, they are really good. I wished I had chosen a silver or gold room but nevertheless, bronze is equally great! The common area is vast and so great for house parties. They even have a meeting room which comes handy all the time! Choosing merchant studios was one of the best decisions I've made and I'm gonna miss this place a lot once I leave it just because of the above mentioned people. All love to merchant studios and I wish them all the luck!♥️♥️
Strathclyde is a good university, with remarkable professors and facilities. The campus is in the city centre of the city, which makes easy to access from different locations and there are always activities to do near to it.
Strathclyde is the top university for biomedical engineering, I cannot be more happy.
Nice to students and good facilities for us to use and study for
I study in the greatest business school (University of Strathclyde) in Scotland.
Love the uni. Absolutely. People make Glasgow, strathclyders make Strathclyde.
Good but could have more Uni student study space when not in lectures.
One of the best universities in Scotland offering you great career prospects.
I think the campus needs a bit of work. Unlike other universities it’s not that great. However, the reputation Of the university is excellent.
Good university with good services
Best University for business studies
Amazing - currently studying BioMed and facilities and lectures are so informative
Overall, the uni is not great. They're investing a lot in new campus buildings, but not in the staff or in the programmes. For example, the library often does not have any of the texts I need for class, but they have brand-new TV screens on the main floor. The new sports centre is great, but some of my lecturers are so over-worked that they often don't respond to emails or aren't available to meet. Strathclyde likes to pretend they are up there with Glasgow and Edinburgh, but the truth is that most students here are not motivated (a big problem with group projects) and employers don't look favourably on the uni as a whole (business and engineering is different, but if you've got the grades for those programmes, why not go to a uni that is actually good overall with a great reputation?). If you can get in somewhere better, don't waste your time here.
Very good university for business and chemistry.
Im doing a Physics Bsc and Ive enjoyed my course so far, the teaching is generally good and there is good study material online. Some university buildings are nicer than others, but overall it's been a good experience so far.
The University of Strathclyde is located in the downtown, and here's environment and history is enough time to understand and find out beautiful sense.
it is a good uni with good teaching and good services an
strathclyde is considered one of the top universities in scotland which i highly recommend
University was my best experience so far
it is the best UNI and it has the best stafF
its alright l guess but it has the best business school in glasgow
I don't know anything about clubs and societies .
Going to University of Strathclyde by walk takes 23 mins but if you wake up late, you can just take the train from Charing Cross train station which is 2 mins away from the Accommodation and by 15 mins max you’re in class
There are so many societies to choose from! People are always willing to help.
Excellent faculty and good swimming pool! The school staff is also very helpful
They have built new gym and swimming pool.
The University of Strathclyde is overall a great university. In my opinion, the overall structure and facilities could be better.
Eduroam sucks, everything else is okay!
i loved the campus and the city
Great place for socially Learning with the union and the university staff a real highlight and credit to Strathclyde.
Most facilities are new or really well kept. The societies are various and interesting so that everyone is able to find something interesting. The only problem is the Wi-Fi... even though I managed to use it I couldn't use the official one and just logged in as a guest (this only with my laptop... my smartphone worked just fine)
Even though the building are not always brand new, the services are great!
Even though I have chosen not to continue on at this university, I won't deny that it's excellent. My lecturers always sent me e-mails of various opportunities, and I had a mentor who did the same, as well as helping with some personal issues. The new gym is decent, and all the buildings are close together (only annoying thing is the hill). Clubs and societies wise, there weren't many that I cared for, and the one that I did apparently didn't run anymore; but societies are started and run by students, so I can't be mad at the uni for that. First year (keep in mind if you have high enough A-levels you can skip to second) was incredibly easy, which I actually liked because it was one year to relax, have fun and be introduced to Glasgow. The uni is right next to central, so you have all the shops you could possibly want right on your doorstop. Only thing I'll say is that it isn't really diverse; as someone of mixed race, I stuck out like a sore thumb on my course!
So far the university has all the boxes checked. A well armed library will help you get through any assessment or exam preparation. Being situated in Glasgow’s city centre there is always something to do. Whether staying on campus or venturing out to town, Strathclyde has it all.
Internet can be tricky but other than that the university is very considerate. It accepts all kinds of people and there is no discrimination. The union organizes a lot of projects as there are more than 170 clubs and societies and 52 sports teams.
I have had a terrible experience with this university. I studying for an Msc at the Business School, in marketing- aside from a few good lecturers, the content is outdated and the course secretary is extremely rude and unhelpful. The library is often dirty, and is not cleaned regularly, it also has a very limited range of books and very old computers, not to mention the lack of plug sockets. Many of the teaching staff are graduates of far lesser universities, and its obvious- it is clinging to its reputation and its not long before they slide down the rankings.
I have spent a long time at Strathclyde. Overall, my course experiences have been good ones. It is true what other reviewers say, wifi etc can be problematic. Marks can be slow in coming back, especially at exam times but this is not reflective in all modules/classes. The buildings themselves can be a pain. The campus dots all over the place and you can have a lecture at the top of town and a tutorial/lecture in another building a fair walk away starting at the time the last one ends. During most of my undergraduate degree, we were shunted between buildings all over the place for different classes despite being in the law school, which should have a solid base. Big money was spent refurbishing buildings for the showpiece subjects like the business school or the brand new sports hall etc, while we languished in, at times, downright shoddy rooms. On the whole, lecturers are good and approachable, although as with everything, you get the odd ones who could not be more unhelpful.
The university of strathclyde is considered one of the best universities in scotland in terms of learning quality, international students and services provided. Services and facilities are there for helping students during their settlement in Glasgow.
I am very disappointed with Strathclyde. I expected much more from this university becuase they introduce the uni as the best one in engineering field, do not believe it. Teaching is really bad. The organisation is terrible. You never get your feedback or marks on time. You send emails to the professors and they never reply. When you ask for help to prepare the exams because you have a doubt or something, they say that the study is independent....because they do not want to waste time on the students WHAT? so I will go to my exams still having doubts? because nobody cares about the students. The buildings are pretty old. I paid for my fees 5,500 pounds but they rised the price for next course. That will be almost 8,000 pounds.....crazy becuase it does not even cost 5,500. Any uni can be better.
As a graduate student now, coming from a good university I am very disappointed by this university. Completely disorganized, zero service, professors impossible to contact.
Library computers were infuriatingly slow. Don't bother to connect to the wifi as it just doesn't work. Even the lecturers have problems with it causing a big wait at the start of lectures.
PGDE was poorly run, poorly organised and offered very little in teaching education. Lectures cancelled, moved and sometimes the lecturer just didn't show up. The RME tutor's lectures were so pointless that only 4 people out of the 300 on the course bothered to turn up to his last lecture. The main focus and time during the course seemed to be teaching primary level mathematics, not how to teach primary level mathematics, but actual primary level mathematics. I would not suggest going to this university.
I have hated my time at Strathclyde University, and have been so disappointed with the teaching. There have been a couple of decent lecturers but most have been very unhelpful. Often you are given incorrect information. Students are scared to complain because people have had poor grades as a result. The teaching is terrible, I just feel that I could have learned more just reading textbooks at home - our year group's attendance has generally been very low throughout the three years I've been here. If you have any sort of personal circumstances (illness, death in the family), forget getting any sort of help. Staff make it perfectly clear that they don't care. When my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I had inappropriate comments made by lecturers and received zero academic support. I'm not the only one to have had bad experiences here. I really would not recommend this university to anyone.
Business school professors don't have any real world experience; just get left wing opinions about stuff Teaching rooms are crap Wi-Fi doesn't work in lecture rooms nor does AV
gym is small but ok the student union is better in supporting student and careers service have regular updates, wifi signal is poor. you have to get your own data.
A really friendly university in the heart of an amazing city. I am currently studying at Strathclyde Business School in a recently renovated building. Amazing atmosphere, friendly approach and high quality of teaching.
Everything is so slow at uni, service is horrible, no it support what so ever, in some courses tutors are unqualified. Don't want to mention the course but as an example - artist is teaching you biochemics.
The most disorganised, unprofessional, bordering on abusive environment I have ever had the misfortune to be in. The staff don't know what's going on, don't care if you have problems, and will pass the buck at any and every opportunity. I was bullied by my tutor and had two members of staff outright refuse to help me. The university will do nothing. Avoid this place like the plague pit that it is. ANY university is better.
Average, loads of cool cafes etc and facilities for learning are pretty modern and up to date, union is pretty poor and quite a lot of the time!
Internet is a struggle to log onto but once its set up its worthwhile and very fast, also has many great facilities however slight disadvantage is having the pool and gym/sports halls in seperate buildings.
Great campus atmosphere. Gardens throughout the campus act as social spaces in every break. Aditional services provided help the student life big time. Support and varied events throughout campus make for a great student experience.
Studied at a couple of Glaswegian universities, Strathclyde was far and away superior to the other. Some wonderful lecturers in law. Great ethos. An active avoidance of elitism.
Great university! Amazing modern facilities
Overall enjoy time so far at Strathclyde, glad I chose this Uni.
Strathclyde is home for me and I cant imagine being anywhere else.
I love it here, especially with it being so close to the heart of Glasgow it's such a great place and I'm so glad I chose to come here
The in campus internet connectivity is poor. The university needs to replace the existing system of wifi so as to provide a better environment
Strathclyde is absolutely great. As a student studying Biochemistry I am often in the SIPBS faculty, where the buildings outside and out are state-of-the-art. More importantly the academic staff at the University are highly qualified and the overall feeling they create is positive. I recpmmend Strathclyde, for their world class facilities and the atmosphere of optimism and positivity. Very supportive as well.
When visiting open days Strathclyde instantly appealed to me compared to other universities. They gave me plenty of information about my corse and what the years of study would consist of. My first year at university was great! My course was easy to follow thanks to the lecturers and facilities offered to me and my social experience was amazing as there was always something well advertised to do such as clubs and socialites
A brilliant University with amazing professors and lecturers. The science department is brilliant and the laboratories are top of the range. I am just moving into third year and I am so glad I picked this university, the best in Scotland to me. Great access to facilities such as the gym, swimming pool and a great library. The union isba great place to socialise with friends and has a great atmosphere and activities. A brilliant University.
At Strathclyde Uni, you are a true part of the vibrant and busy city centre of Glasgow, it is also excellently placed right in the beating heart of Glasgows nightlife and lifestyle facilities so there are no shortage of things to do in your free time. The student services are also amazing at Strathclyde and they will give you very good advice or step in with help where ever it may be needed.
Strathclyde university was an amazing experience for me, from friends, to courses and experiences within them
Pretty unorganised, its July and I still don't know if I am able to get into 3rd year for Psychology. They have over prescribed the course and therefore not everyone can get through.
A great school of learning, full of opportunity!
Engineering department is extremely slow when returning grades for various assignments and class tests.
Great University, good facilities! Wide range of extra curricular activities also!
Great uni with an amazing campus. Need to get marks back quicker though! That's annoying. The societies are very well organised!
First year was great, achieved everything I set out to achieve!
At uni I have found the answers to life I have been looking for and learnt to learn more.
The university of Strathclyde as a community are great. They have everything you need to set you up for a prosperous career in your chosen field, and the means for you to enjoy yourself in the process.
In my opinion Strathclyde university is one of the best universities, they are always doing everything to make sure their students end up the best they can be.
Amazing multicultural university, challenging you to yourlimits and beyond!
I am starting my final year this year and Strathclyde has been a wonderful environment to learn and socialise in.
Staff have always been extremely attentive and helpful. Fellow students are friendly and down to earth. Library resources are fantastic. Wide range of courses.
Good University in a great city.
University has everything you will ever need during your time of study. With a great reputation and lots of support, Strathclyde is one of the most highly sought after university graduates.
im a part of the SIPBS institute within the university, the facilities and teaching staff are top notch.
strathclyde has exceptional facilities and student union.
Lovely city lovely people. The students are what make Strathclyde. Lecturers have been poor, half my classes end up being self taught. Some of them dont even want to be there. Really disappointed, very much a "you can get it online" attitude. Facilities are good.
brilliant uni and great facilities
I have loved my time at Strathclyde. The lectures are well organised and the university offers great clubs and societies. I feel supported financially I'm my uni. The library is brilliant too
Great uni. Great location. Great experience
The university is very well-established and well-kept. Library and Union alongside the teaching staff are probably the main factors in rating the facilities 5 star. I would say, however, the administration department can be very slow at times and many career opportunities are not adequately reported to students e.g. the email every night is not exactly proficient - a weekly update on jobs in relation to a student's course would be much more beneficial.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Strathclyde, traditional-meets-modern teaching methods suit me perfectly.
Great atmosphere and people. Really good learning environment. Fantastic teaching staff.
Good uni, good teachers and great social life.
The best University in the world!
Fantastic uni, love every minute there
Fantastic University with great people and opportunities
Such a great university, could not fault it anywhere. All the staff are so helpful and there are no limit to the vast array of societies to appeal to everyone!
Great university with great buildings and people
Enough clubs and societies for people of different interest. Good facilities. Wifi occasionally doesn't work and the union could be better.
Incredible university in the heart of an incredible city. Facilities and opportunities are of the best in the country. Campus is ever expanding and the innovative research the teaching staff are carrying out is amoung the top in the world.
Great teaching standards, plenty of PC labs, an excellent library which opens 24/7 at exam time, lots of varied study spaces (group study with huge PC screens, silent study areas, sound proof booths...), lots of fun events at the Union, down-to-earth students, and really centrally located - next to George Square!
Amazing location and teaching with great links to industry setting you up for a job even before you finish your degree
The best University, very helpful staff providing support in every single area! A lot of opportunities and effective learning.
Great courses on offer with excellent teaching staff, perfect location with brilliant facilities and great career opportunities which students are made aware of from the beginning.
As a second year student at Strathy I would recommend anyone looking to study at the uni to do so! It's right in the city centre with some of the best clubs and bars which are generally cheap to go to. The sports clubs are fantastic, and particularly welcoming to new members. Being part of the ultimate frisbee team has allowed for me to make loads of friends, and really feel part of the uni getting involved in competitions and the sports ball! The computing department and legal department at strathclyde are fantastic, studying a joint degree I was worried about how I would manage between the two departments but as part of the computing department in particular they try and support each pupil as much as possible, and you start to know your lecturers pretty well. It's a great uni full of great people and I wouldn't have wanted to study anywhere else!
