All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

1. There are very caring and enthusiastic staff, and the speed of dealing with problems is very fast, such as repairing broken furniture in the room. At the same time, if you have any questions, you will get a very timely reply after sending the email. 2. The room has a lot of space and the layout is also reasonable. Public areas such as corridors are also very clean 3. At the same time, the apartment often holds some activities to enrich students' social life 4. The apartment is very close to the train station and subway station, which is very convenient for students who travel frequently.

Thank you so much for your 5* review - we're so happy that you're enjoying the location, accommodation team and your time living with us :)
This is a great location in the city centre and close to the University of Strathclyde. Its proximity to George Square is proof that it is in the city centre area and there are enough supermarkets and lifestyle resources in its vicinity for users to choose from.
A brilliant review - thank you so much! We're delighted you're finding the location great too :)
The accomodation in terms of accesibility is decent. Staff are always friendly and nice. They always make sure you’re comfortable and taken care of (reception and maintenance in George St). However, considering the fact that only students are living here, it would be reasonable if the prices were not as high and annually increasing as it currently is. A lot of students have to pay for themselves and cant afford to get a second job due to class schedules, etc. so i think thats something to consider.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave an excellent rating. We really appreciate it! Thank you for your further feedback too.
I enjoyed my time here. Its location is impeccable, close to the train and metro stations. The staff here are friendly, especially Conwei who can always solve my problems in a very short time. The only suggestion is that repairs could be made faster.
Great accomodation that suits needs of those wanting to live alone. Expensive, but rent does include some good amenities. Staff generally always available to help.

Thank you for reviewing our George Street Apartments building, we appreciate your kind words!
Great place to live with friendly staff who can help with any issues you have
Thank you for reviewing our building, we appreciate your kind words!
nice staff here they are warm hearted and the location is very good where is closed to Strathclyde university. There are many supermarkets such as Aldi and Morrisonas! Thanks
It is quite noisy as it is in the middle of Glasgow central but this also means that everything you need is 5-10 min away from you. Right next to Strathclyde uni. Yippon is amazing, there are lots of asian food markets right next to you and a sainsbury on the corner. The washing machines do sometimes break down but the gym is great and the social space is perfect. The kitchens are amazing and the whole bed and desk situation is super useful and comfy. The only problem is the bathroom, the floor is very difficult to clean due to the pattern on it. However with the high ceiling and great location and all bills included it is a nice oasis for the more outgoing student.
I have lived in this apartment for 1 year and I have not been satisfied with my experience to say the least. Firstly, when my contract expired I was told I would have to move out to a new room, by a specific date and than I was told 1 day before that I would have to move out the next day. Secondly, the laundry machines have been continually breaking down and this has been a recurring issue for about a year. Lastly, the elevator has been out of order for 2 weeks now. With all of these issues combined no refunds were provided, and no adjustments to the contract were provided
