Howden Apartments resides in Endcliffe, close to The Edge that includes launderettes, a community fridge, and social spaces for everyone's needs. It's a 5 minute walk away from local shops, whether that be the village store down the road or to Morrison's; Tesco Superstore is also close by through botanical gardens. The sceneries are breathtaking, especially when you live on higher floors and head outside. It's quite a walk to the school buildings for lectures and the city centre, however, I'm glad that encourages some aerobic exercise. There are buses in case that you feel like saving some cals. It's quiet most of the time but for some nights, especially in the weekends, it does become noisy. The en-suite is fabulous and spacious, as well as the communal area (kitchen and the lounge). There's plenty of storage and 2 sets of induction hobs with ovens and refrigerators, allowing you to cook whenever and freeze your meal batches wherever. It's a splendid place to live in as a student!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Great location and social aspect but slightly lacking with upkeep( cleaners biweekly means flat can get really bad), eduroam is shocking, but it is everywhere. Social spaces are more than sufficient and allow you to meet anyone you like, Great village and great place to live.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Howden Apartments! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the location and the social aspects of your accommodation. We do ask all residents to contribute to keeping the shared spaces tidy, and we're glad to hear you're doing your part. Each flat is equipped with a hoover, mop, and bucket, and our biweekly cleaning of the communal areas should also help maintain cleanliness. If you're experiencing any issues with the Wi-Fi, please feel free to stop by Customer Services at the Edge to pick up an ethernet cable, which may help improve your connection. Thank you again for your feedback!
Great place to live in first year to be surrounded by many others in the same position as you. Not a fan of the hills we have to walk up to get to lectures as it’s quite far. Rooms are a decent size and have everything you need. The village store and the edge are top tier!
Thank you for your review! I’m really pleased to hear that you’re enjoying your time at Howden Apartments and that it’s been a great place for your first year, surrounded by fellow students. I’m afraid there’s not much we can do about the hills (they do say Sheffield is a city built on seven hills!), but hopefully, the vibrant student community and everything the Ranmoor & Endcliffe Village offers make up for it! It’s great to know that you’re finding the rooms well-equipped and that the Village Store and Edge are hitting the mark - many of our residents love having those amenities close by! If there’s ever anything more you need or further feedback you’d like to share, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team at acs-customerservices@sheffield.ac.uk. Howden is a great location in the Encliffe Student Village! It is close to the community fridge, the laundry at the Edge, the bar and the workspaces too. It is also very close to the village store which is very useful for your last minute bits and late night sweet treats. Howden is as far from the main Uni buildings and the Student Union as all the Endcliffe accommodation and it is just a 20 minute walk in. Howden is a social and busy area to live so consider that when looking into accommodation. It is right at the centre of the village so there is always something going on. The maintenence response times are based on urgency and are efficent. Communal areas are cleaned every two weeks.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am happy to hear you like your room in Howden. The facilities on the Ranmoor/Endcliffe site are great and as you say, the village store is handy for anything you forget in your main shop or if you run out of anything. There is a diverse range of products at reasonable prices including a gluten free section. It's a comfortable 20 minute walk to main campus along well lit roads and there is always someone around. We aim to get any maintenance issues resolved as soon as possible. Just report any issues and we will respond to them. As you mentioned all communal areas on the Ranmoor/Endcliffe site are cleaned every 2 weeks but sorry, you have to clean your own room but we do provide cleaning equipment !. Best wishes, Sharon
Great building to be in, overall very happy with my experience so far. Not much I would change as it stands and I believe every first year should start here.

Howden student accommodation offers a comfortable living experience with modern facilities and a friendly community atmosphere. The rooms are well-maintained, and amenities like study areas and social spaces enhance the overall student life. Convenient location near campus adds to its appeal.
Thank you for your review!
I’m pleased to hear that you find Howden Apartments comfortable, with well-maintained rooms and a welcoming community atmosphere. It’s great that you’ve enjoyed our study areas and social spaces, designed to enhance your student experience. I noticed your feedback on the ratings, particularly regarding location and social experience. While Ranmoor & Endcliffe is a bit further from campus, many residents appreciate being part of the largest student community in Sheffield, with easy access to local amenities, including our 24/7 Customer Service team, the Edge bar, Fitness Suite, and Village Store. We also host regular events to foster a sense of community, which many students find enhances their overall experience. Regarding the internet, we are currently implementing a WiFi Upgrade Programme to ensure a more reliable connection across all our properties in Ranmoor & Endcliffe, including Howden. While it may not improve your experience immediately, it’s sure to enhance the experience for students joining the university in the coming years. We truly value your feedback and would love to hear more about your experience to understand how we can make your stay even better. Think Howden apartments are a good block to live in. Having recently been renovated the kitchen and the living room are really nice spaces to spend time in

Modern and clean. Close to the Edge and not too far from shops.
If you're considering where to live in your first year of uni then Endcliffe is the place to be and more specifically Howden flats. It is the closest set of flats to walking to uni, you are right opposite The Edge so perfect to do your washing and to pick up any post/binbags from the reception. You're also right near the field which is ideal for summer and the taxi rank is so close so perfect for nights out. I loved my flat in Howden and my room looked right on to the square outside the Edge so i could always see what was going on. And because it was the closest block of flats to the exit to walk to uni, my friends would always drop by for a catch up on their way home. The flats also all have lifts and there's a mix of size flats to choose from. I would recommend not choosing a ground floor flat because you'll have plenty people walking by. First year really was the best because of Endcliffe. It is nothing like any other uni and makes it so easy to socialise because everyone is togethe
Best place to live at uni of shef
Considering all other locations at the University, Endcliffe campus is by far the best. Howden block specifically can get rather noisy as it is situated near the road where most students come in and out when the go on a night out, which is something to bear in mind if you don’t want to go out much and don’t want to suffer from the noise. The Edge building is class as it offers an onsite place for students to socialise or work outside of the flat, without having to go all the way to the University/ nearest Village. I feel the kitchen/communal lounge is rather small for what we are paying for, and I recommend staying in Deluxe rooms if you can afford to.
Very tidy, big rooms and big kitchen
Extremely loud if you get a room facing the Edge, even during exam time. "Quiet Time" is not enforced by security.
Loved all of my time at Sheffield, but having these halls in year one made it extra special. Close to social spots, all my friends close by, en-suite, clean and accessible.
Rooms and the flat overall are great but aren't really worth the money, but I guess the social experience and environment make up for the cost. Endcliffe is the place to be in first year, easy to get to and everyone loves it.
For what you pay, this place is not worth it. Half the stuff in my room doesn't work, the hot water goes out constantly, it's dead loud all through the night, and the rooms/beds are tiny. Spend the same amount of money and get yourself a nice flat that isn't student accommodation.
Good location, central to everything. 1 minute from the Edge and Launderette. Only problem is it can become a little noisy...
So close to the edge so always something to do.
Great location (very central), modern rooms, and fast internet (WiFi and wired).
Although they are most probably more expensive than a student house, I believe it is the perfect place to be in first year- I lived with amazing people and friends from my course were in buildings next door- it was so great that everyone was so close and made my social experience 10x better!
Incredible! Spacious, convenient, and easy to be socialable. Always clean and if any problems occurred they were always sorted out right away. Always felt very safe too
This accommodation is so overpriced
