Canterbury Hall Biography
Canterbury Hall is luxury accommodation within easy reach of the University of Central Lancashire, making it the ideal choice for students studying in Preston. UCLan Students Union is also within easy reach and is a great place to make new friends. On your off days, you can head to Fishergate Shopping Centre or if you are looking to travel a bit further, you can make use of local transport links located nearby.
The accommodation is fitted with modern finishes and social spaces, such as a reception and atrium area, entertainment room, living room, kitchen and dining area, rooftop terrace and garden courtyard. There is also a pool table and large screen TV, a private study room and a fully equipped resident’s gym. To make your stay as comfortable as possible, there is cycle storage, a concierge desk, high-speed broadband, all-inclusive bills, an on-call maintenance team, CCTV cameras and a secure fob entry system.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Very good accommodation and would recommend for students to stay at. Very convenient for both UCLAN students and for medical students who have to go to hospital with very good bus connections. Inventory went unnoticed, have to raise issues separately kitchenette is good but the induction hob is picky hot water is great wifi takes a while to kick in, especially noticeable on tv wifi has limited total devices and is managed 3rd party smart tv isn’t fast but is great to have internet speeds are great staff are excellent personally, carpet is difficult to maintain without a vacuum heating system is poor, always feeling cold even on max settings, can’t set a specific temperature laundry room is small and uses the original circuit app intriguing social events and freebies around

If there are any issues during your stay, we ask that you raise these issues on your Portal so our Maintenance Operative can respond as quickly as possible. If you experiencing difficulties with the WI-FI, specifically the connection with your TV, we are more than happy to help assist in resolving the issue. Here at Canterbury Hall, we do have communal hoovers that can be signed out of reception during office hours for you to use. In relation to the heating of your room, we are more than happy to come and take a look for you and again resolve this urgently for you. We are grateful for your kind words about our staff, we are here to make your experience a very good one and we are always happy to help!

I’ve only been here a month but Canterbury Halls is absolutely one of the best accommodations with a pretty good value for money. The staff are really polite and helpful and the room has a pretty comfortable design, one thing that could be improved tho is potentially the freezer space. Other than that tho, it’s a great accommodation, the best accommodation hall in Preston I’d say.

Amazing accommodation. My last accommodation was awful and this was just the accommodation I was looking for. All the problems I had in my previous accommodation were non existent here so I love it. Very affordable too and many different things to do: pool table, games, roof terrace, gym etc.

The gym could be better but we have a pure gym next door. Tesco express is great for quick needs but aldi is quite far. All n all a lovely place to stay with lovely staff. Shout out to the house keeping and maintainance team for keeping the place so nice and clean. Social spaces need to be better looked after by students though.

I’ve lived in this place for two years and have friends who lived here for 5 years. This is a good accommodation. It’s a little further out from town but otherwise location is good. Sometimes the other residents don’t take good care of the space as a result.

Canterbury halls is one of the finest student accommodation in Preston and is in walking distance from the University of central Lancashire. Staff here is very supportive and kind. The rooms are the best especially the studios with all the amenities ranging from study desk to a very nice kitchen .

Canterbury Hall has great value for money the rooms here are significantly bigger than other accommodations and you also have a lot of storage space in the kitchen which is extremely handy. The building is always kept in a neat and tidy condition and there’s always someone at reception to help you out with anything you need the only issue id bring is up is the gym there’s a lot of room for improvement there.

I have stayed here for 6 months now and will continue to stay here for the next academic year. The staff is very friendly, the living space is big, the bed is big and the mattress is very comfortable. The downside is that it's a bit far from the city center, it takes about half an hour to walk to the train station, and the gym is quite small.

Its good value for money. The studio is a good size and the social spaces are always clean and available. The only issue is there is no on-site parking, but city centre and UCLAN uni is walking distance with bus stops close by for further travel, such as to the hospital.

The accommodation is really modern and is always kept clean. Staff are super friendly and will always stop to have a chat with you when they're free. The Canterbury Halls has everything what a student needs. Included facilities are awesome and the room is modern with lots of storage space and the bathroom is clean and well sized. The staff at the accommodation are reliable and very helpful! I have a physical difficulty but they gave an amazing support and solution for me which is made this place like HOME. Truly recommend this as your accommodation for studies at university!

This is my second time living at Canterbury Halls and I could not be happier that I chose this accommodation! The atmosphere at Canterbury Halls is incredible. The team always go above & beyond to ensure that I do not have any problems. If you are facing any issues, problems are dealt as quick as possible. So far, everything has been maintained really well and the staff are really friendly. It takes about 10 minutes for me to walk to the centre of the university campus from the accommodation so it’s located somewhat nearby. Typically it is always clean and smells nice in the social spaces.

Having lived here for a year already moving into my second, Canterbury has always looked out for both me and my boyfriend. They've been incredibly accommodating to us, especially as I have a disability, and the staff are always lovely. There's events on every week and there very engaging with their students and even free stuff from time to time. I'm happy to be staying here another year.

Move in day was really smooth The staff that work the building are really friendly and helpful!! They are so nice to chat to. The maintenance people are so quick to sort things and have no qualms replacing things if they cannot be fixed to a higher standard!

So far Canterbury Hall has been great for my final year. It gives me private space as well as the opportunity to spend time with friends in a clean and inviting environment. It is the best student accommodation I have been in.

Canterbury Hall has been an amazing experience I’ve been in my final year of university and it’s been like living at home comforting and warm welcoming with a lot of privacy and security, very affordable for what is provided and has access to Moor Park which is perfect for picnics and walks as well as the city being around the corner.

Moved here for my second year of university and it’s a great space for students, they have events every now and then which are really nice for example you can get a free breakfast every Friday morning. There’s a free gym & cinema room which are amazing and the staff are really friendly. The room itself is very spacious and good quality. Would recommend 👍🏼

Great accommodation but far from the train station
Thank you for leaving us a review! Did you know you can get to the train station in 6 minutes on the bus? There's a bus stop just a short walk from Canterbury Hall. Hope that's helpful!
Decided I wanted to move into a studio for my final year of university to maximise my ability to be productive and get the best outcome possible. I originally planned to stay in my previous accommodation, but decided to look around at my options anyway. Canterbury Halls came in a lot cheaper than my previous accommodation, even with a longer contract allowing me to remain here over summer. It is well managed and the upkeep is amazing. There are events and opportunities offered all the time in the building which has been great for building friendships and meeting new people. I only wish I had found out about the place sooner because I most definitely would have chosen to live her throughout the entirety of my time at university.

The accommodation is great, a lot better than the accommodation I was staying at for my first year and the price isn’t bad for the size of room and privacy you get. The only thing I have to complain about the accommodation is having to share the lounge room even when you have it booked because there are ovens there, so if you wanna have a private hangout/party with friends you can’t because someone you don’t know might walk in to use the kitchen.

Best accommodation in Preston!! It is a five minute walk from my lecture halls and the library. Also not too far from town. The rooms are very nice and modern, and you have your privacy which is lovely. I would 100% recommend this accommodation to any students looking.

Overall Canterbury hall is a brilliant place to live. The staff are always friendly and willing to help out and they also have job opportunities for students to work shifts with anyone who has issues after hours. The building feels safe and is close to university campus and the town centre for all amenities. It is also a walk away from a local park which is perfect for a picnic study with friends during summer! The rooms are spacious and have plenty of storage including under the bed storage. There are plentiful opportunities to make friends aswell as there are various social events. The portal is also very easy to use so you can keep track on how much rent you have left, when a new parcel arrives and reporting a problem to staff.

One of the best accommodation in Preston. The staff is very friendly especially The manager - Ross, he trys his level best to solve any problem for any resident at any point of time. The rooms are very well maintained and quick response to any maintenance problem in the room. overall, it is very friendly, modern and a positive atmosphere to stay as a student.

Canterbury staff are so helpful and kind. Just recently they had a therapy dog event where some of the staff brought their dogs as well. It was great fun and an enjoyable event. Great accommodation.
