Heathfield offers an ideal experience exclusively for University of Dundee students as the residence is located directly on campus! Getting to classes couldn’t be easier, and on top of this, the city centre is within easy walking distance, which is bursting with shops, bars, clubs and restaurants.
Living on campus gives you direct access to its many amenities, with the University sports hall, tennis courts, swimming pool, main Library, and students association all right on your doorstep. The all-inclusive bills encompass broadband and Wi-Fi throughout, on-site security and CCTV, and 24-hour caretaker and maintenance support. There are also handy on-site laundry facilities for you to use.
Heathfield offers single en-suite rooms within 6 bedroom flats. The apartments have a fully kitted kitchen and a cosy seating area. Each room has its own en-suite facilities, small double bed, study area and ample storage space.

Hi The showers at Heathfield are fixed shower heads so I do not think you would be able to buy a filter for these.

Hi yes it is warm inside the accommodation and there are radiators in every bedroom and lounge area. We have a lot of international students from warmer countries who never complain that it is cold. Hope this helps! :)

My son is a medical student .ovi g from St Andrews to Dundee. Although it will be his first year in Dundee he joins 3rd year of the medical degree and will have graduated from St Andrews. Would he be eligible for accommodation at Heathfield?

Thank you for your question. Allocations are managed by the University of Dundee, however they have advised the following:
While we are still planning for September 2024, entrant students beginning their first year of study at the University of Dundee are typically guaranteed one offer of accommodation provided they apply by the relevant deadline date for that year. These dates are still to be decided for 2024/25.

Continuing students can apply for accommodation with us but we are unable to guarantee them an offer of accommodation.
Please be aware that priority for University accommodation is given to entrant students beginning their first year of study at Dundee, and therefore places for current students may not be known until September of any given year (though we would let you know as soon as possible).

For Session 2021 - 2022 - there is an approx. 50/50 split between post grads and undergrads. The University tries where possible to allocate post grads and under grads into different blocks.

not enough spaces at the accommodation to get to know residents better
Thank you for taking time to leave a review. Whilst there is no Common Room for the Heathfield residents, each flat has a large communal space in the Kitchen and Lounge. Heathfield is also located right on campus next to SPAH main building and DUSA making it so central to socialise with other residents and students.
I get no natural light in my room :(
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry that you feel you get no natural light in your room. The residences are located in conservation areas which limit the ability to remove trees that may be impacting light into some of the rooms. We are working with the University Botanical Gardens who manage the grounds on a strategy to manage the bushes and hedging that surround the properties without impacting the aesthetics of the grounds.

Do not book accommodation there! There are much nicer and cheaper options in Dundee. Except for the location which is very central, nothing is worth your money in these accommodation. The shared space is filthy and way too small to share with 5 other people. I am an international postgraduate student and I trusted the University when they recommended I didn’t look for private accommodation and instead went with the ones provided by the University. I realized that this was a HUGE mistake as soon as I saw the flat in person but they told me it was too late to cancel. I tried everything to get out of this contract so I coule find a more suitable accommodation, even offering that they keep my 1000GBP deposit, and they said no. I am usually not a person to write reviews but this has been such a bad experience that I want to share. I strongly recommend you find somewhere else to live during your studies!!

We work really hard to provide all of our students with a positive experience and passed your feedback to the University who advised that the University of Dundee Terms and Conditions are really clear when you apply and accept University Accommodation, and are no different from any other University or Private Purpose Built Student Accommodation. The size of the rooms and shared spaces exceed UK legislation for the number of students sharing the communal areas. Photos of the shared spaces are available on the University and Sanctuary Students websites. The University of Dundee respects resident’s consumer rights and provides extra protection for new students by giving then additional rights to cancel prior to taking up residency. Your concerns over cleanliness in the shared spaces were unfounded as the kitchen and lounge areas were checked following your complaint and were in a perfectly acceptable condition for a shared space where residents had already moved in prior to your arrival. The rooms had been deep cleaned the previous week prior to the main student arrival weekend. Although not obliged to, following your complaint, the University offered to move you to a smaller 4 person alternative accommodation which you subsequently moved to
Generally, I agreed that Heathfield is a lovely, safe and convenient place for every student and I left many sweet memories. But, the rental cost is too expensive and need to re-think for long term. Finally, I decided to move out to private accommodation to cut the cost of living in Scotland.

Happy in my Cozy Space! Heathfield stands true on expectations. I'm liking my accommodation so much because it's super secure with three gate security, close to City Centre and Nethergate cafes. It has got an amazing wifi facility in here which helps me to watch and study anytime. Cozy heating and a good room view is the exciting part of everyday student life.

Overall Heathfield is a good accommodation. The closeness to campus as well as grocery stores and the mall cannot be undervalued. For what we pay however, more amenities could be provided to us. Free gym membership or free access to the pool. Provide us with a toaster. Small things like that.

I remember I entered in my flat early before any of my roommates to arrive, but trust me i haven't felt unsafe. This university property is so secured as well is kept very clean. Apart from this, I can get groceries and cafe's are situated so close to my place. And an assistance required is provided so soon. It is totally worth every penny. Also, cherry on the cake is that you won't be late for your classes :)

While many of my peers were complaining about their accommodation or were afraid of being scammed, I found myself at peace and secure in my accommodation at Heathfield. Being an international student in a foreign land is not always easy, but at least I don't have to worry about where I stay, eat, and sleep. Though a bit expensive, my rent covered all the utility bills, high-speed internet, 24-hour hot water, and heating. The kitchen is also well-equipped with stoves, an oven, a fridge, and a freezer. I must also acknowledge their prompt service delivery. When we faced a problem with our oven, it was replaced with a new one within the shortest possible time. Fire safety is also top-notch, and I commend the housing's zero-tolerance policy for racism and abuse. Due to my apartment's location in the centre of the University of Dundee, I don't have to pay any money for my travel to the university, the city centre, or the supermarkets, which are all located within a 1 km radius.

It needs to be regularly checked and visited by the cleaners/managers so that if it is unclean, some responsibilities can be handed out

We carry out termly inspections and if you need assistance or have concerns with regards to the cleanliness please let us know.

Having moved here 2 months ago to study my LLM in International Oil and Gas Law, the experience has been pleasantly surprising as everything is in close proximity from one another, I get to my classes quite easily because Healthfield is placed right on campus grounds. The rooms are quite spacious and most importantly the bed you’ll get is a double for maximum comfort, that’s what I appreciate the most.

I think it’s a little bit expensive, I understand the cost of living, but you’re meant to be for students. I think the kitchens could have something a little extra to encourage socialisation of flatmates. There’s no toaster. For how much I’m paying I want a toaster.

The heathfield managers are great. They check-in on students regular and provide support when needed. Being able to live right on campus also brings to much ease. I’m able to move easily to my classes in the shortest period of time.

Get ready for the lowdown on my amazing time at Heathfield student accommodation in Dundee. It was an absolute game-changer! Living there was a blast—I met incredible people from around the world, like my awesome flatmates from Nigeria and South Africa. We had a cultural feast in our own flat, sharing stories and trying delicious dishes. Plus, the place was spotless, thanks to their top-notch cleanliness. The Sanctuary Students office was always there to save the day when needed. And let's not forget the epic parties and fantastic events—they kept the excitement going. It was really good. You have access to each part of university just by a minute walking. The internet connection was really fast. Hanging out with roommates depends on your rommate, how much they are introverted and interested in going out , but still most of them are in to hang out. The services were also good. The person who was responsible for checking the building was on time and polite. The alarming system was also working properly. There is a lot of space in kitchen that you can use for cooking, chilling out and having a party if you want. The hygiene of the whole building was also noticeable. 99% of the cases it was spotless.

It was good for the first year, to build social connections. But the room was so dark. No washing machine in the property. White goods were falling apart, replaced, and still not the best. Noisy. But in the very campus.

The accommodation came to me at a very good time, I didn’t need to look for a guarantor or reference to move in. All the facilities worked well, I didn’t suffer the cold new students suffers because the heater was always working. I recommend heathfield for anyone coming for, I settled in quickly and had amazing flatmates. I give the accommodation a five start….

I enjoyed my stay at the college campus. Well it is expensive when compared to staying outside campus, however the service given is exceptional good. The rooms are ensuite bathrooms and the common area with kitchen is shared. There was plenty of space to store things in kitchen as well as in rooms. There is Wi-Fi service everywhere around the campus, closer to class and library, routine checks conducted of the premises, walkable location to groceries and city centre, one call away for any kind of help required and most important of feeling save around. I enjoyed having company of other students and never felt alone. The campus and the buildings were kept clean every time and staffs working here are very helpful. There were several activities conducted by the res-life team which was a break from hectic studies. I enjoyed my stay at Heathfield which was worth of every penny spent.

Overall, I must say that I had an extremely poor experience staying at Heathfield for last 8 months. Too expensive for what we get. Even the DUSA shops which are meant to be subsided for students are expensive. We have faced multiple time noise issues in our flat during quiet hours and the security was of no help . The mattress are the worst in the world I must say. I have had complained multiple times and was directed to disability services. We are not disable and the university must understand that. You cannot sleep properly, after a few weeks of usage, started getting backache, neck pain and improper sleep. It seems like I have not slept properly for last 8 months and another 1 month to survive. I can write further, but that would be waste of time. For 707 £ / month, this is far from being satisfactory. Interested only in timely payments but not service. I will never recommend anyone to stay in Heathfield for the money students pay. The university must compensate for the agony.

Its my first year in university of dundee, but it is not good experience. When i live in heathfield, accommodation officer check the condition of room frequently. It influence my roommates and me lives. Some of office treat us extremely badly. Also lots of my firends from other flats said they meet same situation frequently. Even one time one of accommodation officer visit their room and open the door of my friend without prior warning

Heathfield is very expensive and I only chose it as I had no other option. But I have managed to make the most of it. It is in a very convinient location on campus and has plenty of shops nearby.

The halls at Heathfield aren't the cheapest available but you certainly get what you pay for, on arrival everything was clean and in good condition. It is set only 2 minutes walk from the union building and is right next to the gym and some major lecture theaters.

I am absolutely shocked at the price of the rent. I've had a call from a family member worried. The added stress of worrying about having a roof over your head when your a new student is awful. I said there must be a mistake, the fee is more than my homes rent! Why so extortionate? Why the lack of funding? Concentrating on studying is the only thing that should be on his mind. Outrageous. Can someone explain this to me?

My time there was enjoyable at first and a great opportunity ti meet new friends and settle into university life. The management were very strict but i felt secure at night. Over all experience was good, size of rooms are very basic but good enough with your own toilet. The common areas are very basic but able to lock everything.

Heathfield halls have been a great place to spend my first year at Dundee University. I have made many friends while living and been able to get a feel for independent living without extra worries about electricity, heating or wifi bills. One thing I would say that would improve Heathfield would be that it would be extremely beneficial if the Heathfield car park could be opened up for the use of residents throughout term time, there is not a lot of parking available on campus and this would allow residents to not have to park elsewhere in Dundee. Overall, Heathfield has been very good and I have enjoyed staying there greatly.

very good location and good size however our fridge broke and our food went mouldy and we had to tell the management 4 times and our tap is making loud noises and they have come and checked it and agreed they need to get someone out to fix it, but haven't. this had been going on for 3 months. bed rooms are nice and beds comfy, we are meant to have a cupboard however it is locked therefore we cant use it
