Kendrick Hall Biography
Kendrick Hall is right opposite the University of Reading London Road campus and is only an eighteen-minute walk from the University of Reading main Whiteknights campus. You have everything you need right on your doorstep, such as the town center and train station.
If you are in a sociable mood, you can join one of the many events hosted throughout the year or simply hang out in the common room and watch TV. During the warmer months, you can relax outside in the courtyard and landscaped gardens. If you need to focus on your studies, you can make use of the study space, WiFi, and printing facilities. For your benefit, there are bike storage and laundry facilities. To make your stay as convenient as possible there is an onsite reception and maintenance team, secure door entry, CCTV, and 24-hour security.
Kendrick Hall has four different room styles set across seven accommodation blocks. If you are looking to feel part of a community, then the en-suite rooms with shared facilities are the ideal choice. Alternatively, you can opt to stay in the privacy of your own studio. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom, under-bed storage, a small double bed, study space, and a wardrobe.

Found a vacancy later into summer
The only good thing about this property is that is closer to the town centre. When raised a complaint, they take several days to fix it and most of the time they've just marked the complaint as 'complete' while the issue is still not fixed. The drinking water is so bad. The rooms are decent enough but the maintenance and quality of the rooms can be improved.
We`re very sorry to hear you feel this way and for any delays in addressing your maintenance issues. Please do let us know which issues you`ve experienced by dropping an email to kendrickhall@wearehomesforstudents.com so the management team can urgently address these for you. Unfortunately Thames Water is well known for not tasting the best, particularly to anyone used to nicer water from outside the area. We encourage students to fill up their water bottles with the filtered water available in the dispenser in reception.
The location is good and the building is nice and modern but I think that the WiFi could be a bit better because it disconnects a lot and whenever I have a phone call, it goes laggy

I haven’t had the best experience so far, there have been a few hiccups to start with but there’s still the rest of the year so things might change.

I've stayed here for 2 years (in my first year and now in my final year) and it has definitely improved since my time here in first year. The reception area has been updated to include more study space and there are lots more social events. They aren't always the quickest with maintenance issues so sometimes you have to remind them a few times (when I moved in I had no power, and it took them 3 reminders and 5 days to fix it). The room hadn't been cleaned at all when I moved in also. I never have any issues with the wifi though. It is very close to the town centre and the train station and there are very good bus links. It is about 20-25 minutes walking to the university and it is uphill.
Hi there, thanks for this review It's great to hear that the improvements to the reception area and the increase in social events have made your time at Kendrick Hall more enjoyable. However, the maintenance issues you faced, especially with the power and cleaning upon moving in, must have been frustratin we do apologise for the delays in resolving this. Glad to hear you feel the location is convenient with easy access to the town center and public transport, even if the walk to the university is a bit of a treck!
The building and the rooms are really nice. Social experience I gave it a 4 star as I was hoping if they had like a common room with a pool table maybe but overall it’s a student accommodation
We are so pleased you like your room. We hope to see you at our biweekly and monthly social events. Sorry we can’t provide a pool table, however you are more than welcome to pop over to our sister site Crown House (2 min walk away) to spend time in the games room there, featuring a pool table, fooseball, table tennis and a cinema room.
Wrapping up my academic journey with this fantastic property in the heart of Reading. Sheila and her team has done all the best to accommodate me and provide the kindest support throughout the year. Definitely gonna miss this home-away-from-home and all good stuff happened in this lovely town ❤️

Lovely place to stay. Accommodation staff made a free breakfast for NHS staff once a month. Also the rooms were really nice with en suites and good social equipment (table tennis tables and board games)

It was a huge requirement for me to find somewhere I feel secure and the environment to feel like home. Upon my arrival and having stayed here during this academic year this requirement was absolutely fulfilled. The staff at the reception are incredibly accommodating and really lovely to interact with. I Will always treasure my time here at Kendrick and the wonderful memories created during my stay

Kendrick Hall is a good choice of student accommodation, my room and kitchen were all up to date with working appliances and all maintenance queries were sorted fairly quickly. The accommodation is about a 25 minute walk from the main campus which is okay when the weather is nice, otherwise it is only a quick ten minutes bus ride. The facilities available are good and staff often put on social events such as parties and breakfasts. The price is quite high for what you get, but the accommodation is more high quality than others in the area. I was very lucky to have amazing flatmates too which made my experience even better. Some negatives are that the flat was not very clean when I moved in, but this was due to exceptional circumstances and staff could not help it. The rooms on the top floors are also unbearably hot in the summer months, but nice and comfortable throughout autumn and winter. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would recommend Kendrick Hall to students in Reading! :)

Nice accommodation, staff are friendly and they organise a lot of events throughout the year to connect the students together! However, I wish we could have someone clean up the shared kitchen regularly like other student accommodations because I live with people I don’t know and they don’t follow the cleaning rotas that I have shared and pasted in the kitchen (guess I was unlucky that I got flatmates who are not as clean and responsible…). Other than that, it is actually a great accommodation at a convenient location between town and uni!

Overall, it has been a lovely experience so far living in Kendrick Hall. I've not heard of any other accommodation doing half of the things they do here so I feel very grateful to have got a room here. It's my first time staying in uni accommodation and I can't think of anywhere else that I'd rather stay. The staff are very friendly and make you feel very comfortable.

I’ve really enjoyed living at Kendrick, especially since my friends are also here. The free breakfasts and fry-day bingo are great ways to socialise with other students. I also made good use of the study areas, particularly during exam season. Kendrick is very close to the town centre and a 15/20 minute walk to uni, so it’s very convenient. My accommodation is like home and very cosy so staying here this year was great and I’m choosing to stay at Kendrick for my second year of uni as well. All the staff are very kind, welcoming and helpful too.

Kendrick Hall is the best accommodation in reading for a student. It has all the facilities a student would need. It is kept very clean and hosts many events such as free breakfast, bingo nights and various promotions. A very well rounded experience.

Really enjoy all the events, especially free breakfast! All the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. I make good use of the study area in the hub, which has been helpful for my studies. The town centre is also very easy to walk to.

Kendrick Hall is located in a very convenient location. Staffs are helpful and friendly. However, it could help with some routine cleaning services throughout the year. Moreover Tlrhe kitchen and rooms are not well cleaned upon arrival and some equipments are broken

I’m so surprised this accommodation came first, meaning other accommodations must have been so bad. Don’t waste time or money coming here. The only good thing about it is the location. Everything else is disorganised. Management don’t answer your problems till you literally scold them. The structure of the rooms are so horrible, when I first moved in it stunk so bad and was so dirty I had to clean it myself. There’s been several occasions where they have left students with no hot water to shower. Rooms and bathrooms are so tiny. There’s so much wrong with Kendrick. Go somewhere else

Been to 3 ‘well known’ student accoms in Reading since I came here in my foundation year, I am now in my 3rd year of Uni. I have to give a shoutout to Kendrick for actually giving a sh*t about students welfare, keeping the communal areas tidy and additionally provide 24/7 security and maintenance on standby… Anyways It’s been so long since I had a good ol’ all day breakfast due to the rising inflation, however Kendrick goes the extra mile to provide breakfast for a week once a month, so yeah it’s a solid 9/10 for me

Living at Kendrick Halls for the past three years has been an incredibly positive experience, one that I feel fortunate to have had. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warmth and professionalism that set the tone for my entire stay. All the staff members are very helpful especially Mrs Marilyn Carter which by her willingness to go above and beyond to help with whatever I needed has made my time here not just comfortable but also truly enjoyable.

Areas that the accomodation are in charge of cleaning clean are always 100% clean, they only reason it’s got a low score for me is due to other tenants not keeping the kitchen clean. However, every other aspect of living at Kendrick is lovely. They host unique events in the hub to liven up the social life and to get us connect, which I am extremely grateful for. The rooms are quite cozy and the perfect size to have my own space and not have too much to clean. If there are any issues, the staff ensure they are quick to amend them so we can go about our day without worrying.

Nice room and very welcoming staff, bike likely to get stolen however and it is a bit of a walk to uni and back everyday but does have an advantage of being much closer to town.

As student here on placement, the accommodation was arranged on my behalf and I couldn’t be happier with the facilities and the service I’ve received.

Kendrick Halls is a really good off-campus accommodation. Most importantly you get your own bathroom and certainly do not have to worry about the cleanliness of your flatmates when they use theirs. Although you, with your flatmates have to clean your kitchens yourself, it's still a very good accommodation with wonderful customer service. It's about 25 minutes from campus by foot ( which I don't mind) so my Spotify premium doesn't go to waste anyways. All in all an 8/10 accom, not by any fault of kendricks, but some flatmates aren't as clean as others so it's basically a gamble. If you are lucky enough to get clean flatmates, kendrick halls will be amazing. It's also just like 20 minutes from the town centre too, so you got that over on campus students!
