Orbital places students in the heart of all the action in Canning Circus as the residence is a short walk or bus ride from both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. The surrounding area is filled with local amenities and attractions that include supermarkets, shopping centres, bars, nightlife hotspots, restaurants, sports venues, galleries, museums and theatres.
To ensure your stay is as convenient as possible, the property is equipped with post-collection, WiFi, bike storage and onsite maintenance. What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I really like it here, the environment is very good, especially the staff here is really friendly, I am very impressed.
I've been living here for 3 years says something in itself. I got a classic studio, very comfortable, spacious for me, the study area is big, the kitchen area is actually perfect, can't fault it, everything is all clean and tidy, and nice view from my window too. The staff are extremely helpful, they'll sort out anything you might need asap, the stores are very close by and my walk to NTU is less than 10 mins which is perfect. We always get freebies and there's always something going on when there's a national holiday, which is very cute of the staff to put on.
Amazing accommodation. Placed in a good spot so you have city center very close. Also very happy with the property team, always friendly and happy to help. John who is a maintenance worker at the property, always friendly and when he is fixing something, does a very good job. Asked him to help a couple of times over little things, and was always friendly and hard working. Absolutely enjoy living here!
The rooms are nice and spacious, while the views from your room on the upper floors are amazing too! The management are great! Very friendly and always able to help where possible! Totally enjoyed it

Orbital is located near many bus stops to get you around notts and it’s a short walk to NTU city campus, however as a lot of cars pass through Canning circus the road can be a bit noisy. The property team are all friendly - most flats are studios, so you will find that people aren’t as sociable with each other compared to other halls. Rooms are relatively spacious and in every flat there is a washer/dryer and every room has a big TV, giving you good value for money.

Loved staying at orbital this year, always really clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful and you get free washing and drying and it’s literally right next to Tesco. It wasn’t as social as other halls but i still met quite a few people living there. 100% would recommend.

Great location - 10 mins UON by bus; 10 mins NTU by walk. Staff are extremely friendly - Natt and Scott the property manager are the best. Modern rooms with ultra fast WiFi, washing machine and fridge. Have been at the accommodation since grand opening 2018-2021 currently.

I like living at Orbital because it has really nice looking rooms which also have washing machines in them. Staff are friendly and help us with any problems and give us treats on certain days of the year. There is a common area downstairs with sofas and tv but I just like relaxing in my room!
