All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Fantastic accommodation with great amenities, the staff are very helpful and quick to solve any problems.
A great space for a student with lots of space to make it your home away from home
Maintenance takes a long time to solve issues with the room . Cleaners didn’t clean my room well enough when I first moved in
based on previous experience in another accommadation this one falls way short. been here more then enough and not enough is done to sort out problems that was mentioned when moved in. i think it all comes down to the management. theres no clear system and sometimes when you see things you worry how will they deal with. without writing on and on it goes around ammenities that were promised that do not work, long waiting times for maintanaince, poor communication, poor social events. i dont know if they even care
Well sized studios with own kitchenettes but that lack ovens, a countertop oven or air fryer of your own is highly recommended. Reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day with full concierge facilities available during office hours (9am-6pm) and basic services like guest sign in and parcel collection available at all times. Smoke detectors in individual studios will set off the building's fire alarm so it goes off frequently. Underfloor heating in every studio takes a while to heat up but keeps studios nice and warm with good control via dual thermostats to control the heat of the floor and the room separately. Heating in corridors and public spaces is usually on the hot side but I'd rather that than too cold. During summer the building does get very hot, having a tower fan or dehumidifier air conditioner unit is highly recommended. Do not use a swamp cooler- small air-conditioning units you have to put water in- as the UK is very humid, these will only make it worse after a while.
Great staff and fantastic rooms. Just found the building a bit quiet
Good room, good social spaces, WiFi works well, attempts are made to resolve the issues promptly but not all issues are resolved.
Definitely the best accommodation I’ve had in my 3 years of uni. I come from Manchester so moving here was the easiest process for me. The management are amazing and so helpful when it comes to most things. Thankyou Axo!
Since the management has changed over to AXO I have had a better experience, receptionists are lovely and friendly. If we get parcels we are notifiedy email. Cleaning happens regularly. The staff put on events.
I find the building good, especially staff! It’s very quite and everyone sticks to themselves so it is very hard to make friends.
Great staff (extremely friendly and quick to resolve issues) and the monthly social events are a good opportunity to meet everyone and relax. The accommodation is also very close to multiple transportation routes.
Have no complaints with the building, great staff, facilities are clean and have access to a study and games room, sadly the current people living there are not sociable so haven’t made many friends.
It is a good place to stay but it could do with some more improvements, such as more laundry machines, more gym machines.
Accomodation is stellar, well above and beyond with a gym, pool table and rooftop terrace. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make sure any issues get fixed if it is within their power. Had to put four stars for the following only because: Value for money: This is definitely luxury accomodation but the price is very high for rent. Location is great in terms of local underground stations though it's a little far out of central and sometimes doesn't feel the safest. Social experience is only four because this accomodation mostly attract mature and medical students, all of whom are usually busy working or doing their thinking so people looking for a party place are out of look but if you want a good night's sleep and friendly neighbours it's perfect. I also had to put 4 for wifi because it's provided by a third party and there can sometimes be some unreliability as a result but on the whole it's fine.
Had a viewing here and will be booking soon! Amazing spaces and lovely staff :)
