Cavendish was a really social accommodation in first year and it’s how I made some of my closest mates. I have rated the cleaning low as I was a fresher during covid so they didn’t provide a room cleaning service. But apart from that they cleaned the everywhere else every day!

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Please don’t waste your money here. I spent nearly a year in my room with a broken window so all the cold air was coming in and came back after a 7 week break at Christmas and it was still not fixed (they ‘missed it off the list’). I also had a broken toilet for a whole weekend, insects, quite poor food, room cleaning is only every month & for some wild reason they swapped brunch on a weekend for gym membership no one asked for. Huge waste of money.

Cavendish has a great social experience and is one big family. It is in a perfect place near a coop and the gym. Outside my window I am able to watch bunnies and ducks and squirrels. Very environmental friendly.
Cavendish is the best hall. Fact.
Best jcr of all the halls very sociable big family but internet is a bit slow and food is average at best
I stayed in the newer part of Cavendish, called Chatsworth House and I feel lucky I did as it was much more up to date and of a higher spec that some of the older buildings.
A great place to stay where I met a lot of friends with whom I am still in touch. Hall staff were particularly friendly.
Slightly older building. It's had some revamps now. But had amazing social life and amazing and lovely staff.
The food is terrible , pie themed nights are the worst. Cleaner comes every two weeks early in the morning so you have to leave your room. Everyone is loud every single night so lack of sleep is great.
Small room; with a very uncomfortable mattress which is given to you, en suite toilet is great, however despite complaints about noise; nothing is really done. I love having difficulties falling asleep and/or waking up at 3am in the morning with my neighbours shouting to each other and playing loud music on a weekday.
All ensuite but rooms are much smaller than in other halls because of this. Expensive for what you get as the food some nights is barely edible, we spend a lot on takeaways instead.
You wish you wish you wish you were in Cavendish
Cavendish is such a friendly and fun hall to be a part of! Pros: Lots of Ensuites, Catered, Lots of Events, Friendly People! Cons: Expensive, A little far away from main buildings on campus, wifi is always cutting out. Still, those things don't really make a difference ;)
s*** place 11/10 would not recommend
Loved living in Chatsworth in Cav!
Best year ever. Cavendish is pure quality.
I really detested staying in Cavendish Hall.
very overpriced for what you get. Catered however is the only way to go in notts, the self-catered aren't really included in the uni. Social experience in catered halls is fantastic
