Rutland hall was the best experience of my life. What a cracking year. We all cried when we were given Rutland initially due to the bad reviews (hence trying to give a different view) but we were oh so wrong. Dear freshers - you will have the time of your life. Cannot recommend enough. Staff are lovely, right next to the gym and the bus stop - cannot ask for more. Really could not have asked for more. Rutland, you were a dream, all of our love x

It’s alright. ResX events get filled with the same loud friend group every time though and there’s not really any other way to meet people. I don’t know the people in the next corridor.
Hated my stay at Rutland Hall so bad I had to move out halfway through the year. I got put on a hall full of dudes so the toilets we had to share were always covered in pubes and showers would get blocked completely with the stuff. Pretty much every week the cleaners would have to clean vomit out of the carpeted hallways. Constant fire alarms from 11pm-6am because people would smoke in their rooms and the whole hall had to get up and wait anywhere from 10-30 mins for security to show up and turn it off. It went off 6 times in 5 days, all at night. My neighbour harassed me for 5 months, by turning on his speakers and pushing them up against my wall, and banging on my door all the time. He even got a bunch of his friends to wait in the corridor with him so they could all start an aurgument with me,cleaners were lovely but residential staff gave this dude 'a talking to' and he just carried on until I left. Somehow managed to harass the only trans person in halls 🤷♂️.
Enjoyable time in this hall, everything you need on campus! Really nice newly renovated rooms
pretty average hall, nothing special but nice enough and right next to the sports centre

Ok so food isn't an option here and that's a good thing because I'd have to give it 0 stars. The food is s***. Regardless, the actual hall life was great, I was close to the gym, couldn't complain about anything; I had a fantastic time.
The halls are amazing, defiantly the best halls that I have viewed. There very new and modern. The maintenance is excellent and every month there are cleaners that clean the common room, the hallways and the oven.
Commom room could be better and food is meh but i enjoyed my staf
Despite its reputation I have enjoyed my stay here. If I were to do it all over again I wouldn’t have gotten an ensuite as it is a waste of money as the shares bathrooms are fine.
Rutland is the absolute best! Of course I am biased but I genuinely do believe this- I've had a brilliant year! The corridors running around the quad rather than a block-system means that you aren't stuck within one block - you get to know so many more people, find friends most suited to you and don't feel obliged to stick with your neighbours, but of course you can if you want! The hall has unique external architecture with a beautiful octagonal library, quadrangle and a wooden-panelled dining hall (feels like Hogwarts)! Inside are a mix of shared bathrooms and en-suites. Unfortunately the bar isn't open that much but there are other bars a short stroll away on campus and it means there is another quiet space for study or events. The high number of students who attend hall events and applicants wanting to welcome next year's students in Rutland compared to other halls attests to the sense community, involvement and love for the halls that the students have here. Choose Rutland!
Good hall with a nice atmosphere
Poor food, cliquey atmosphere, expensive
Rutland is in a good spot on campus but needs to be renovated
Have made really good friends in Rutland. However, the food is not as good.
Snobby students, however generally friendly staff.
Although it is a fun rivalry with other halls, Rutland does not get anything back from winning snowflake, the JCR and Hall Managment does not seem to care enough.
Halls like Rutland are perfect for socialising as there's always people with similar interests to you, it is also great due to inter-hall rivalry and so forth, although the food isn't the best value for money and the bar is rarely open, the overall experience makes it worth it
