Don't go to this Uni I came away destroyed! ageist tutors who were unhelpful and really let the establishment down, they are getting away with wasting peoples money and not providing the service, so log your lesson content, and if they fail you? sue them under the sale of goods act!! oh I forgot,,there is NO discipline/respect in lessons kick off your shoes leave coat on arrive late and crack on with your noisy breakfast foods in class is the moto of this UNI. The most frustrating ongoing experience ever.
Had a brilliant time all round
Awesome lecturers and social life alike!
Lovely university, that offers so much. Brilliant, welcoming atmosphere with an extremely friendly student union and staff.
The campus is newly built and looks amazing, the societies are amazing as I have joined DMU snow sports society and will be going on a trip to Andorra with them
I'd rather throwaway 8 grand in the Leicester Canals, than go here
good facilities and library will come in handy for peaceful and easy study
The University is beyond unsatisfactory in regards to maintaining the welfare of their students, Their Healthcare Science Audiology course was poorly structured and managed and lecturers were spiteful and unhelpful.
Spent £8000 to do the Legal Practice Certificate part time, distance learning. Poor support and although some very good tutors, staff treating mature students with the same amused contempt as they obviously treat undergraduates. Just because you are a good lawyer does not make you are good teacher! Off colour jokes and use of profane language by tutors! One tutor was so sarcastic and cold, they were complained about they were replaced in the second year. Even one of the exam invigilators was horrible and upset students. Never felt one could ask a query without being made to feel stupid, by the bad tutors.
Great fun but not the best careers advice
Racist......... Avoid at all cost
Brilliant support from services and from lectures and tutors. Great student union. Facilities have a lot to offer and everything is utilised. Great atmosphere round the uni, both academic and social.
Poor organisation from the admission staff, a lot of unqualified and unprofessional personal. Probably good uni but needs better organisation and cooperation.
Buildings are big with enough space meny clubs to join and internet is fast
Amazing university, the Game Art Design course is brilliant and all the support I have gotten in my first months has been great.
No one knows who the student union is. have to install a program for WiFi on campus, system is complex and never works
Did the LLM Employment Law and Practice by distance learning. Paid £8000 for a bundle of handbooks to work through, many of which did not arrive in good time for the essay. Little support from lecturers because they are too busy with lectures. Failed to uphold student privacy and data protection.
i absolutely hated every second of this place. Staff dont care and professors are worse. An incredibly demoralising experience that made me loath my chosen subject
A very high and upcoming university. Very focused on ensuring your future. Not just your degree while you're there.
Love DMU! As a shy and timid first year dmu held events to help and encourage others like myself to come out of our shells! Thus I would highly recommend the uni to anyone considering going
Great university, everyone so welcoming and friendly
To the master degrees is not a good choice. I did not received the proper education or the help. The tutor left my emails without a reply and in the end he left us without a reason. No classes, no tutorials for weeks we had to work without any guidelines.
Great people and times but facilities and setting up for real world seems lacking compared to what i've seen/heard elsewhere.
Probably the worst university i have ever been too. I attended for my MSc Engineering, very few Electronics lecturers actually help you pass exams most of them don't care. Very little contact time and almost impossible to contact any staff outside of the lecture. The Mechatronics is even worse as they just send you links to information that is on the web from other universities. As i said for Engineering avoid at all costs.
Nightlife is vibrant in the city of Leicester's size. Clubs and societies are getting better each year. However there doesn't seem like you could stumble upon spontaneous and random events on campus that help create a dynamic university social world.
Really enjoy the uni, great place to work, study and socialise
Altogether quite nice. Round for improvement though
A great campus uni right near the heart of leicester city centre, which is vibrant and full of culture, with different events and things happening everyday. The lecturers that I have seen are really helpful and really know what they are talking about and have been very welcoming and helped us to relax into our first year of the course.
Really enjoy being at this university! It's good even though people bash it because it's not red brick, but its a very good campus.
Absolutely brilliant. Amazing atmosphere and a decent su. My course is fab and the teachers are all very friendly. Lots of opportunities
Campus wide wifi, never had a problem once I got it all set up. Career opportunities are great, really high employment rate at the end of courses, jobs fairs throughout the year, motivational speakers that come in, volunteer opportunities to enhance the CV and give back to the community, lots of part time jobs available as well as a dedicated temping agency (though I didn't find that very useful). Students union seems alright, not hugely visible but I suppose they'd be there if needed. Loads of clubs and societies, went to the stalls at the beginning of the year and there are so many to pick and choose from, some are very serious and competitive others are a bit of fun, so there's something for every-one.
Amazing uni, with fab facilities and a great social life, especially the sports and societies!
Loving every minute of this University
Great uni there is alot of help and guidance available.
Excellent teaching facilities and staff. Loads of societies, some really interesting ones i.e. the skydiving society. Generally a really happy feel & atmosphere, great place to be!
Great academically lacking on the social side
SU could have better events and more variety in societies not just course based or culturally based
Really good uni all round tbh!
The course I am doing is fairly unorganised but I canny fault the university itself, nice and pleasant place to learn
Only a first year and my experience of DMU so far has been great
Still at uni, but i like the place, its a fun, bright uni with lots of brilliant people and plenty of facilities.
So far, so good in my second year.
The placements and frontrunner internships make the student experience at De Montfort successful in terms of career building - there are so many societies that are also great at getting you prepared for industry, such as the Demon Media helping potential journalists. The campus is also lovely, and the lively city of leicester is great to explore and shop in. The bars and nightlife are great because you can choose how casual or dressed-up you want to go, and we're never short of music or other types of culture in leicester. - for instance our Diwali festival, the theatres, and all the events DMU arts students have on. Also because we have two universities it means that our city is really ready-made for students.
I've been at DeMontFort for my Foundation Art and Design course and will be returning to do a degree in game art and design, which is a testament to how good this uni is. I can't vouch for other subjects, but the staff on my course were mostly great, and the facilities I could use were impressive. The library is useful, although the printing system could use work. The campus itself is a pleasant place to be: there's a genuine sense of community and the place feels clean, modern and well kept. Overall my experience was a fantastic one, and I am looking forward to returning in september.
One of the best University Ever enjoyed every single minutes of my first year.
The students union could be a little better for during the day such as showing football matches etc.
Sports teams and societies are a massive part of DMU life, so if you want to make the most of it then join a team or a society. We have fab themed socials and loads of fun.
Awesome university, with fabulous facilities. The student welfare team are also fantastic, and the campus is always a hub for social activity. 24/7 library around exams, and the lecturers really care about their students.
Awesome uni, felt at home since day one. Very social and loads of opportunites!
Great staff, great students.. Nothing to complain about, best three years of my life
Great university lovely campus . Facillities excellent has even got a gym and swimming pool .Course im studying is excellent studying youth and communities. Lots of opperertunaties to travel with DMU global to enhance studies .
Awesome university as it has great accommodation and has good facilities.
I've just finished my first year at De Montfort and it has been a spectacular experience. There's a very big range of societies to join and it's definitely important to join atleast one so that you can get to know more people, learn something new or continue to practice an activity you already love. I signed up for Rugby, Salsa, Taekwondo and Pole Dance which keeps my week pretty busy but you have to remember that you won't have as much time to do these things when you're in full-time employment. Apart from societies, DMU has fantastic opportunities to volunteer, do internships or educate yourself further. The SquareMile has opportunities to volunteer more locally (on campus or within the city of Leicester itself) but if you're feeling more adventurous you can apply for an opportunity with DMU Global. Through DMU Global I have volunteered in India and I am currently writing this review from South Korea where I am doing summer school! The possibilities at DMU are endless.
It's an amazing university in a vibrant city with so many opportunities for students! I fell in love on my first open day and have had no regrets since.
Good but societies not enough!
The uni is great, located in a multicultural society which embraces other culture.
Fantastic facilities, courses and many easily accessible experience building opportunities through frontrunners and #DMUglobal, my one complaint is the wi fi is a bit hard to connect to on the phone.
DMU has helped me become much more confident and aided me in many ways. I would not have finished first year with a 2:1, very nearly a first if it wasn't for all the incredible help and lecturing from the staff.
It has outstanding facilities and the teachers provide a solid grounding to the teaching in every module and uses different teaching methods to engage wiv the students
Great Uni, so glad i chose to study there
Good city life university, diverse in many ways and provides you with everything you could need and more :)
DMU houses a fantastic range of facilities and offers a wide range of societies so every student can have an enjoyable experience in a relaxed learning environment
Very friendly university with a wide range of subjects that bring a strange collection of people together. Close campus with a large amount of accomidation very near by helps to make it seem like its own small town. Only issues is the boring nature of Leicester city itself.
Brilliant uni we're I've learnt a hell of a lot about my course and about myself! I made memories that will last a lifetime at this university!
Set in a busy city with lots to do as well as a great night life. Teachers are amazing and the campus is ultra modern and beautiful.
I have met amazing people and really learnt a lot in my subject, its been amazing.
Moving to dmu was the best thing I did the faculty are amazing our VC is top notch and our societies are out of this world! We are just gonna keep on climbing!
DMU is a fairly big campus, but not huge! It has a great atmosphere and really friendly staff. An incredible large amount of career opportunities and plenty of sports and societies to keep you entertained in your spare time. Top university for me!
mental first year, lots achieved, bring on the second!
Buildings are fantastic and modern - notably Kimberlin Library and Hugh Aston buildings. Could do with more scientific rooms and equipment, but what is there is good quality. Fantastic Career Opportunities with the Frontrunners placement scheme. Plenty of affordable clubs and pubs near campus and wifi is available in all buildings. The students union has a lot of popular events on but it's not really my scene personally.
De Montfort has helped my grow so much as a person and academically and I wouldn't change anything about my 3 years! If it wasn't for DMU I wouldn't know I was dyslexic
Brilliant university. So glad i choose to come here
I've loved every second of my first year at DMU! Met some amazing people and cannot wait for September, to start the next term!
Although I didn't find my course as suited to me as I first thought, that wasn't any downfall to the university. They array of help on offer, the facilities and the campus is second to non.
Amazing atmosphere, amazing education. Really in depth tutoring with the right amount of independence.
It is a brilliant uni with great help from the lecturers. So much information available to helo you study and prepare for the exams.
A great friendly place to study, no matter what the degree, able to connect with everyone
DMU has given me 2 great years, and am looking forward to my 3rd year. It really does have a great atmosphere and feel about it.
A great university, with even greater people!
I'm going into my final year and being in a society as great as Acapella has really brought me out of my shell
Tutors in the Accounting and Finance department are brilliant. Always willing to help and always available. The student union is very disappointing as it is quite expensive and i wouldn't say it was 'for the students'. There are a huge range of societies and if there isn't one that suits you then you can go about setting up your own. Overall, the university as a whole is very good and is growing each year.
Very multicultural, with huge amounts of opportunities for those who are willing to put in the effort. Facilities are always improving
A good all round university. Great place to study
De Montfort Uni has so much to offer that just isn't offered at other universities. I am having the best time here
Great campus, Good range of societies and activities, Good gym
Love this uni. It feels like home. There are exciting new projects the university is creating. These are amazing opportunities and unique to this uni. Recommend to everyone!
Dmu is a amazing place to study whether it is Fashion,Law, Business, Graphics I.T and etc Dmu is best place to be. Not far from shops , Leica Market or Highcrossand even not far from night clubs and cocktail bars too. The socials are amazing.come to the open day this week.
Great place, lovely atmosphere, always feel at home when I'm on campus
Best thing I ever did coming to this uni. The start of my forever life
I've had a good experience here but didn't think the teaching set up was great
There is no way I can fault the uni, apart from my course having one rubbish lecture who doesn't care for his students, other than that there is nothing they won't help you with, and the general atmosphere wherever you go on campus is always a good one.
wish the SU was more popular as it's pretty dead each week but the campus is brilliant with great facilities
An amazing organisation and I couldn't rate or recommend them highly enough !
great course, great lectures, great lecturers, great university and great societies.
Love my course but not a massive fan of the social life in Leicester
love DMU. They are always enabling us to do well
Interesting diversity of content taught, but poor organisation and not an inclusive university experience.
Overall very good always rooms for improvements thou
My experience so far has been wonderful but that would be down to my flatmates. DMU itself has been a let down. They aren't organised and have messed up some of my coursework. I have had issues with tutors and have complained but I am yet waiting on results. I don't feel like I have had any support from DMU at all.
love this university, it's great for creative courses
