My only complain during my stay was that they could've put a bigger bed in the large ensuites. I really loved the neighbourhood as it felt very safe and homely. The bus stand was close by to go to the university and city centre. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and always looked out for the students. Nice view on the 3rd/4th floors and very warm rooms as well. I had zero issues with any utilities or had anything break down.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Was missmarketed about the size of our beds our fridges barley worked the water pressure was horrible my chair broke on my first day because it was old and no one came to fix it then they overcharged for the chair in the deposit overall unless you had a care a massive waste of money.
It is in a very convenient location with keen management of property. It is a perfect accommodation in my opinion.

Thank you for a lovely review. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay.
No social rooms or community in Simpsons. The facilities are okay and staff are helpful, but there’s so much lacking for students mental health. You can’t really connect with anyone if there’s not a common room, considering Simpsons is rather far from the city centre it would make sense to have one.
We take your feedback on board and thank you for sharing your views. Please reach out to the university if you are struggling or require support with wellbeing.
amazing, great uni will deffo tell others
We are delighted you are having a brilliant experience at NTU and feel you are able to recommend other potential students to also choose NTU as their firm university. Thank you for the feedback.
Staff are friendly and cleaners are great
Thank you for taking time to leave a positive review. We will ensure the cleaners are aware their hard work does not go unnoticed.
This is a 100% accurate recollection of what it's been like to live at Simpsons Halls. - Problems that you report through the ancient app are never resolved. - Rooms are boiling hot all months of the year due to uninsulated pipes. - You are technically not a tenant, so have no rights or privacy, Staff will come into your room for whatever reason they wish while you're sleeping, showering, or on the toilet, and argue with you as if they aren't invading your privacy. - Staff will also leave the front door unlocked and love to lock you out of your own room if you forgot your keys in there. - Being blamed for things missing, even though they were missing in the first place and weren't reported so by them on the terrible inventory. - Staff have a massive attitude when you collect your packages, and can prevent you from doing so if their app isn't working, - Random repairs and maintenance that spans for 4 weeks during exam season, waking you up every day. See Google reviews for more.
for £145ppw, this was my experience. shower was filthy with water stains and rust marks that couldn't be cleaned. I also had a silverfish infestation due to all the cracks and cavities in the poor bathroom construction. our fridge freezer and oven both broke and had to be replaced, the cleaners are rude are so stingy with what they clean and what they don't. my radiator never worked throughout the entire year, however the pipes running through my room were boiling hot and the staff would not do anything about it. we were automatically blamed and almost charged for a rotting ceiling tile that came down during the night - baselessy claiming that we had 'punched' it. hourly paid staff are unhelpful and don't have adequate knowledge about certain things. the sofa in our kitchen had virtually been ripped apart and was missing a backrest cushion. the front gates were never closed so the security of simpsons was next to nothing.
half expensive (but i think everywhere is) my only problem is i'm at clifton so it's a bit far to go but easily accessible. Good place tho, quite big
The people made the accommodation so good, rooms were spacious, kitchens in the process of being updated and i was happy i lived here in 2020/2021
Although this is further out, it is brilliant value for money as you get an ensuite and relatively big rooms. The flats of 12 create a great way to make friends to ensure you find people you connect with.
Simpsons is honestly an excellent choice for my first year, and I will try to live here again for my second. I live in a flat of 11 (yes, that's a lot of people) but our kitchen is huge and fully renovated. It is a pleasure to spend time and cook there. My room is a large en-suite and all I could ask for. The neighbourhood is safe and beautiful, and I honestly prefer it over living in the center. Buses and shops are a 3-minute walk. Maintenance is really good and whenever something was wrong with my room, someone was there to fix it the same day. There are no common social spaces between flats and so the only way to socialize is outside or in each other's flat. However, it was still really social and every night there's a motive in someone's flat (even in covid). The only thing I hate is having to pay so much money for the washers/dryers. There are only 3 washers for the whole accommodation and I had to go wash early in the morning to find a washer available.
Amazing security and maintenance from Janet and her team! Also the best fresher reps and mingling between flats!
Wifi - good, don't worry about it Trek to uni, up hill. Will be a lot easier to skip classes. Good security
Excellent value for money but a little far out from the uni
The common room is lacking in space in my flat, the decor is old fashioned - not a big fan of the vivid blue carpet. The window locks make it hard to get enough air into the building and it is often too hot. We told the building management this and they told us 'it's not too hot', well, I think the client is the important one when determining the temperature. There have been multiple wasp invasions also, which is pretty unsafe as a housemate of mine was stung on her first day. My room was dusty and dirty upon entry, I actually sat down and got quite upset about how it looked. The building needs a fair bit of work, especially for £155 a week, but the location is quite good.
better than I expected it to be. you do get your moneys worth considering most of the other accommodation in Nottingham is expensive
It's in a lively student area so there's lots of shops etc around and very good transport links however I wouldn't consider it good value for money because the furniture is very basic, some kitchens are very small and it is not very well maintained; washing machines constantly break and a lot of the block doors are loose, making it easy for people not in your block to get in.
I wouldn't really recommend, there is a lot better accommodation for the same price and in a better location! Simpsons is a bit run down
Although simpsons halls is further away from campus compared to other halls, it was a great place to spend my first year at university. The social part was perfect, and the rooms were good for the price. With a £1 bus ride straight to campus, simpsons halls will offer a great first year experience! The only downside will be that there is no common room - although by making friends around the blocks, there's no reason why you can't hang out, watch TV or play games in your communal kitchen!
