St James is located in the vibrant area of Glasgow and is a short walk from local universities. When looking to get out and about, residents can explore the many bars, cafes, and restaurants that flood the area.
You can skip your gym membership as St James is equipped with an onsite gym and yoga room. Students can enjoy monthly social events and spaces, such as communal lounges, gaming areas, and cinema rooms. For your benefit, there are study rooms, Wi-Fi, all-inclusive bills, laundry rooms, and bike storage. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, there is 24-hour CCTV and onsite maintenance and housekeeping.

I can only advise anyone not to sign a tenancy agreement with Abodus Student Living. During the winter months of December and January 2023/24, the heating broke down extensively, leaving me with only a portable heater, which I had to pay for myself. Despite the poor service, there was no reduction in rent. After two weeks of back and forth, I was offered an upgrade to a studio in a higher price category. Initially, I was expected to pay the higher rent, even though the heating in my old studio was broken. After complaining to the Abodus management, I was given the upgrade free of charge. The heating in my new studio worked perfectly from mid-February to the end of May. Then, from the end of May/beginning of June, it broke down again, making heating impossible. The emergency is not as serious as in winter. But it's annoying when the room cools to 20 degrees at night, and you have to heat it up to 23 degrees the next morning because the heating isn't working again. Having to reheat the r

I love the place, however it's well known the automatic buttons for the front doors are iffy and it's not been fixed? Staff always help me out when they don't open though, they're absolutely lovely.

Easily the nicest place to stay as a Strathclyde student, with plenty of space and close to everything I need to have. Facilities are great to hang out with mates and cleanliness is top-notch. A lot to desire for the price as this is almost the most expensive uni accom in Glasgow.

Very good location but had issues with hot water and heating. Took many complaints and 4 months to rectify which isn’t ideal considering the price

I've stayed in St James since first year, currently third year, and I am planning on continuing my stay until I graduate. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The classic ensuite rooms are a good size and the bed is comfy. The desk is large and there is enough wardrobe and storage space within the room. The ensuite bathroom is a perfect size. The shared kitchens provide a social space and apt cooking facilities. The social spaces around the building are good, especially the cinema room. It is the perfect distance from classes and the library, incredibly easy to roll out of bed and straight into class! I wouldn't consider living anywhere else!

i love living here - there’s great social and community scene with lots of community events for residents and shared spaces. the team are lovely and so helpful. the rooms and shared living spaces themselves are great and spacious.

I’ve stayed here for about a year now and the staff is so extremely helpful! The common areas and clean and usable, while the rooms are quiet and have a very nice layout. Everything is within walking distance!

It’s a good place to live, very practical and near GCU, strath and city of glasgow college, as well as all the main shopping streets, train stations and the bus station. Very well located and building is a good layout, nice bedrooms, kitchen nice as long as flatmates don’t make a mess and maintenance issues are usually dealt with fast, not always. Price keeps going up each year and it’s becoming unreasonably unaffordable as nothing about the building is changing but has gone up a couple thousand this year and three thousand next year? Washing prices have also gone up, so with this and rent pricing makes it hard to budget as student loans aren’t high enough to cover.

Great location if you're a Strathclyde student - the library and sports centre are directly opposite! It's also an easy walk to the rest of the campus, as well as the city centre. Studio flats are a good size and well appointed, with fast wifi. I rarely hear my neighbours, although I am in the back corner of the building so not a high traffic area. The staff are exceptional - really lovely and prompt at responding to any issues, however minor. They've really made me feel at home since I've been here! Highly recommend to anyone studying at Strathclyde.

Great place to live, good location. Staff are lovely and helpful. Maintenance issues dealt with quickly, strong WiFi. Fun student events where you can meet people. Can be noisy outside on courtyard side but don't hear flatmates so quiet in that respect.

when I first got here two years ago I was supposed to live in a studio that was on the first level, it was very cold as the door wouldn't close enough and the wind would come through. the fridge was frozen and as well would not close. there was a huge dark red stain on the floor. the studio was a lot smaller than excepted. My mum had to speak with the reception and ask them repeatedly to change my room because the one they assigned me to was not worth £172 /week. in the end, I got a new studio which is bigger and there are no problems with the cold, but the window, however, opens on the inside, three fingers wide, so there is almost no air inside. Overall, I would recommend a shared flat outside Athena Hall, because it is cheaper and has more space and facilities than this accommodation.
