Residents at Marybone 3 are within walking distance of the University of Liverpool, LJMU Byrom Street Campus and the library. The property is in an ideal central student location with restaurants, bars and shops just a few steps away.
You’ll be able to socialise with friends in the cinema room and common room, fitted with Sky TV and a pool table. What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Good location for LJMU, very close to the centre. Maintenance is kept on top of, however repairs are prioritised, with some repairs not done at all, seen silverfish in the flat but not in my room. Marybone 3 is good enough; it provides what you need comfortably but definitely requires maintenance and deep clean between tenancies and within the hallways outside the flat. I share my flat with 6 people, for that we have one fridge, this is very tight for space, often foregoing frozen foods due to a lack of space.

Overall happy with Marybone accommodation. Very good location for students and well valued getting all your moneys worth.
A great accomodation to stay in! Staff are lovely and always ready to help when needed, frequent giveaways of food and drink which helps stressed students feel a bit better by giving them a pick me up of snacks/ tea/energy drinks and more
I have really enjoyed living here in Marybone 3, the rooms are a good size and the kitchen is spacious, I have been blessed with the best flatmates and I have definitely made friends for life :)

I’m currently living at Marybone Accommodation in Liverpool, and it’s been an amazing experience so far! The location is absolutely perfect—everything from university buildings to shops, restaurants, and public transport is within walking distance. It’s so convenient, especially when you’re balancing studies and social life. The facilities here are excellent. The free on-site gym is a lifesaver, and the communal spaces like the games room and study areas make it easy to relax or focus, depending on what you need. My room is comfortable, with plenty of space for storage and a great desk setup for studying. One of the best parts is the friendly atmosphere. The staff are approachable and always quick to help with any concerns, and the other residents have made it feel like a real community. It’s a great environment to make friends and feel at home.

Great value for money, the location is ideal for students as it’s close to university buildings such as libraries and lecture theatres and shops.
Really really good accommodation! It's exceeded my expectations and I have even booked to live here again next year. I have met so many amazing friends and my boyfriend! It meets every criteria and it's perfect for the ultimate uni experiences

Marybone is good for money with a gym included for 118 a week location is perfect for uni as it’s not a far travel some faults with leaks and other bits

Staff are truly great and always have your best interests. They are approachable and a real good laugh . They even go beyond expectations to help you . The accommodation was comfortable and clean for the majority and convenient. Also the added social aspect that the staff politely present is also a great positive . I’ve been at Marybone 3 for 2 months now. I’ve met so many friends from different flats. I was put into a flat with other girls and we all get along really well. My flat has an amazing view as it is at the top floor. I had trouble with my shower at one point however staff were very helpful and it was fixed the next day. Jill in the office always give such a warm welcome and really makes you feel at home.

Overall decent experience, some construction and maintenance work would improve experience and building security.
Been very lucky in my flat placement my friends in other flats have horror stories. Takes a while to get anything fixed and communication in that time is none existent. The outside of the windows are black so looks like they don't regularly get window cleaners in. Staff are friendly and approachable but don't respond to emails quickly if you don't have time to visit reception during opening hours then there is no communication. The post system is really good.

Marybone 3 has been great but mainly due to my flatmates. My room is perfect however kitchen could do with some TLC which we have reported and been ignored. We had no water for 6 days as well and didn’t receive much help for that.
It’s technically ok. The staff are nice but the management is not always on point. We had a part of our ceiling fall off and it hasn’t been fixed in 3 weeks despite reports. There’s good and bad things about the experience
All the staff were lovely, great location meeting new people, clean facilities, free use of the gym/ social areas and things get fixed quickly. Flat 69 will miss everyone especially Gill!! Thank you so much for making 1st year amazing xx

Marybone 3 is good value for money within the city centre. The rooms are en-suites which is great for students nurses who work various shift patterns. The staff in Marybone are great and always really helpful and friendly. Big shoutout to Jill who is the BEST receptionist and always looking out for the students

I have loved living in Marybone during my first year of university. Marybone has made the start of my University experience extremely enjoyable due to living in safe and clean conditions in an excellent location. The location is so convenient to enter the city centre aswell as travel to the wirral.

stayed here for my first year at Liverpool john moores university and I think it was great, it is perfectly located for my classes which would only take me up to 5 minuets to walk to and the staff in Marybone were very friendly and kind. The only thing which i think could have made it better was the lift, the reason to this is that it would be down for maintenance quite frequently. Overall i rate my first year at Marybone Phase 3 a 8.7/10.

Students were forced to continue to pay rent during the pandemic despite majority of us moving back home. It is NOT a suitable accommodation for students studying health care courses as it’s exceptionally noisy because of students partying until all hours! Also my tenancy ended July 3rd , however due to the pandemic I could not come back before it ended and I agreed an alternative date with the manager. I arrived back to Liverpool July 14th and found that all of my kitchen belongings had been binned by the accommodation. They refused to reimburse me for this even though I was not contacted by sanctuary to discuss if I wanted anything to be left and the rest disposed of! Sanctuary claim that they believed I was only packing up my bedroom but that lacks complete common sense as if I had to pack my room I would surely have stuff left in the kitchen! Absolutely disgusted that I will be out a lot of money replacing everything! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
