Unite Students reception team always fabulous — friendly, trustworthy, funny 😁 Love to work with them in all sorts of event and a huge contributing factor to the events in Salisbury. Improvements I wish to see: - the common room with a more unified space, promoting better room usage for events and social activities. Right now the common room seems to segregated and feels abandoned when no one is using them. - less frequency of fire alarms. Currently I have been through 2-3 fire alarms per week at most. Would have been better if there were once every two months. - Value for price and room is considered expensive, especially since it’s a 10 people flat and there is not enough space, cupboard, living room to actually use without bumping into each other. - many maintenance issues occur throughout the year due to the wear and tear period of the items in the flat e.g. oven, hob/stove, fridge, lighting, window ledges, etc. - plumbing issues occurs every half a month.

Salisbury Court Biography
Salisbury Court is ideally located just a ten-minute walk from the University of Edinburgh. The area surrounding the accommodation has everything you need, from various shops to many bars and restaurants.
There is a large common room that has a games area with a pool table, ping pong, foosball, lounge area, and micro-cinema. The large communal study area and WiFi are ideal for when you need a quiet space to get work done. You also have access to a big outdoor social space to enjoy the good weather.
You have the option of staying in an en-suite room whilst sharing a kitchen and lounge with flatmates, or you can choose to stay in a studio. The rooms have a light and contemporary design and are equipped with a comfortable bed, storage space, and study desk and chair.

Thank you for your enquiry. I can confirm the twin studio via the University of Edinburgh's booking page is the one visible on our website. There is a desk per resident, so you would not need to share the desk, although the room space, kitchen and bathroom would be shared.
In regards to the mix of flatmates, you would need to enquire with the university as to their occupancy planning. They will be able to advise further on mix within flats and take into account your needs where possible.

Does the kitchen have any utensils or are you expected to bring your own utensils, cutlery, and any other kitchen gadgets. Also, do the en suite rooms provide a pillow for the students?

Hello! We do not provide kitchen utensils/cutlery etc, or bedding. There are a number of companies where you can purchase 'kit out' packs which will have all of the essential items you need, which can be delivered directly to your accommodation around your check in date. It may be worth reaching out to your university for more information, as they often will work in partnership with companies who provide these.

If you have booked through the University of Edinburgh, we will assist weekly with light cleaning of the kitchen and advice on maintaining your shared space. It is the responsibility of the tenant to clean their own bedroom and bathroom.

Really nice student accommodation with lovely staff that are always happy to help with any issues. Problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately the study room only has either tall tables or low coffee table styles available, which means that as a disabled student I can’t use this room. If they replaced the tall tables with normal height ones it would be perfect.

We will certainly consider how we can improve the common areas. In terms of fire alarms, I'm afraid this is not directly within our control. We have an obligation to detect and attend any activations of the fire system, even in the event of a false alarm. We can however, work to educate residents on how to avoid triggering alarms, which we will take into consideration when there are an excess of activations. Maintenance tasks can be frustrating, however, our response to tasks is usually quick and we have a number of maintenance checks throughout the year to try to avoid recurring issues. They are all so nice here. I got a pizza delivered, and the delivery person couldn’t call me, so they came and delivered my pizza. They all know my name and ask how i’m doing, and i don’t think i could ask for more.

The staff are very kind in medical emergencies, and it’s in a good location, but otherwise the residents aren’t sociable, the flats are isolating with such big groups, and it’s overall quite an uninviting place to be.

On a whole, an incredibly well managed accommodation complex. The pool table provides great entertainment. The maintenance is always speedy with requests getting fixed within days. The laundry room is expensive and is often packed and hard to get a free washer. A member of staff who deserves great praise is our flat cleaner David. He’s always kind when he comes and does a great job at cleaning. An all around pleasure to deal with.

Very accomodating and a great living experience as a student. Love the ease of using certain services, such as maitenance requests on the app. Wifi could work better, sometimes it blocks the school website.

Best accommodation for students at main campus
I studied at UoE for a semester through the exchange program and decided on staying in Salisbury Court strictly because I would have my own room/bathroom. I was put in a 10 person mixed flat. Here is my experience: I love how large the windows and desks are, there's storage under the bed and a closet. I had to go out and buy bedding for myself (which I later found I could have rented from management after having been told I couldn't). The common room in the flat has hobs/ovens, the world's smallest microwave, sinks, cupboards, and a kettle. My real issues with this accommodation are the bed and internet. If you enjoy feeling each and every spring of your bed jabbing into your body the whole night then you will love these beds. I started waking up bruised because of it and finally flipped the mattress over. I now sleep on a very hard surface but it's better than death by springs. Also, the internet constantly is shutting on and off in my room, specifically on my phone. Not good.
The common room areas are good but not really used, the cleaners are getting kind of lazy not really cleaning. Really close to campus, 10 min walk and close to Sainsbury's and Pollock so its easy to meet people.
