I love UoY, and I'm so happy I chose to come here. But whilst the city is beautiful and the campus has more ducks than you could wave a stick at, it is at its core a university with a lack of funds. The staff are very nice and there is a good community spirit, but alot of things are very basic such as campus bars and accommodation.
I'm only first year but from what I can tell so far is that the staff are extremely supportive, everuthing is well organised and the people I have met so far and my house mates are the best
Campus uni, lots of greens, nice atmosphere to work at

York Uni has a really beautiful campus around a pretty lake
Decent. Can’t really complain. Do feel like they could do a little bit more to help people get industry work
Loved studying in York. The Uni facilities are great, the faculty incredibly helpful in my experience and the WiFi is good enough to get on with. Didn’t hear much from the student union in my time there but I also never really went looking for anything about it so that could be my own fault. Amazing place to study.
My time so far at the university has been great. The campus is stunning and provides lots of areas to walk and relax. I love the nature that it provides. The facilities in my department are great and the library is a great space to revise or do group work.
Like the university. Nice area
Career service was really helpful for postgrads in finding suitanle resources and advices on CV and career path.
Please note with the above that I gave the SU and societies three stars out of fairness because I have not been involved much with them
The university of york is a fine university.
the student roost is very nuce and decklin is very nuce to talk too!!!
University is good nice grounds
a great uni with loads of society options
everything is good,I love York!
The careers department seem a bit absent.
I think it's a great place to stay, the staff is great the rooms are great too!
Good place, nice people who work here, convenient place.
Uni experience is good enjoyed the campus
The university is attentive to my course and provides good mental health support, however they are not attentive to financial problems for students.
Very pleasant amazing university
Like the uni my course is good
Like the York uni very close to where I live
Amazing University a lot of variety
Uni of York has been a good uni.
bad for mental health support although my time in lectures has been fine
Good experience! The university is very good
My Uni experience has been great.
More university parties would be great
The school environment and ecology are very good, with many cute small animals, and the students at school are also very enthusiastic
I am very happy with the flat environment and the staff is very responsible and able to solve many problems!
The city of York is beautiful. However, the University lives off the city's reputation. The university is an eye sore on the urban landscape. Its hideous grey 1960s buildings make the winters seem eerie and lonely. There is a very small range of societies of which a select sample of the university's population dominate. Despite attempts to join, I often felt like I was intruding on a well established friendship group. There is an overwhelming lack of inclusivity to introverted students. The restaurants on campus are dirty and the facilities in the buildings I used were dated and gross. Any social workshop they offered that was half decent was often oversubscribed.
The location is excellent, the front desk is responsible, the room is cost-effective, the cleanliness is satisfactory, and there is a public rest area.
Good campus in a nice, safe area. There's beautiful nature all over and lots of ducks, geese, and rabbits everywhere. Bus links are good and it's easy to travel to the city centre. Not too many students for the facilities. Many great coffee shops and canteens.
University of York Online MBA - Terrible experience, despite this not being a new course - its plagued with technical issues (wrong links supplied), material not correctly shown. The course is deeply impacted by marking boycotts - no plans to mark work. Professors and TAs provide limited to no feedback. Sometimes no more than 5 words on a lengthy 2,500 assignment. It is clearly understaffed and provides poor value for money. DONT DO YOUR MBA HERE
Great facilities and clubs. Careers service and WiFi could be much better.
In fact, studying in York University was not as happy as I had imagined. Most of the study time is self-taught. Most of the tutor's instructions are given to students in accordance with the HANDBOOK, and there is no real help.
The university itself is fine, academically you will be given plenty of support if you reach out for it. Resources are mostly available and the library is good. Architecture on campus is not the nicest and it does sometimes feel like I’m walking around a brutalist secondary school. The ducks are a nice touch though.
I'm not sure what to say about this university. I have nothing to say because I'm sure most universities are the same.
York is fine. Big green space for ducks.
The facilities are abundant and helpful in every ways. They provide both relaxing activities to relieve our stress and academic ones.
nice room and nice reception I will recommend to my friends
so niceeeeeeeeeeeee university
Like the university close to where I live
The best university, safe region, nice people
Like the university of York like the course
Excellent place for students studying and evething else, so I strongly recommend the young come here.
like the university like my course like the grounds
The postgraduate study gives me a nice experience to live and study here. The University of York is really nice and beautiful. All teachers and staffs are friendly and happy to help students. Students can learn a lot here. Welcome to the University of York.
What a beautiful university! like it here
The University of York is amazing. Great place to study but also grow and learn about yourself!
Very nice like it at york easy to get they
Amazing university with great professors and excellent campus
A nice University with a mix of modern and old buildings with plenty of space to study and learn in. Campus East is set in an amazing location with amazing views feeling like it is in the country side with all modern buildings and spaces.
Both campuses are utterly beautiful to study at. Campus East provides beautiful walks and green scenery which is perfect for keeping a calm and settled mindspace during such an intensive study day. Campus west provides multiple lakes for walks and the wildlife is incredibly friendly, there’s nothing I love more than feeding the ducks on a quiet day between lectures. The lecturers and seminar tutors are always supportive and incredibly skilled in their fields which allows me to confidently reach my potential academically.
A good university, most students are friendly, and most staff are kind. Everything we need is equipped and have good function. It’s an honor to study at here.
Great teaching, the strikes have been a bit annoying recently other than that all ok. Great atmosphere - I use the business and society building which is great, very modern and they sell Starbucks drinks in the cafe!
The best environment, perfect teaching quality, friendly staff, often organize interesting activities
I hope the classrooms will be in the same campus, so it is a little rush to change the campus half an hour
Nice location and good service
I think it’s very good, all the stuffs are responsibility
Great. I enjoy the life here.
University of York is very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The university of york is so good for me.
I love my campus and teachers and friendly classmates. There are places I can study quietly and relax casually. The professor and tutor are helpful and friendly. Always be there for us. A second chance, i would still come to york.
Studying and living at York University is very comfortable. I have also learned a lot of knowledge and made many friends. I am very happy to meet you here
Love the university campus and facilities
Some of the people pretending to work there should just be sued.
Great experience at York, good support and community feel.
The university is really beautiful and a lovely campus, however some buildings are a bit old and run down. And on campus food is very expensive.
There are lots of cute little animals, lively campus festivals and clubs. The teachers are very responsible, teaching us a wealth of knowledge and developing our skills
The internet always need to log in after a few minutes.
A city and university that I’ve really felt at home in!
The environment of the campus is comfortable. And some of the course is difficult.
The university is good and I am satisfied with it
For international students, tuition fees are expensive and rising all the time, which can be a serious problem.
Beautiful building and good academic support supervisor. Every building have library.
Absolutely amazing, met the best people in my life
Love the learning environment so much. Beautiful lakes and many ducks
It is a Great university with kind people
A decent university with lots of support and amenities.
I expected more from the university. Not enough friendly staff members. I've tried contacting through email so many professors or departments and I rarely get a response or I get a poor one.
Good place to study lots of support
Nice uni and nice people around
So glad I picked this university, I’ve loved my experience despite covid and there have been so many opportunities for me.
Wifi bad in certain areas like King’s Manor
It’s a great university, in a beautiful location. The campus is large and has great facilities for students to use, whether it’s to study or to play a sport or any other activities.
Good uni, and nice campus, although slightly run-down in places. Would benefit from improving the student union building by developing the existing facility instead of building from scratch in an impractical part of campus.
I have already done my first two years study. The staff here not only the teachers are all kind and patient.
Bad experience in studying BA Education, You won't learn anything useful
All my classes are held at King’s manor in the town centre which is ideal for me. I haven’t been on campus much so my experience is limited but the staff in the archeology department is amazing and I love studying in this beautiful building that is so central.
Although the University of York was founded only in 1963, it has come a long way since then. I highly recommend the University of York Law School, which was established in 2007, for its unique problem-based learning curriculum!
Great student clubs and kind people in the department
Good university in the russell group so it has a good reputation. Not much support outside of classes. SU does minimal work and there is not much going on on campus besides a few bars and a nisa shop
Kudos to the staff for always been useful in helping and supporting students especially within our sociology department
Nice accommodating environment
Large campus, very good natrual environment. Good support from university staff.
So far being at the university of York, I have felt extremely welcomed by the staff members, in particular by the college well-being staff. We had a welcoming talk showing us who to go to if our mental health, for example, takes a turn. There is also a security app which the university use which is designed to help students if they are ever in a situation which they need more help or aid. My accommodation room feels more like a home than a student accommodation. We have had many lectures which focus on career opportunities as well as career fairs to help encourage students to start looking at different career paths that they may be interested in that they hadn't been aware of before. The university of York has a wide range of societies and sports club. I have participated in the canoe society which has been affordable for me and has allowed me to be able to meet more students in different years and doing different courses to myself.
Very bad university do not care about your health at all physical or mental! Supervisors are also very unsympathetic. Course content is also taught very poorly and lecturers only help their favourites!!
