I am currently in my third year of staying at this accommodation; I have been in an ensuite, studio and townhouse. The location is great, everything is within walking distance, Solent University is less than 10 minutes walk away and there are plenty of buses around. There's WiFi, which is a requirement for students, as well as designated areas for studying within the building. There is also a gym open to all. Additionally there is a spacious social space directly below a cinema room, allowing plenty of events to take place and many opportunities to meet new people. When any issues occur, maintance is quick to solve the problem and are extremely friendly.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I enjoy living in Canvas house. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Any situation that may arise is attended to efficiently and professionally.. I receive emails telling me about social events, maintenance to the building, when parcels arrive and so much more that is relevant to living a student life at Canvas. I feel safe. The building is warm and security is good. I would gladly recommend Canvas House Southampton to anyone.
Brilliant place and brilliant staff. I feel like home at this place.

Nice, modern rooms. Friendly staff. Good location in city centre, close to Solent University.
Very nice,I like here,There is a lot of activity here, the front desk is very welcoming, and it is very safe at night. I would choose this place again.
everything is ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok
The city centre location is so handy for getting to and from campus, the staff are all amazing and lovely (can always go to them if I need a hand with something). The building is always super clean and tidy which helps when running their amazing events for all us residents, giving us a break with studying. 10/10 would recommend.
Very close to city centre, all major grocery stores are a walk away. Under a new and better management.
I had a good experience in capital house. The staff are helpful.
I am happy with my accommodation. It’s clean and tidy , good facilities and the staff are very friendly and willing to help . Its a pleasure living here.
This accommodation has all the right things I needed to start my undergraduate degree in Southampton. The location is great as I have access to everything since it is near the city centre. The university is also easily accessible by one bus. WiFi is one of the most important things to a student and that is also well taken care of. And the best thing is that it is one of the most affordable accommodations there are in Southampton
Great location, modern facilities, and friendly staff—perfect for student life
I think it is very good I enjoy myself there
I want to emphasise how good the services provided are. Exactly as expected and what I pay for. Especially this year it feels much more like I’m getting my money’s worth. Would recommend 10/10!
I was worried when I came to UK and what kind of accommodation I will get in. Later when I visited canvas capital house, I decided this is the place I want to live in. It’s closer to my university and city center which is great. Compared to all other accommodations, this is the best. Clean, nice social spaces, and many events that are happening for students. Also I live in townhouse, I have found some great people and now it feels like home away from home.
Everything was quite exceptional from the time I made enquiry about the property till the time I moved in. Everyone from the front desk are always welcoming and quite helpful with all the maintenance queries also they keep track of the speedy maintenance.
Its been really good experience
perfect place to stay for students
not bad but could better mate okay
Lovely place , Very cozy rooms and at very convenient location and very value for money
They provide dirty and damaged facilities. If you request to fix something then they tell you to fix it yourself. At the end of the term, they will charge you to pay for fixes and cleaning that you are not responsible for.
Most appalling staff management I have ever come across. Letting students into your room, they do not care about your mental welfare. I had a lot of belongings stolen by other members of the household and the response was. There's nothing they can do. The lost miserable living experience. The only thing that is nice is the modern room. That's it. No social events planned other than come and get some sweets and free pizza before it's gone. No care or compassion. I wouldn't waste your money.
The accommodation attracts by its look as it is all new and the rooms are quite nice as well as social spaces, however, the staff is extremely unhelpful and it sometimes feels even little unsafe as the security just minds their own business most of the time. No social activities, we had one only on Christmas. Wouldnt recommend to a friend.
Is a good location and has good sized rooms and social areas
Lonely modern building. Loads of social spaces and study spaces, feels really homely. WiFi is not the best, drops out frequently
Capital house is exactly what I look for in student accommodation. It's close enough to my university and the high street. It is also nicely kept by competent cleaners and the administrators and security are all switched on and polite. My only real Complaint is the combination microwave oven that we get as It's panel is a bit hard to use. Thankfully though there is a an excellently equipped room with a good kitchen and dining facilities that can be booked out for get togethers and the like.
Great accommodation and very close to city centre. Staff were great too!!!
I’ve really enjoyed my time here. The location is very convenient and the services and space provided were very good.
Good quality for money overall. The double beds are really nice and the ensuite showers are strong. Cleaning service is not included which feels like it should be for the amount you pay, but there are services available (if willing). Due to Covid, the use of social spaces wasn’t allowed but they seem good. The gym has quite basic equipment, useful if you want a little workout. Great location to the town centre and Solent University. Overall, I was happy with my choice to live here but would only recommend once restrictions are over as there is a lot you pay for that couldn’t be used.
Capital Gate is a great property! The location is great as a nursing student and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are really nice and modern too.
Lovely reception staff very friendly and helpful
Amazing everything is really well
The building is really well kept, only a short walk from the city centre and all staff have been really lovely and accommodating.
Great place to live and reception staff are really helpful! :)
I live in a premium studio and my friend lives in the en-suite room. Both our rooms are spacious and there is under bed storage and the floors are wooden. I found carpet rooms a lot harder to keep clean! The shower cubical is a decent size and the shower pressure is amazing. Compared to other student accommodation I have seen, they utilise the space in the bathroom well, so I can keep my skincare and makeup on the shelf which is useful. The social area is fun with table tennis and a Poole table. The study area is comfortable, good lighting and large. It is great to have a great study area as you can take small breaks and get snacks easily from your room. When you are in the library, you are unable to do this. The staff from the security, receptionist and cleaners are all friendly and kind. Collecting parcels are easy and stored safely. A big bonus is the location! There is a park close by and I would recommend Cafe Thrive as a place to eat if you live here.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time staying here, very friendly staff, easily approachable. Good value for money, would recommend capital house to stay as a student.
This is my first year staying at capital and the receptionist are amazing. They’ve made my stay feel welcome. And I’m so excited to stay here again next year.
lovely place to live, feel very safe living here, reception team are wonderful
Such lovely staff at reception that care for the individual people in the accommodation, communal areas are always spotless and is a safe environment to be living in!
Absolutely love my room and it's easy to go to the shops as they are really close!
Wouldn’t recommend, your promised a lot of things in terms of a cinema room which has been broken the whole year study room which has been closed the whole year but your still paying for these facilities. staff don’t care and security are rude and aggressive. For the amount your paying it’s not worth it better off staying at Vita Student Accommodation better value for money and can use ALL the facilities that You pay for!
Very poor management and staff do not respect with international students. It was hard to contact with staff through e-mail because they do not reply the thing that I would like to ask. And they normally do not take any response to help me.
This place does not know how to run a STUDENT accommodation. No1, the only good thing about the accommodation is how nice the rooms are and I can’t stress this enough, that is it. The management here isn’t great at all, they work against you rather than with you. They also came up with a £500 payment that was supposed to be paid, without any knowledge of it until 4 days before moving in, and stated they wouldn’t give me the keys until I had paid this. Even though I paid the deposit 6 months earlier and could’ve paid this £500 then when I had the money. They also advertised this accommodations stating “no hidden fees” so if your planning to move here make sure you have money for these unannounced payments. Payments for accommodation fall in line 2-3 weeks before you get your student loans so they can give out fines for late repayments to maximise profit (as most of the rooms are not occupied).
