I am having a fantastic time here... The tap broke and the whole thing was replaced within 24hours. I think the only down side to this is obviously Covid stunted my social experience but the potential is wicked. The only down side is that the fire alarms go off at 9am every Tuesday... The halls nearest shop is Co-op at 10mins away and has all the stuff you need really. Though it's a 40min walk to Aldi for more cheaper stuff (like 30p chocolate)
Old school but a great community.
Constance Stewart hall is a fab place to live , I found it really nice. Though I'd bring earplugs because it is the student hub (apart from the student union bar)
I don’t stay on campus but I know from others they enjoy it
Don't get toilet roll on a weekend! Kitchen was friendly, when sharing with 6, at least it's close to the uni and the cleaner cleaned throughly on weekdays
It was old and many kitchen appliances weren't fully working. The people who worked there were nice and the bedroom and bathrooms were in good condition.
When I was told I was moving into these halls, it sounded great. However, the experience did not live up to my fantasies. The social areas were, for lack of a better word, "s***". The sofas were hard and very uncomfortable, and the shelving around the TV was really old and full of dust. It was not big enough for the amount of people that lived on the floor. Yes there were two 'communal' rooms, but only one of them had actual seating, the other was just a large kitchen with a TV in. The cleaners were incredibly nice though, and made an effort to know people's names and become sort of friends with us. One of them helped with some really heavy shopping I got once, just as she was leaving, which was incredibly nice. Overall, The wifi was bad, got better whilst we were here, the cleaners were amazing, the rooms were great (all double beds!) and having 33 people on one floor let you get to know people really quickly! :D ...Just bring earplugs for godssake.
Had the time of my life living there
Apart from the washing maching being out of order for half a year and an incredibly loud and inconsiderate neighbour, I've really enjoyed living in halls!
The space in the rooms was great, and the social areas were just what you need. The shared facilities were always kept clean by the housekeeping staff, who were also very friendly. The internet was temperamental but I hear they have fixed that now.
It's been good here. Much better than my previous accommodation. The people are nice though there is a small noise issue.
enjoying it, full of really good people, and making some really good memories
More common spaces would be appreciated - I lived on the first floor and the boys just completely took over the common room and I didn't feel comfortable going in it anymore. The Internet was a problem when I lived there however I understand this has been fixed.
I love living here as its like one massive flat so there's always someone around so you won't get lonely. On the other hand, getting alone time isn't hard as all bedrooms lock :)
Connies is the best floor in BG. We are all a big family and look out for one another. I don't think there is another halls like it !
Wasn't easy to avoid people you don't get on with when half the building has access to the main floor, too many people wandering up and down the hall at all times of the night to get a good nights sleep and constantly had problems with the wifi. Had issues with food and kitchen things being stolen too as there are no locks in the kitchens. Being right on campus was always a plus though and cleaning/maintenance staff were always nice and got problems sorted quickly, even if something happened late at night or early in the morning. Most of the rooms were a good size for the price as well.
I lived in Connies 2012/13 when it had one kitchen per corridor but it has been newly refurbished since then and more large kitchens and common areas have been added. Double beds with shared facilities and a fantastic social experience. The cleaning staff are the loveliest people. Only downfall is the internet which is to be replaced Christmas 2015 anyway.
AB Internet Wifi is not the best, but the actual halls are lovely
On a floor of 33 girls there is only one communal kitchen which is quite small. The internet is awful.
Good place to live, not enough plug sockets and can hear everything from floors above. still best place it live, so much fun
Good location but the wi-fi isn't the best. Cleaner (Julie) is amazing. Overall a nice accommodation that is on-campus.
Halls was a fantastic experience when starting in first year. The value I got got my money was good, all areas were clean and there was always a porter on call if they was any trouble. Location was fantastic as it was just on campus and only a short walk from town. The social experience was fantastic but not 100% but that's just down to normal social experiences and the Wifi was not the best at all.
Connies is so sociable and it's kept really well
Felt lonely due to lack of closeness with other residents. More like a hotel. Only social space is the kitchen so we had to spend all of our time in eachothers bedrooms
Applied for a different hall but got constance stewart instead, then visited the first one i applied for. Glad i got constance stewart in the end.
Only issue really is the dodgy wifi which frustrates us all in halls at BG!!! Lovely sized rooms, we share bathrooms and kitchens so it's very sociable at dinner time
