This review is a bit unique since COVID has substantially lowered my ability to interact with the university, the campus, it's clubs and activities. The campus is large and it's not very easy to find where your course building is situated until the university tells you, I haven't joined any clubs or societies so I can't speak on them. Same could be said for the Students Union and Careers Service. The only thing I did was purchase university clothes. The t-shirts are good quality, but the print is slowly being removed with each was, but the hoodies are nice. The university Wi-Fi is excellent, but that should be par for the course with any university.
I started university in 2018, and I have had so much help and I had enjoyed so much at university. It helped me grow into a better person, and I love my course.
Dmu provided so much support throughout my time
Good school overall. You get the help you need.
Great uni, unfortunately unable to experience in 2nd year due to COVID but first year was good
Great university that is socially inclusive and there are many fantastic activities to do.
Loved the campus. Of course, covid dampened the spirit. But DMU communications were great and kept getting updates regularly. Nice experience overall.
the campus is really nice and so far the course and the professors are great.
Really good university, lovely staff,
I think corona has affected certain facilities
Havent had much inperson interaction with the university due to covid so i cant say, but from what i have seen the facilities are really good
The universities gorgeous campus and updated and well maintained facilities are one of the main aspects that drew me to DMU and ot hasn't failed to impress. Although unfortunately onyl assigned to onr building away from the main campus (bede island) this space still give us access to wonderful, industry standard quipment, usually quiet spaces and security and safety of being out of public way. The outdoor portion of campus and the cafe/food court are lovely spaces to hang out and eat and feel safe and well looked after with security/staff on hand everywhere.
I think it is a great university however I wish we had a partial refund for the Covid-19 situation as online university is poor compared to real lectures and there is a huge price difference in the two experiences
Overall my experience has been good at the university, I have made loads of friends and feel that the lecturers are friendly. During Covid the level of support wasn't how I expected and could have been improved and some of my modules were Terribly taught but I cannot put the full blame on the university as they did try there hardest during a difficult time. Would definitely recommend this university to younger people
DMU has been helpful with their students this year
I feel as though I have chosen a really good uni. Met amazing people so far. Cant say much due to being a first year during covid.
Great experience with dmu and enjoyed being a student in it
Best university that could ever imagine.
It is very modern and has a lot of facilities to use that really help a lot
i haven’t been on campus much so i cannot give a honest review
Been great, lovely people, meet loads of people
Nice location and campus I love my art building
The university provides support in many areas however during coronavirus its difficult to utilise them.
Dmu has a very spacious beautiful campus and the facilities they provided before COVID was great. However since COVID happened DMU hasn’t really been great at resolving student issues with teaching and hopefully they’ll listen to student reps more as they are the voice of their cohorts
Its hard to write a review about these things when its been corona but I'm sure they're great when everything opens
My experience at this univeristy has been positive.
With the academic year being predominantly online, the few lessons I attende on campus were more than satisfactory. The facilities had all the required material to enhance my learning experience. The Student Union kept students involved in online activities and that says a lot about the effort the put into making the student experience worth it. During the year, the university held a few online career talks and meetings to help point us, the students, into the right career path. Overall, with how challenging the academic year has been, I believe the university was able to succeed in making my year a great one!
Great facilities for creative subjects. Super accessible
I haven’t really been able to make use of the university as much as i’d like to but from what I have seen it’s been okay
I enjoy going to de Montfort uni, the staff are great and helpful, they care a lot about the students abs the buildings are all nice and accessible.
DMU has a rang of societies and many facilities on campus. It is very close to the city centre and everything is walking distance.
The best university for my course
Very organised, lovely staff and facility
Helpful, understanding about your situation
DMU is a great place to make new friends. The staff members are helpful and friendly
I’ve really enjoyed my experience at DMU
Lovely place, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to study In Leicester
Had such a good time here at DMU. Lots to do and lots of societies you can join
Great University,friendly staff
As a first year student at DMU I feel that Merlin Heights is the best option considering the price and the distance from the university, it also has very good facilites such as the Sky lounge to chill out and watch films and the games room being my favourite because of the pool table. The rooms and kitchens are perfect for a first year student too as they are nice and spacious and cosy with a nice modern touch. The staff are also very helpful and polite and make sure your questions are always answered.
My first year experience at dmu has been very good despite the pandemic and not being able to go in for in person seminars for the majority of the year. Facilities such as the library are good.
DMU has many study spaces throughout the campus which have been very helpful
Good university staff are amazing
Very conveniently located which is good because all aspects of uni life are fulfilled in the area
Haven’t experienced much because of Covid, but so far the school looks to be a nice place with good learning facilities.
Great support for students especially for internationals
Brilliant uni for all 3 years of studying here.
With DMU situated in the leicester town centre, accessibility is easy between campus and town centre.
Enjoyed my first year but second year being completely online is a shame.
Its a good university with city campus and amazing facilities.
Good university helpful teachers
Great campus with many facilities and easily accessible to all
Very nice experience overall, welcoony staff and a lot of accessible resources
DMU is a well rounded university with loads of clubs and extra curriculum activities available, but the support they provided during the coronavirus pandemic was not acceptable
Good university. Excellent facilities and overall great experience.
Dmu is such a diverse place with people from different backgrounds! They have a lot to offer such as global trips and societies to join
Good university with good facilities
Tutors are all amazing and really helpful
Fantastic faculty and really modern, clean buildings. Most of the staff really do care
I study online. But my fee is the same like study in uni
Amazing for student satisfaction!!
Great university overall. With lot of supports available.
The university is very organised. They have very good communication. DMU’s online system is also good.
very good university, great staff & very helpful! student union advice email can be very hard to get a response from but there are other ways of contacting them. clubs & societies have a wide range of options unfortunately due to covid many of them couldn't run properly this year.
With covid19 affecting the whole experience with campus life, there is not much to say. But with the few weeks, from the beginning of the school year, it wasn't so bad but clearly, COVID19 has robbed me of my DeMontfort University school and campus life experience. Hope we all come out of this pandemic stronger and happier.
Lovely experience, staff members really friendly and kind
I was really surprised with the DMU facilities and all the support provided to the students. I highly recommend it to all students.
I believe i made the right choice in choosing DMU however, due to the current climate of the pandemic, facilities have understandably been closed. It’s a shame, but i do hope in the near future i am able to gain a full experience of what this university has to offer.
Its a great university with many opportunities even during times like this. Every lecturer is helpful and is there for you when you need them
great uni to go to for socials and studying product design
It's a good uni but we've had no support during the pandemic which is really bad. The teachers haven't been helpful and some have even given us wrong information for assignments and when given a bad grade I was given next to no feedback to help improve
University is good, covid has restricted alot however before that it was very fun a variety of clubs are open.
DMU is such a supportive university, with plenty of opportunities
A great university with good facilities for all courses
I enjoyed my time at university and the campus was perfect. It’s in a great location and my teachers were friendly and supportive. I also loved my dmu global trip to Canada which was my highlight of university.
DMU has a great diverse range of societies, and students so you can always learn something new
Uni is alright you know, I really like the campus. Very nice and modern
Great place, really good teachers and people
Love the uni despite the covid
It’s great, really great place
Very fine for all courses, near to city centre, staffs are very Friendly and they are providing good facilities
Good educational facilities with lots of activities.
Its a very beautiful university with some beautifully built buildings and facilities for students around the campus. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
Very good university and good for international
Dmu seem to spend more on marketing than they do in teaching. Most of our equipment in CEM was either obsolote or unreliable. It made study very stressful as you would struggle to find information on the equipment you were using, and wouldn't always know if it would work when you needed it.
Coming to DMU was the best decision I have made! I can’t find any faults! The facilities are amazing and the accommodation I can’t speak enough of! I have made friends for life through societies and got endless support throughout my studies from the university! Especially during the current pandemic the tutors have been working extra hard to ensure we are getting the best learning and experience we possibly can!
middle of a pandemic right now so very limited experiences
Graphic Design and Illustration course is led by tutors who are heavily biased and bully students that they dislike. It creates a course culture of enabling bad behaviour, and no one is ever held to account for harassment. The tutors pick one or two students whose work they like, and put all the time and opportunities into those few who fit their house style. God forbid you produce work slightly different to those around you; prepare for the tutors to try and make you fit their mould and produce work exactly like everyone else. Poor, poor mental health care from the uni as a result. Avoid.
All in all a very good university and depending on which department you are placed in the staff are extremely friendly and helpful
Tried to get comms over postragrd courses, no reply or acknowldgement and sent the following complaint by email: Dear DMU, I have to say I am quite appalled at the lack of communication despite filling in several eforms, email correspondence and even an application for postgraduate study. I have had no feedback at all, and the postgrad open day is today. Just give me reasons why I should even contemplate study with you now, if this is the poor standard set? Kind regards
Great campus vibe with loads of study areas as well as areas to socialise. Inclusive atmosphere and lecturers and other members of staff are kind and helpful.
Nice place! Lectures are great and lots of support.
como serán las cases de la universidad durante el primer semestre
DMU is a very diverse university, ranging from the subjects taught to the people on campus - I've interacted with a lot of people on campus ranging from various walks of life to technical strengths and all of them have one thing in common; doing the absolute best they can in their studies and personal time. All of my lecturers are superb at what they teach and will almost move heaven and earth to assist you - even if it's not directly related to your course. The campus is clean and modern, and the facilities are some of the best when comparing to other universities I've seen (such as the 24/7/365 library). Being a computing student, I found that there were a lack of societies for people like me (apart from course-related societies such as the DMU Hackers, Robotics Club etc.). Another issue I found is that the careers service isn't always great at best, but I have a feeling that this may change over time. All in all, DMU is an excellent university and I'm glad that I had picked it.
Good courses, friendly staff. Amazing societies everyone was friendly. The library has great facilities as well as learning services which are really helpful
I made an enquiry CIPD (level 7) accredited Master’s program in late 2019. Last date of application was May 2020. Due to Covid related over-occupation, I dropped the idea of taking a course this year. One fine day, DMU franchisee contacted me and insisted I submit a late application if I'm still interested. I asked them a lot of pre-application questions, including the expected travel in 2nd Semester/Q1 of 2020. We had 6-7 email exchanges and they also called 2-3 times. I felt very motivated, changed my mind and I submitted a late application. Till date my application has not been replied, despite reminders. Few days back I got an email with access info to DMU library, and yesterday I got invitation to a webinar - the webinar is scheduled for 29 June and invitation comes on 2 July. I'm ignoring the recent emails (it could be spam). However, I'm disappointed with the process I went through with DMU contacts for the admission.
I am doing a part time GDL here distance learning over two years. It is good value for money and the study weekends are very good. The quality of the teaching is very high as is the study materials. There are some IT problems but they worked hard to resolve them. In relation to COVID19 the university I feel has been fair to everyone allowing online assessment which I have just completed this week. Given I have health issues, my health and well being is very important. I think the university have been fair and to be honest why would you want to sue them as others have said on here because it's a Force Majeure it's not their fault. 5 Star teaching. It may not be London or hip. It may not be a crème de la crème university but they have a fab law team here.
DMU has great facilities for design courses, the building is really nice. the workshop there is too small for the size of the university though. But their lecturers are very helpful
COVID 19 handled bad by lecturers with strikes how unfortunate our fees are not valued.
everything is perfect ,tutors are very passionate and friendly
