I'm happy with my accommodation, the amenities are good. However it's quite away from campus and there isn't much of a social environment.
The area is lovely, located just a few minutes walk away from the tube/bus stop and high street. It's a quiet area where the loudest sounds are the trains going by or a car backing up. The building cat TJ is very nice :) Despite this, I did NOT have a good experience here. There is no prior notification of maintenance, so you are often woken up to them knocking on your door. At the beginning of October, our flat lost its hot water; management sent four people to come look at it, all resulting in nothing changing. Halfway through November, they were pestered enough to give our flat keys to a few empty rooms in a different building to shower. In the middle of December, we got no warning of a cleaning that was happening, and all of our items in those rooms were thrown away. When we went to the front desk in a panic (we had no soap, towels, shampoo, conditioner, etc), they handed me gloves and told me to dig through the trash. Overall, okay place to live until you have a problem.
iQ Tufnell house is in a pretty good location being less than a 10-minute walk from Tufnell Park tube station, and has plenty of bus stops. The streets feel fairly safe and is pretty well lit at night so I don't feel too anxious as a woman walking if Im alone or in a group. Students tend to keep in their flats and don't talk to a ton of people outside their floor but my flatmates have all been super nice. The fire alarm goes off at least four times a day and I know at least to people with a mouse in their room so I would say those are some fairly negative points.
This wasn’t the place to make friends I would say, at least for me but it was everything it needed to be in a great location, close to the station and my school. I felt safe and comfortable so that’s what was important for to me.

The general experience is good, but here are a few things that could be improved. 1. Too many unnecessary access to the rooms and not properly notified. For instance, no one emailed me when the contractors came to change the fire alarms in August. Another example is that the contractors failed to meet the schedule to change the bathroom doors three times (residents are not allowed to stay in the rooms during the constructing period). However, the bathroom doors are perfectly functioning and I cannot see why they have to be changed. 2. Very poor soundproof. You can nearly hear all the words of your neighbours, especially when its relatively quieter in the night. Although there are rules to keep the noises at a low level from 11:00 to 7:00, clearly not everyone abides to this rule. Complaints to the site team worked but it's better to solve the problem by improving the rooms. 3. Poor ventilation fans These fans are extremely noisy.
Really wonderful accommodation. The only disadvantage is not close to city center. But here we can enjoy a great park with animals!
I lived with them for 3 years, and the quality of service has drastically declined, as the majority of the staff left. Social life became almost non-existent - organized events were so few and far between you were lucky if you were able to attend one event. The social spaces are clean, but they barely get any use. But most importantly, the quality to which they hold their rooms has plummeted in the three years I was there. Old furniture that is worn out with use, and scarce, old tiles and showers in the bathrooms, and even windows that desperately need repairs. You get one plastic kitchen chair for your desk, and if you have a studio, toasters and kettles are only there if left by the previous tenant - you only get a microwave-oven combo that shuts down after 15 mins so good luck cooking anything!
Overall good value for money student accomodation. Transport links are very good. Social side of the accomodation not so good.
Where to begin? Well the washing should come easy to all as they are placed in the most inconvenient location for majority of the room and oh you would expect them to have enough for so many people living there but noooo it’s just 8 and half of them never even work. But the real issue is the noise, the walls and ceiling are thinner than people in country’s with food shortage and oh you guessed it, no one in the reception takes your claims serious cause it would result in them upsetting another paying tenant so they wouldn’t say anything if they had the olympics happening there! Please I urge you to find another place to stay.
I stayed in Tufnell house for one year. Although I made great friends, who I am now living with in new accommodation. The staff treated us with no respect. We were paying £240 a week to be treated like invalids. I would not recommend this place to any students who want anything close to a typical university experience. 0/5
very good place to stay. I choose Tufnell because is well served by the tube and for the Gym!!!
NEVER live or even stay there for short time. You'll definitely regret. People get drunk and make constant & loud noise at night. You won't be able to get good sleep thanks to those jerks. Complaints don't work!! Bathroom, particularly the shower is a joke. They don't even let you see how it looks in the photo gallery or virtual viewing online, which is self-explanatory. Surrounding area is scarcely populated. If u'r a girl (even a boy alone) better not walk in that area after 8pm. My British local friend warned me of the potential danger of walking alone, who insisted and offered to drive me home once when it was only 7pm! Daily grocery shopping is very very inconvenient. As the nearest one (Burgeons) is a "daylight robbery". The price there is unreasonable compared to Poundland (13 min walking) Tesco (15 min walking) & Morrisons (20 mins walking). only No.4 bus nearby w/ average waiting time of 12 mins, which is quite inbearable if u only need to ride it for grocery shopping.
The worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. Will never reccommend it. When I moved in to my studio the room was extremely dirty and dusty, the chair was broken( so I had to buy a new one)the sink was broken, the windows were broken. Seems that nothing was done since the previous tenant las left. There are cracks all over the walls, the room is so old that the ceiling is cracking all the time. As there was something wrong with the windows I could feel the wind coming, so I had to buy an extra heater as it was freezing, but still got cold four times in a year as I woke up in a cold room. I had to complaint thousand times but nothing was effectively done until I talked to the manager. Some members of stuff are unwilling to help. SometimesI had to wait more than for 24 hours so someone will come and fix things. The interesting thing is that when I had my viewing they showed me completely different, clean rooms that, I assume, are there only for showing people. +lots of spiders in room!
I am very satisfied with living at Tufnell House. The location is great- the area is quiet and peaceful with lots of nice small shops and cafes around. It is also very close to the city centre and vibrant area of camden. The building itself is very neat and well-managed. The stuff is always welcoming, friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this place!:)
Awful - Advertises laundrette facilities and internet which they take no ownership over and are a complete joke. Heating system is shocking, apparently this is the first time people have complained though as they're supposedly changing it over... I doubt this happens. Shower is beyond small, I hope you enjoy the shower curtain sticking to you as you slowly rotate to try and wash yourself without drenching the room. Security are beyond lazy, rude, and struggle to understand English - although they manage to do so fine when watching YouTube? Oh, and don't expect them to actually stop any theft, or stop any of the late night partying that keeps everyone awake. All in all - worth about £50 a week - not the £210+
The best part of this place is the local cat that wanders around. As a postgraduate, I've experienced several student accomodations around the country, all of which are about half the price and offer a far better service. The room is relatively well sized for a student accomodation, but the en-suite shower room is beyond small - there is no way you can stand and shower without: a. having the shower curtain hug you, and/or, soaking the room. The accomodation 'offers' laundry services, by which they mean they have a laundrette on site that they take zero responsibility for as it is run by Circuit, who charge 2.90 for an eco wash that leaves soap on your laundry, so it's actually 3.40+ for a wash, and another 1.40 for an hour on the drier, but you'll need to at least two hours worth if you don't want wet clothes. It's also left in a constant state, as the cleaners seem to ignore the place. The machines are filthy and haven't been scrubbed since September, making the whole washing proce
Great activities, quiet and nice area, modern common spaces
In my opinion, overall is quite good, but some staffs at the reception are suck and idiot because they do not have any responsibility for their work.
I stayed at Tufnell House for my three month work placement in London. As it was only a short term let, we had the premium studio rooms. I was on the ground floor and was initially a little worried about security but the whole building is very secure and there are security or reception staff working 24/7 and they are all very friendly. The room had everything I needed- heating, air on, mop, Hoover, lamp, bin, desk chair and stool etc. Any issues could be reported online and they were all resolved within 2 days. The social spaces were all very nice and modern and the gym was small but open 24/7 so it was good as I was at work most of the week. They also organised free social events such as a St Patrick's day party and valentines party with free food and drink. I would definitely recommend Tufnell House as the location is great for getting into the city centre, although maybe have a viewing if you think the tiny showers will be an issue as they are VERY small!
