I have been staying here for three months now and like it a lot. The location is very central, both to Edinburgh’s old town and to the campus. It’s only a short walk to campus and the library. The rooms are affordable and high quality. We share a kitchen-lounge which makes for friendly moments. Carla and Taylor might be busy on their sister residence but will always reply shortly by email or phone and Robert will come in no time to fix what needs to be fixed. It is a very lively residence with a lot of events planned to make us feel less alone. I would definitely recommend it !

Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Spent the best time of my life here. So it’s either A. I was an extremely boring person before, or B. This place is simply amazing in every way. I prefer B tho.

It's a great place to live for a student. The location is unbeatable, and though it can get noisy at night, you get used to it. The staff are friendly, and you will feel comfortable staying here

Great place to live within walking distance of the main campus and lots of places for doing general shopping. Public transport options are also really close by. The maintenance and reception people are all really nice and friendly and the amenities offered are really great.

Very functional student accommodation boasting a strategic location in the heart of the city's student area, especially close to both the George Sq UoE campus and the Pleasance gym. The staff are professional, friendly and available. The flats are well furnished (even a dishwasher is provided), and the studio apartments are recommended in particular.

I’ve been living at 200 Cowgate for a while now, this place is top-notch! The service from Taylor, Carla, and Robert is so outstanding it’s almost like they’ve made it their personal mission to ensure my happiness. I have lived at 200 Cowgate for the past three years. And since I am leaving this year, I would like to commemorate this occasion with a review 😂. The location really is amazing. It’s literally in the middle of everything. And while I’m happy that I’m finally moving to somewhere quieter and calmer (yes, it's insanely loud here at night and packed during the Fringe), I’ll definitely miss the days of being able to wake up 25 minutes before a class and the nights of stumbling from La Belle Angele into the comfort of my bed all in the span of 5 minutes. The property team has been amazing, helpful, and extremely friendly. I want to give a big shoutout to John, Taylor, and Carla who have been nothing but great and helpful and have made my stay here comfortable. And an extra special thanks to Carla who was always patient and kind and went out of her way to help me. Would recommend 200 Cowgate to any postgrad students coming to study in Edinburgh!

The staff really helpful and kind. The location is very central. There’s many cafes, pubs, restaurants and clubs nearby which is great for students. The kitchen is quite nice. It gets busy during the summer because most of the fringe shows are nearby.

Living in 200 Cowgate is wonderful since the location is good and it’s convenient to do almost everything: near to the Royal Mile, near to the university, and lots of stores nearby. There is free breakfast every month and the staff are all warm and kind.

Really the absolute best in terms of location. Waverley station is a 7 min walk away which is amazing for me because I have many peripheral placements. It makes travelling much easier and more convenient. There is also a bus stop 3 min away with easy access to multiple buses. It’s located less than a 10 minute walk away from Pleasance gym as well as grocery stores such as Lidl and Tesco. It’s also not too far from the meadows while still being near Prince’s street. I was a little scared at first because it’s right in the centre of a bar street. However, I’ve grown to like the liveliness of the place at night. My windows are double glazed so I cannot hear a thing once I’m in my room. All in all, no regrets here!! I’ve grown to love living here :)

The staff are so lovely and really helpful - they really make you feel like you’re at home. The central location is amazing as well and the fact that it’s only a short walk away makes going into uni so much easier! There’s loads of cafes, pubs, restaurants and clubs really close by so you get a great feel for the city. It feels really safe and secure. The rooms are really nice and have plenty of storage as well.

Student accommodation is located just 10 minutes from the central area of the University of Edinburgh. The management team is very friendly and helpful. Internet is very fast and I have not had any problems with it.

I had a fantastic experience staying at this accommodation. The location is incredibly convenient, especially for students like me who need to be close to the university. You'll never have to worry about being late to class since it's just a stone's throw away. The staff at this place are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the soundproofing. Despite being located near a lively street with bars, the room becomes a peaceful sanctuary when you close the windows at night. It's like your own quiet oasis. Another perk is the affordability of the washing machine. Laundry is a breeze with such reasonable prices. The kitchen here is a real gem - spacious and well-equipped. The stove works like a charm, making cooking a pleasure. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommended!

A bit overpriced for the quality of housing, room size, and amenities you get. Main issue is constant fire alarms going off - smoke alarms seem to be too sensitive and staff doesn’t seem to know how to resolve the issue, because all of these instances have been false alarms. Location is great, but a bit loud at night due to being a prime location for clubbing (not the property’s fault). For the most part, staff are friendly, helpful, and responsive.

The property has a good location, which gives students easy access to both university campus and amenities in the town. Highly recommend the accomdation to any freshers who would like a well located property within a good budget
It’s a nice place to live in, the staff here are really warm and kind. The location is also perfect for shopping and eating. And It’s close to my school. Anyway, perfect!

Indeed one of the main points of staying at 200 Cowgate is it's extraordinary location, with the main University of Edinburgh campus a short 7 minutes walk and we are right in the heart of the city. That being said, there is a vibrant atmosphere in the area, in particular on weekends, however all the rooms have double windows, it is very effective to block the noise.
I’ve had an overall good experience, there’s good space in my room, getting things fixed is easy communication and the location is perfect. I do wish the reception was open 24/7.
