Hub Students Dundee Biography
Hub Students Dundee is under new management as of January 2025! It is perfectly located just a stone's throw away from the city centre giving residents access to a variety of shops and restaurants. The University of Dundee and Abertay University are also just a short distance from the building, meaning you never have to worry about being late for lectures.
Get to know your flatmates by making use of the social spaces which include a lounge area, dining area and breakfast bar. For resident's added convenience there is a vending machine, parking, laundry room, bicycle storage and WiFi. Stay stress-free knowing there is CCTV, secure entry, all-inclusive bills, onsite maintenance and a support team to help you with anything you may need.

What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

I enjoyed moving into the Hub Dundee. Move in day was extremely well thought out and supported me and my family throughout the day. I however don't feel the safest with the security as we used to have a security guard but he is no longer here and a marketing research agency managed to get in without permission which wasn't ideal. I overall have so far enjoyed staying at the hub but would prefer better security to the building and people that stay over the weekend in reception instead of only Monday to Friday.

I'll just answer the points raised on security, we are a secure site with fob access block doors with additional fob access gates etc which are currently being upgraded. There was a market researcher on site that was let in by residents and then given access by residents to theoir flats. Once we were notified everyone was notified not to let people in the blocks and the company in question was contacted and informed not to try and speak with anyone. This was the middle of the day and out of our control as was let in without our knowledge by a resident. If you wish to discuss more please pop down to the office.
The Hub is honestly one of the best student accommodations you can possibly live at! It's located in the perfect area, super close to Tesco Express, Lidl, the city centre and many renowned cafes and restaurants. Its also super close to Halal butchers and Indian/Chinese grocery stores! Jamie and Luke, the managers, are literally the kindest and the sweetest people ever, they always welcome us with a smile. Whatever issues you might have, they solve it in a couple of minutes. If something is broken, they send the management/maintenance guys over in a jiffy! They even fought to reduce the laundry prices for the students. They really do care a lot! If anyone wants to start their university accommodation journey, I think The Hub is the best place for them:))

My accommodation has been an incredible part of my university experience, not only providing a comfortable space to live but also helping me form lifelong friendships. The shared spaces and relaxed atmosphere made it easy to connect with people from different backgrounds, and now we’re all close friends. One of the standout features is how the management makes laundry prices affordable, ensuring that everyone has access to essential services without the stress of high costs. Plus, the location is very good it’s just a short walk to campus, and there’s a convenient bus stop nearby for easy access to my placement.

Very good value for money - especially when considering they won’t be raising their prices next year and they are no longer with circuit laundry so laundry is cheap too. Also very good location, only things I would change is the WiFi is a bit slow sometimes but perfectly fine for all your schoolwork and streaming etc so not a big issue at all. Overall very satisfied with the hub accommodation.

Overall this accommodation is the best on offer at Dundee, I have been placed with lovely roommates and my pairing form for flatmates was well considered. I am happy here and enjoy living just across the road from the university which makes it handy for late night library trips as i feel safer just needing to walk across the road to get home.

Really great place to stay as a first year moving away from home for the first time. Its like a home away from home!! Even the cheapest rooms are spacious en-suite and include a double bed. Packages are received by reception who are always so lovely and helpful.

I've had a good experience with the Hub but £664 is too much money for a struggling student.
Hi, thank you for your review. We review our rents annually and have decided not to raise them like other accommodation in the city, the price includes all bills so nothing extra. We are one of the more affordable student halls and aim to remain that way. Great to hear you have had a good experiance with us!
It's reasonable for what I'm paying, haven't had any major issues such as flooding or insects. Common room is a nice place to relax and laundry services stay running and clean. The reception and staff are all very friendly and nice when you speak to them. However there are a few things that weren't up to par on arrival which have unfortunately just stayed that way no matter how many times we inform staff, e.g. TV not working, vacuum stinking, freezer shelfs being broken, TV remotes being covered in something sticky, etc. Overall, it's good student accommodation and I would renew my lease

The security is abysmal, the doors are left wide open so anyone can walk in. Very dangerous.
Hi, We have just had new lighter gates fitted and unfortunataly our contractor is waiting on parts to complete the key fob acccess. (wont be long) all block/flat doors are working as they should so secure, many student accommodations dont have the added security we have.
I love it- second year here and defo booking for a third year. Management is very nice. Very clean and o lecture for its purpose. Maintenance is fixed fast and they are very understanding. Laundry prices are relevant and good

Living the Hub has been nothing short of amazing! From the moment I moved in, I was warmly welcomed with a package that had bites and essentials. Jamie and team are always responsive, friendly, and genuinely care about the well-being of residents. The cleanliness of the blocks is impeccable—common areas, hallways, and facilities are maintained to the highest standard. I also enjoy the pool, pingpong, chess and other games provided by the management. The internet service is top-tier, with fast and reliable connectivity that makes online classes, research, and streaming a breeze—no frustrating lags or dropouts! One of the biggest highlights is the affordability. The rates are really fair (al bills inclusive) considering the ensuite rooms and location. You truly get incredible value for your money. Its just 5 mins walk to the university lecture halls. Lidil (0.2 mile) and tesco (0.1 mile) away from the Hub Overall, the Hub Dundee a great choice for student accommodations in dundee.

Great accomodation. The reasons are 1. Affordable price 2. Friendly staff 3. Nice common room with pool, table tennis and darts. 4. Great wifi connection which makes me forget about freezes. And so much more. The only con I can find is that near the dumpsters it can be dirty sometimes. Overall a solid 8/10

In my experience, staying at the hub in Dundee has been really good. It very close to the University of Dundee, easy to contact the landlord about any issues that I may have. Would recommend to future students to live here while studying in Dundee.

The staff are always very helpful and quick, social spaces are clean tidy and well kept. Washing prices are going down to a good price soon, the space given is fairly reasonable. The place was not clean when I moved in, however after a day of cleaning it is reasonably nice. The location is very good, directly next to the campus, near shops, food places, bars pubs whatever it is you could want.

Like staying at travelodge to be honest. kitchen/living area is a bit small compared to other accommodation but thats due to the lower number of people you share the flat with. bedroom is also slightly smaller but you do get an actual bathroom! the Hub doesn't supply stuff like ironing boards and kettles but you do get some cleaning supplies. As for location I'd say its really convenient because its near the uni and Lidl, but its in the ugliest dodgiest street ever. the staff are lovely though!

The new management is great since they've formed their own group. One of the most affordable student accomodations and what you get is good! Maintenance is very fast with any issues, and the rooms are nice as well.

This is my first time living in the hub and I think it’s great, the staff are very fast to act when there is a problem. The common room is really nice for socialising and has some really great things to do.

I have been allocated and living with friends from diversed countries such as Iran, Parkistan, Uganda, Scotland and France. All of us not just learn about eaxh other culture but also be lovely friends that's so great. Besides the accomodation is in campus ao close the city centre, gym and buildings where i study that is what i love about Dundee uni and their accomodation.
