Obviously i haven’t been onto campus since first year but in first year there was a wide range of clubs and societies, the library is a great facility and so is the cafe and union.
Aye the place is alright tbh but not worth it if it's all online
All online learning due to Covid.
Great University! Would recommend applying to anyone considering.
Good university, not top notch but very honest and overall keeps its students satisfied.
The University cancelled the program I supposed to attend, 3 weeks before the start date. I have got the student visa in my hand, paid for everything and was ready to move in a week. I am extremely disappointed at GCU.
Amazing university, so kind and caring especially over covid. They have gone out of their way to be accommodating and supportive and understanding.
Overall a good university, with welcoming staff, a modern but small campus (which makes it easy to navigate), a large library, and some good lecturers. Also, passing modules is not hard overall, as long as you show commitment (i.e. going to lectures) and put in minimal effort into your work. However, a good portion of the lecturers were passive, did not make an effort to captivate students and teach interesting content. Some of them had an annoying habit of not teaching you things properly, and then demanding you to present work to a high standard, as if students were actually minimally prepared to do so. Grades are around the same for mostly everyone, except for the 4 or 5 people that the lecturers love. The graduates office, although comprised of nice staff, fails to actually be useful, as I never saw a relevant internship or job opportunity being presented to me. The careers site does not contain any relevant internships or graduate jobs in my field of studies as well.
GOOD UNI, some teachers are good
Small campus, easy to locate buildings. Canteen food overpriced.
A great university in Central Glasgow, exceeds its reputation.
I like this university, its a good place to be.
Tutors at GCU are always available to help with your studies on a 1 to 1 basis
Had a very good experience at GCU!
nice, beautiful campus, in particular, in summer
Great university everyone is so friendly and welcoming really makes you feel at ease
I love it I love it, good quality.
Bad experience, I would definitely not recommend others to live here!!!!
I have to say it’s no choice for me to choose any other one. So it’s Okay 👌
Great location near to city centre
Not hot water for a long time.
Great university and great social feel
i enjoy university and my studies
OK, it has been a good experience
The food catering servie can be improved
the teachers arw very nice and they help me alot! I love my school
I'm at college but it's forcing me to select a uni
All the facilities are available
The university layout and library are excellent, which makes the teaching environment more enjoyable. However some of the lectures are terrible, I currently had a heated argument with one of the lectures, which I believe to be a personal issue. As I felt it could have gotten physical and has become only worse since October. Nothing has been undertaken to address the issue. Warm and welcoming reception, not quite. Time to leave, probably.
did not use career and union services much
Although this university can receive a lot of stigma from other groups, it has an excellent healthcare school and nursing school with it being ranked 3rd in Scotland on the university league timetables, 2019.
The university of Glasgow is has been an excellent choice. I have been given the opportunity to meet lecturers and professors experts in my field of studies. Besides, the facilities provided there are excellent, even during the summer as there were coffee shops available and the library was opened every single day. This is an excellent institution with four centuries of history.
Fantastic university, great environment and friendly people
Brilliant facilities. Always someone there to help.
Going into my Third year within Glasgow Caledonian university and throughout my time here it has allowed me to meet new people, join clubs that I love and has amazing facilities for learning. The only downside to Caley is our small student union. All in all I'm definitely happy I chose Glasgow Caley to study.
Very considerate of people from all faiths. Specifically - I am a muslim and there is a place of worship as well as ablution rooms. This allows me to study and practice my religion at university making it easier for me to balance both.
I like the campus, it’s nice with plenty of space and all in one place so your not having to walk for miles from class to class. Overall I will have to say I feel the uni are very last minute with everything, there’s a chaotic and disorganised feel every time I return from summer. Exams times aren’t great. The exam period always starts like less than a week after classes finish meaning if you’re one of the first exams u have no time to study properly which is obviously very stressful and I feel leads to bad results.
Amazing support system in place, feel like all staff genuinely want to help and there is a great atmosphere throughout campus among fellow students. Advanced facilities and amenities on offer
So much to do , everyone’s mentally sound
The staff and the facilities are great, but it can get a little crowded from time to time.
The name explains it all.Uni for the common good. Great university!
Really modern campus, a great library, Good course structure
The facilities are quite good, as a lot of new renovations have taken place. The societies and clubs are as good as students make them, so it's not so much on the university if these are bad. But, there are many to join. The student union is decent, nothing too special but it's what you'd expect from an on campus union. The internet and wifi is pretty bad in some area's, and a lot of their computer and network systems are quite slow and dated. More could be done. I don't even know where the careers service is, nor did I hear from them much. Wasn't well advertised at all.
Honestly, this uni could be so much better. But it's full of far more useless and/or lazy tutors than there are good/decent tutors. There's no star system on this review for rating the lecturers, so I'll be honest about the facilities, they are pretty good. But if you actually want to learn something useful, you're better of doing it all from online courses. As that's effectively what I had to do. Much of the material provided was awful and out-dated. For a technology course, this should not be the case. Some coursework marking felt as though it was just given out randomly to look like legitimate overall marks, as some modules had overly simple coursework that would mean all students are handing in identical coursework, how this produced such varied marks amazes me. Some modules would give a marking scheme when coursework is issued, some would not, making it near impossible to determine what is actually being asked, or what needs to be done.
Great experience and very fulfilling academic modules which helped me in developing my skills and competencies.
My course was taught very well and all the faculty were amazing. GCU however is run like a business with no regard for student life. No proper students union, no sports union, hardly any funding for societies and sports, basic facilities, no music facilities, no debates/ external speakers . It is a glorified college which focuses more on "the common good" that it's own students.
I always felt very supported and the staff were great.
Glasgow Caledonian University is a school I will recommend to both national and international student. Great staff both educational and non educational, great Learning Development Centre team, well equipped library, health and fitness centre, well organised educational and fun events
It was the best 4 years of my life
It's a very good university!!! Its accommodating to international students, and passes out really important messages about life !
Gcu is a great place to learn with very supportive lecturers and a great use of facilities! I love the quiet library and the fact that it remains quiet is a great attribute.
The science department are the least helpful people I’ve ever met in my entire life. They do not care
Great campus with lots of facilities, always notified of career opportunities by module leader. The union isn’t that great as quite expensive.
Tutors are amazing and super helpful. The campus has a really welcoming and friendly vibe!
The University have everything as a normal student needs. And even staff and the environment are very friendly apart from this you will have time to meet with different people from different countries by which you will get awareness of different cultures etc.
I love studying at Glasgow Caledonian University. It’s a brilliant atmosphere with great tutors and support. I am a member of the cheerleading sports society and it was such a good decision because I’ve made so many new friends and I am learning so many new skills.
very good place for computing :)
Very supportive throughout degree
The campus is amazing and it has all the facilities needed for a student. All the clubs and societies are well organized and fun.
I really enjoy attending GCU. The facilities and staff are amazing. I would highly recommend it!
Very modern university and campus and career oriented
Excellent facilities available through out the campus
The engineering department is dreadful. The lecturers are uninteresting and not helpful in the slighest. They fail to actually teach anything about the modules that are in the course before including material in the exam which has never been seen before. There are maybe 4 good lecturers in the engineering department and one of those 4 is semi retired. DO NOT COME HERE
Love it had an amazing 1st year
Great university, with helpful stuff and amazing facilities
Excellent university with great services and support
Love the facilities provided to every student, most importantly the library.
Supportive staff, variety of societies and great facilities
GCU has a great and easy to navigate campus and facilities, very approachable staff and a very good student support system. What makes the time at GCU great is the atmoshpere, the numerous opportunities to meet new friends and the university's constant focus on improvement and drive to become the best it can be.
It’s the best uni. Friendly staff and good timetabling has allowed me to plan work and things around exams and lectures
Cale offers a fantastic university campus in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, with fantastic supportive staff on a number of levels. However, the facilities are somewhat lacking in terms of expensive canteen facilities (the likes of the local Sainsbury’s is far better value for money) and the student Union is pretty non-existent when compared to other Glasgow universities.
Once you get the WiFi sorted it's all breezy from there , always brilliant opportunities to do weird and wonderful things , fab library as well
Great modern campus with great facilities for computing etc. Unions pretty small but still class. Feel it could do with more societies etc
Clubs and societies disappointing
Many clubs and societies available Still need improvement for student associations building
Great time and societies are vast and diverse
Spacious places where you can study and also be with your friends
Lot mix of people very big and overwhelming but soon used to it
Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good Good
The small campus meant that students are able to move from one classroom or lecture hall to the next easily and relatively quickly for classes, and the entire environment and university staff (including those in the Wellbeing Service & the security services) have all been very welcoming to students.
Brilliant, new University building, all situated on the one campus, but severely lacking a student union.
poorly organised, poor 'student experience' - freshers, societies, union
They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery at Caley but the facilities are phenomenally good
Good library and cafes bad for union, freshers and societies
