McDonald Road offers student luxury accommodation just fifteen minutes from Edinburgh city centre. You can reach the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University and Queen Margaret University within a thirty-five-minute cycle or on those lazy days, you can make use of the fantastic transport links.
The residence has a variety of social spaces for you and your friends to enjoy. There is a cinema room, communal lounge, communal kitchen, courtyard and games room. You can skip your gym membership as there is an onsite gym and fitness studio. To ensure your stay is as convenient as possible, there is a laundry room, study room, WiFi, all-inclusive bills and contents insurance.
At McDonald Road, you have the option of staying in a self-contained modern studio or ensuite room. The ensuite rooms have a fully equipped kitchen that is shared with three, four or five flatmates, making it the ideal choice if you are looking to stay with friends. All rooms come fully furnished, so all you need to do is simply move in.

Lovely place, nice and central for most places especially with the bus and trams on your doorstep, however when I moved in the place was not clean as described, I found mold, spiders webs and walls were dirty, etc. so I had to clean before I could start to unpack. it does the job and is a safe enough place to live, just feel it is way overpriced for what you get. If you need anything done maintenance way hope your not in a rush as it could take a while. And lastly if I wanted to be in for the chance of winning free laundry for the rest of the year all I had to do was give a five star review! So think if this is the place you want to be?!
Hi, thanks for your review. We have idustrial cleaners that come in to take care of all the rooms before the new tenants move in and we have to ready over 300 rooms in the space of a week for new tenants so sometimes a spider or 2 can sneak in after the room has been checked. Our prices can be seen as reasonable when you consider the onsite study room, 24/7 cinema and gym, wifi, social events, free raffles and more which are all included in your rent. We went streight back to our reports after reading this and our maintenance operative has always finished all tasks within 24 to 48 hours unless a part needed to be ordered which we would consider a reasonable wait time that we can't influence. The free laundry competition is another one of our MANY raffels for free goodies and all our staff are doing is asking for a good review for their services and organising free goods and events. I hope this clears things up.
Great location and helpful management. I haven't had any complaints yet. The accommodation has great connectivity and all grocery stores are very accessible, just a small walk away.

All round fantastic private student hall. Very modern and clean, beautifully presented. Facilities available are fantastic, including a gym, laundry room, study room, social room with pool and darts, and cinema room. Everything you could need. Well situated near bus and trams and right by leith walk for good shops. Maintenance are prompt and helpful, the property manager John is very friendly, helpful and supportive and always makes an effort to speak to residents. Lots of competitions organised with generous rewards, free things given to residents and fun events planned regularly. Brilliant all round experience and highly recommend

Great property to stay at, with friendly and welcoming staff. Quite pricey but all student accommodations are (and also out of control of property staff). Studios are modern and spacious with good natural light due to dual windows.

Decent student accommodation for the price. The main advantage is the location. It’s between leith and the main city, excellent connectivity and all shops are nearby since many student accommodations are in this area. The management tries to have regular events as well. Not a lot of entertainment amenities but they do have a single study room and a common room but it stays mostly empty. All in all good value for money.

McDonald Road is great for many reasons. It is located close to the centre (10 minute walk to St James Quarter) and the public transport around it is super handy with the tram stop right at the door. The accommodation provides a range of amenities to ensure an enjoyable stay such as laundry facilities, a cinema room, study spaces and a social area with a pool table which is great for hosting many events. The rooms are spacious and the shared kitchens are supplied with everything you need. Student accommodation in Edinburgh is expensive but McDonald Road is good value for money considering its location, amenities, modern rooms and living spaces. I would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the city.

An amazing place to stay! So convenient for university, groceries, social spaces etc. Overall a very safe area as well. It really is value for money because of the amenities you get - I use them everyday! The management is also very nice and helpful.

The McDonald Rd accommodation is wonderful, from the friendly staff to the exceptional facilities, such as a gym and cinema room. The location is also great as it’s super close to the centre, while being located a street that does not produce noise. The rooms themselves are spacious and the kitchen provides enough space and storage for multiple people living in the flat. I adore the events hosted here too, from pumpkin carvings to socials. This is a super convenient accommodation for students that I highly recommend considering!

As an international student, my experience here has been wonderful. The accommodation is comfortable, with all the essential amenities provided, making it feel like a home away from home. This is my 2nd time living in halls, considering this was twice the price I am disappointed. I have just enough space, adequate facilities but they are small and have regular problems. The staff are friendly and helpful.l and it is well positioned to get places easily.

The staff are dedicated to providing a 5 star experience and have tried to do this in all aspects within our control such as social events and free snacks and items/raffles. We have a dedicated maintenance operative who fixes almost all reports (that don't reuire a part to be ordered) within 24 - 48 hours. While we can't prevent a spontanious issue, we can do our best to fix it. I hope this helps :)

My experience with this his accommodation has been very good. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped, especially compared to other accommodation, and offer great value for money. The location is calm yet lively, there’s plenty of high quality restaurants and grocery shops walking distance from the accommodation. Plenty of buses to travel to campus and recent addition of trams make connection to the airport and city centre convenient. Property management team are very pleasant and accommodating.

It’s a great student accommodation compared to others in Edinburgh. The location is excellent, with easy access to both buses to uni and trams to the airport. The studio I’m staying in is also very spacious, and the reception team is always friendly and welcoming

This student apartment is really good and quite comfortable to live in. First of all, the staff at the apartment are very nice and helpful, and they will help to solve any problems that arise. Secondly, the location is great, it is close to the city centre, and it is very convenient to get there by tram or on foot. There are also many delicious restaurants in the surrounding area, with a wide variety of cuisines, so you can basically find whatever you want to eat. There are also several supermarkets nearby like co-op, tesco, which are very convenient for buying daily necessities or snacks. In short, life here is very convenient, and I'm very happy to live here!

Fantastic student accommodation! The location is great, just 15 minutes walking distance from the city centre. There are many local food shops around to try different types of food. There are direct bus routes to the city centre and to all of the universities campuses. The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready to help. Finally there are many different social spaces and events that give you the opportunity to meet new people.

This property is located to many food shops as well as located in a safe location right outside several bus and tram stops that go straight to the university and airport. The facilities are clean and the gym and cinema room are a great addition!

I’m a masters student and have found this accommodation great considering it is my first time living in Edinburgh. The location is great and Kerri is always there to offer assistance when required so big s/o. A shame I won’t be living here for another year as my course is only one year.

Probably one of the worst student accommodations you could go to. Although the facilities are excellent, including a gym and private cinema room, there is almost never anybody on site. Repairs take over a month despite the online logging system. Hallways are often left dirty and unclean for over two months. Collecting parcels and deliveries is going to be almost impossible. The electric doors often leave people locked out of their rooms and the emergency phone line tends to take 3-4 hours to reach any resolution or to have someone arrive on site. Whilst the location on Leith walk is quite convenient, the tram works make bus journeys very difficult. It’s around a 40 minute walk to George Square campus otherwise….

If you want to live miles from the city on a street where people are routinely attacked and in a building where everything is falling apart then 6 McDonald Road is for you.

Do not come here, you will become unfortunate. The staffs are rude, they reply to emails very slowly, and even don't reply to emails. They also think you're annoying.

I have lived in the McDonald Road accommodation since my first year at uni. Their studio apartments are very spacious and have a great layout. The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The location is great with only a 20 minute walk to the city centre and bus stops are only a few minutes walk away. Make sure to read the descriptions on the rooms as the studio do not come with a microwave or toaster (it doesn’t say on the website that they do anyway). Overall I have had a great stay and will be coming back to live here for my final year.

6 Mcdonald road tbh this year has been overpriced at 5700 pound no kettle, toaster or microwave, ironing board available, we were provided with a kettle and toaster months after moving in. one fridge freezer for 5 people which has had its challenges. The desk in the room is far to small and not realistic to get uni work done on. despite paying 5700 pound there are only 2 washing machines in the whole complex for over 100 people and one of these has been continually breaking throughout the year. however, despite these issues the staff at this complex are lovely. The location is great 10 minute walk to waverly. A co-op right outside and a tesco and sainburys close by. I would recommend staying here for students despite the issues mentioned above.
