The residence is 7/10 overall. For me what makes it great is the location which it only takes about 5 mins for me to walk from my residence to my class and besides that, the service provided by the residence is also great, which the washroom is cleaned once in two weeks by a vendor selected by the university and also the residence team works so fast. Just three days ago I emailed to make a complaint about my drainage that didn’t function really well that water took so long to recede, and just a few hours later the team came to check and fix it. I was so grateful. However, the downside is the cleanliness of the kitchen is so bad, it is a communal kitchen which is used by so many people from all around the world which I understand that the standard of cleanliness is different for one another but for me it is just so dirty that sometimes sink is full of food. That is all that I can share. I hope I win. Thank you.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Small kitchen. Unsatisfied with the size. No chairs too in the kitchen.
It is okay for what we pay but could be better
Very unclean dormitory. Cleaners don't ensure good standard of cleaning. There's no social space. No breathing space. Too many students in one hall. The campus location however is breathtaking
Incredible nice halls, double beds and weekly cleaning people. With daily hoovering. For posh with glass walls.
Best times to be had at Robert Bryson Halls. AMAZING building when I stayed there as a fresher. Room 343 will always be close to my heart. The layout of this building is very open so you can meet with friends in different parts of the building easily. Most of the time everyone hangs out in the corridors and each others kitchens. Its common for people to leave there doors open while they are in. The halls have a super friendly environment. These halls are old! The windows are very dirty and the showers have bad pressure. Beds aren't great either. This was not an issue as every night was a sesh night and soon you got used to prison, I mean halls, conditions. If you are a fresher going to Heriot-Watt you need to stay here before they demolish it. This hall is known as the PARTY HALL and for good reason! !!ROBERT BRYSON FOR LIFE!!

Been renovated and overall a good place to study since it's far from the city
Showers always randomly scold you with boiling hot water then transitioning to freezing cold... WiFi maintains a stable 100Mbps up and down, sometimes dying out but not too frequent. Usually happens once or twice a month for 30 minutes. Phone signal is non-existent within the building. It's trash. If you have wificall you're fine. If not, good luck you won't be able to call in your own room (checked with everybody in the building)... Summary: Place is trash for the price they advertise at. Don't recommend
This is the best hall!!!! Come visit me in room F18 at any time. Especially if you are a cute boy.
Student accommodation is always shady especially when you opt for cheap. Out of town was a bit dull though.
Old building so things like Windows don't open without a fight, bins no where near the halls and the cleaners just dump the bin bags in the middle of the kitchen floor. There is one room for 70 people to use which is no where near big enough. Door keys can snap in the door during winter and you have to pay for a replacement even though the door broke it. WiFi is very temperamental but is ok when it works.
- Old buildings - Tiny rooms - You can't really open the windows - Rooms are very very warm and you cannot control the temperature - Depressing campus around - Kitchens are yack with ridiculous facilities - One toilet shower for 5 people ridiculous price for what you get - remote Uni and no supermarkets close by
The halls are quite difficult to socialise in because there is only one lounge for 4 floors. Autolocking doors means that students are frequently locked out of rooms, and after three times it results in a fine from the wardens (who threaten fines quite a lot). There was loads of mould in my bathroom when I arrived and the water pressure in the shower was pretty poor. There are lots of good things and bad things about living in halls, although RB is probably below par, I'd still live there if I was to do first year again.
Leonard Horner halls are definitely the best halls on campus. Least expensive and they are close to everything, from student union to bus stops and main building. Sure, you share a toilet room and shower room but that's between 3 other people. You barely notice. Everyone in Leonard Horner pretty much becomes friends fairly quickly because it's just so easy, especially with the lounges.
Close to lectures and the layout (not in flats) makes it very sociable and easy to make friends as a fresher!
Sounds proof very bad No private toilet Kitchen and room is small and old Bed too soft Cp value pretty low, so expensive
Really expensive for what you get. Plus the cleaners were ruthless at getting you out of your room, but they were nice in our halls. Really close to uni and the wardens were pretty cool.
This is a bog standard uni hall
George Burnett is a reasonable establishment, A breeding ground for thumpin chuns and class nights out.
S*** value for money but cheaper than most private accommodation and a 5 minute walk to lecture although way out of town
Out of the way and quite expensive but great banter.
The quality of the hall was poor but I had a great year!
Really nice rooms and kitchens (with half decent flatmates!) halls too far from anything l like union and lectures really, avoid flats of 12. Sofas>breakfast bar
Good halls had a great first year experience
Pantry situation for A block is appalling - 70 students sharing 2 pantries, food going missing all the time. Not even allowed a toaster - why??? Staff offer no sympathy for this Cleaners made a mess of my room one night when I was away - with no explanation. Dumped a bucket of something down my sink and toilet. A block do not have access to a lounge, even their own, takes priority for 'conferences'. Only pro is the ensuite with glass cabinet shower. Want good value for money? Go IQ or mansion.
