Ramshaw Apartments is situated a short walk from the university buildings meaning you never have to worry about being late for class. Residents will have access to many amenities that Ranmoor and Endcliff have to offer which includes bars, stores and green spaces.
Get some quiet time and make use of the many study spaces at The Edge Hub and The Ridge, which have computers that are free for students to use. Residents can also make use of the free fitness suite which helps you get a mental release after a long day of classes. Students can also benefit from the Residence Life events, sports activities and social spaces. Stay with peace of mind knowing there is contents insurance, all-inclusive rent, customer services, laundrette, cycle storage and parking permits that are available upon request.

At Ramshaw mail is delivered directly to the building. Letters are delivered to the mailbox for the flat, in the case of parcels, couriers should make contact with the flat and deliver the items directly.

How do the room numbers work in Ramshaw? Can we know which rooms face south ( the road) i have lots of plants that like light snd i don’t want to be next to the kitchen as want a quiter room as I’m a light sleeper

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

For any maintenance issues the Customer Services team are happy to help acs-customerservices@sheffield.ac.uk The cleaning team will clean all communal areas every 2 weeks and students will know when to expect them. The cleaners will not clean bedroom though, that's your own space. All flats have cleaning equipment included. Residence Life hold loads of events over the year and many of these are free to attend. Ramshaw is in a good location in relation to the uni, and there are always lots of res-life events to attend. The accommodation itself is really nice with a good communal area in the kitchen and cleaners come once a fortnight. Issues are generally resolved quite quickly.

The accommodation has been great so far, its been awesome meeting new people, and the social areas are great to hangout in, the rooms are also great, and the cleaners come to clean the communal areas once every other week, the only downside is its around a half an hour walk from the city centre area, but id say its one of the better buildings in Ranmoor student village.

There are often events in the social areas of the Hub and the Ridge. Residence Life organise loads of events and many are free. Our cleaners will clean all communal areas every 2 weeks. You will know when they will be coming but they won't clean your bedroom. It's a maximum of 30 minutes to walk to main campus. It's an easy walk along well lit, main roads. Generally good, but Wifi frequently cuts out with my smartphone. With a laptop it's stable, so personally it's not that much of a problem.

As an international master's student, I chose university accommodation because it was the easiest option for me. It proved to be good value for money. The room itself is compact, has all that is necessary for productive studies, the kitchen is well equipped, and the surroundings of the building are green and lovely. Also, the fee includes cleaning services for the kitchen and corridor, which is really helpful, and all issues with electricity and other stuff are resolved quickly.

Ramshaw is situated in a convenient yet quiet location, with comfortable and spacious rooms - I’ve thoroughly enjoyed living here. The university has also been very proactive in dealing with any issues we’ve had in our apartments.

The wifi connection has to be fixed properly. It's horrible. Continuously disconnects.

Ranmoor is ok. If you can, try Endcliffe as this accommodation might be a 5-10 min walk away. If you’re in A-B your rooms are red and if you’re in C-D your rooms are green (I know that’s what I wanted to know before coming). If near the ridge and the washing facilities and there’s an alleyway for quickness.

The sites are very close to each other and students from any location on these sites are free to use any of the facilities on offer. Regarding the room colours please don't start planning your decor just yet !. Life cycles of the properties means that the colours may change and we would hate for you to have a colour clash !. Really good quality accommodation! Warm and welcoming, really nice little home to live out first year!
Overall good but totally depends on your flat mates and those who live around you. My room itself was not the best state but maintanence fixed a lot of the problems. You will always find people for social stuff. Money wise £128 (ensuite) a week feels a bit steep especially when a TV licence or double beds are not included. That said it provides you a way to make friends easily living in halls, there's always something going on.
