Q&A
Hi, the beds in Gill Street North are single beds 3' x 6'3" therefore single fitted sheets will be fine.
Hi there shower curtains are usually provided, however if you are wishing to bring your own, we suggest obtaining one which is 1.80 x 230. The single beds are standard; however, some people prefer to have a double quilt to ensure they have amply coverage during the night. We hope this provides you with ample information.
Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm D block was renovated last year.

That's great to hear! We're happy to hear you made the right choice with accommodation.
A very mixed bag. The location is close to the City campus - and therefore close to the trams, buses, the city centre, student union, etc. - and there's a good sense of community thanks to the courtyard in the middle of the complex. Internet speeds are more than plenty for the vast majority of people (500/400Mbps down/up w/Ethernet), and the rooms are quite cosy once you get set up. Reception staff are friendly and always willing to help - one staff member helped a friend of mine get to A&E. The rent is ludicrous for what you get. A shower curtain means you'll regularly be fighting against it in the shower whilst you half flood the bathroom floor, I've seen silverfish a handful of times in my bathroom and heard reports of them being in other blocks to worse extents, and I currently have a leaky pipe in my roof. The kitchens and cupboards are perpetually warm, which is concerning in a place where food is stored. It's nice here, the rent just needs to come down a bit.
Thank you for the review! We take all feedback onboard to improve our services. Should you experience any issues, please do not hesitate to report them via the Homes at Hall App or to reception, who will be more than happy to help.
It's really good accommodation, the cleaning help comes every week and with the home at halls app any problems are solved within a day making life so much easier and it's a 5 minute walk to city centre which is amazing for places to shop and eat, it's also close to the architecture course buildings which makes it easy to get to
We're pleased to hear you've made the right choice in accommodation and enjoying your stay. Thanks for the kind words and positive review. Reviews help us to maintain and improve our services.
It's in a brilliantly placed location.
We're pleased you're enjoying your stay here. Thank you for the review; much appreciated.
I’ve had a good experience sharing a flat with six people. They are all friendly and it’s been easy to share the space together. Our kitchen is good with all the utilities you could need. My room is nice and comfortable, with big desk space, decent bed and nice bathroom & shower.
That’s great news! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to leave a review.
The cleaners are often lazy, not bothering to carry the bins past our corridor but on the whole do a good job. The location is excellent, right in the centre of campus, but would be nice to have a common room of some kind
Thank you for taking time to leave your feedback. We strive to always improve on services offered.
Fine accommodation in excellent location. As student accommodation goes it was pretty good.
Being in a flat of 8 has been so perfect, not too crowded but have been able to make great friends in my flat and the rest of the accommodation :)
Gill street north is a very social accommodation in a great location, I would recommend it!
Gill street is good in terms of being close to shops but it can get pretty loud at midnight due to parties and just people messing around
My favorite thing about my accommodation is how close it is to the campus and to the city center as well. Also, how friendly and helpful the staff is. I live in a studio and the space is larger that I thought and I have all the facilities I need. The only problem for me is that the wall are a bit thin, so I can always hear my neighbors across the wall.
It’s okay. Rooms are quite nice but the en-suite is very very tiny & the shower head is attached to the ceiling & can’t be moved or taken down which isn’t the best. The kitchen is ugly and fairly old. Which some people might be fine with, everything works fine. It’s a very very noisy accommodation so buy earplugs.
Good accom, really near city centre
Really enjoyed my time at gill street north, security and maintenance are really friendly
University halls are slightly expensive but are more involved with freshers week due to the help from fresher reps.
Not worth the money, if it was upgraded and updated then maybe
Great place, just not worth the money what so ever
Location is pretty good. However it’s pretty basic and gross, and depending on what flat you pick within the accomodation you will either get a basic kitchen with a table or a kitchen with a sofa, table and island even though you are all paying the same money. The rooms can also range depending on who stayed in it before you. For example, my carpet is covered in stains and I have holes in some walls. The hall management is pretty mediocre, if you make a noise complaint they rarely go and check it out. Equally, one time I rang and got rude response and shouted at down the phone by an old bald man, who is also rude to anyone who enters the reception area. WiFi is pretty good, bit of a pain to add devices. Pretty expensive for what you get, so you are probably more paying for the location. Save your money and get a decent flat with some mates in the second year.
Too expensive for what you get Outdated decor
Very convenient place to live as is only a 2 minute walk to the city site in Nottingham. Only problem is the issues we had with the boiler which caused us all in my flat to have freezing cold showers for about 3weeks until the staff figured out what was wrong with it :/ The response to issues gets better as the term progresses and it is a good place to stay if studying at the city site, just very expensive for what is available! This is the same for most city campus accommodation though!
Spent an awesome year here, had so much fun with the flat I have, staff are really friendly and do as much to help.
Rooms are of a decent size with ensuit. Kitchen is small for six people with little social space and several problems before we moved it in such as broken fan and grill. Not cleaned to a high standard for the money the halls costs
Great social experience, and great location. However a lack of socialising space is a shame
I moved in after Christmas and I was welcomed by all the staff who were happy to help and always wanted to know I was getting on okay; location is also ideal
Gill street have a fantastic team of staff that are always on site, they will help you with anything you need. For what you pay a week shouldn't be that price for what it is, it should be less. The kitchen areas are alright, just having hard wooden seats or plastic chairs is annoying after a while, needs to have mini sofas or something. Overall its decent, good location for the uni. just the furniture could be a little better
Great location and sociable halls, good facilities and management but could be improved with more communal areas
Great place for socialising, all the people here are very nice.
An amazing place to live for your first year at Trent, location is insanely close and even though it's private accomodation, you are fully included in everything that goes on
Although yes Gill Street is located in a great area for everything, I think we pay too much for what we are getting. Of course we each have en suit bathrooms but there is no social area, simply just the kitchen which isn't exactly comfortable. Along with the beds, I had to go to the doctors due to the pain I was experiencing sleeping in the beds and currently on back pain relief medication. Luckily, being an art student, there's weeks where I have to isolate myself in my room and my block is very quiet but I think the social area desperately needs improving for future students! Other than that, I like with very respectable people and that experience has been fine, just a few tweaks but I definitely believe we should be paying less.
The location is very good, near the uni but far enough from the crowd. Residence is very quiet and the staff is very friendly.
Compared to other halls Gill street is very expensive for the little you get i.e no sofas or TV - which a lot of my friends have for cheaper. The wifi is also rubbish. However everything else is great especially location and I would still recommend to future students.
Very good maintenance but very expensive for what it is
Way too expensive for what you get, not worth the money at all. Cleaning is good, but cleaners are too noisy - on their phone shouting in the morning. Right near city centre so a 5 minute walk from everything you need. Only social experience you get is in freshers, even then, the reps are annoying and you pretty much stay in your block, or just your floor.
basic accomodation, getting old in places could benefit from updates/deep clean. (stairway to flats in particular)
