Lovely accomodation, very friendly and helpful staff. No issues with the kitchen, bathroom or laundry facilities so all the essentials work well. Only issue is that it is a little bit out of the way with the nearest shops being at least a 10-15 minute walk away.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Very nice and kind staff , and very helpful.
10/10 experience v clean very comfy
I like how it’s a quiet area, but not boring.
Very nice, nice and respectable staff
I love it here! It is much quieter than other student accommodation in Loughborough, which is perfect for me! About a 25 min walk to get to the west side of campus which is a bit of a walk but overall good as it helps me mentally get ready for the day, and helps me to wake up a bit. People at reception are lovely and the rooms are the perfect size.
Nice place to live, feels like i lucked out during the choosing of my accommodation!!
The University leasing through Unite Students does indeed make the Holt towards the more expensive side and the early bird and committee discount (the first of which no longer being in effect) were both exceedingly helpful in my second year, making the financial burden especially apparent this year As someone more inclined to introversion, the Holt was a good choice as a place where campus was neither too near nor too far! The parcel system is fantastic and by far a highlight of the hall’s facilities The cleaning and reception team work as hard as they possibly can and for that I am grateful :) The social experiences are inevitably going to be different from other halls due to location, but this suited me most as a tenant - much more than as a committee member of course, when I had to encourage people to attend events! In regards to wifi, this is only as strong as Eduroam itself and thus should have no bearing on the hall itself
Good sized rooms, lots of green space and reasonable price. Staff are all very friendly and helpful
I’ve enjoyed my time here and I enjoy the peaceful vibe of the area, I’d recommend it to people joining the uni.
Good halls, bit far from campus especially for engineering but good facilities and friendly reception.
It has been good, I have some great people and great location!
Good overall, long walk to wolfson mechanics building though.
Lovely accomodation, very friendly and helpful staff. No issues with the kitchen, bathroom or laundry facilities so all the essentials work well. Only issue is that it is a little bit out of the way with the nearest shops being at least a 10-15 minute walk away.
Reception staff are always friendly and helpful
Amazing accommodation, I'm loving it here! Everything is well maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful, overall a great experience. Would definitely recommend living here to a friend!
Really friendly staff, especially josh. Most people were very awkwark and didnt go to social events which spoilt them slightly
I love the area the Holt is in, the room (en-suite) and shared kitchen is big enough. Staff are friendly and the facilities are also good.
nice feel to the place with staff always happy to help
Nice bedrooms with a lot of space. It's expensive for what it is, but relative to other halls it's pretty good. The main critiques I've had are the extractor fans have been very poor throughout the year, and the bedrooms can get quite hot from May. But overall, I would recommend the Holt if you are looking for a quiet accommodation that is close to the East side of campus, not far from town, and close to nature (the grounds and surrounding area are nice). I'm returning here next year so let that speak for itself!
Good all around, especially for individuals who want to access campus easily and live in a reasonably quiet and respectful environment
Overall, The Holt is great and a perfect medium between the cheapest halls and the most expensive/luxurious. I have experienced no real issues in my time here and would certainly recommend to a friend
A cheaper off-campus accomodation in a good location for students studying on the East side of the university. Staff are friendly and willing to solve any issues promptly and there is a weekly clean of community areas by staff which allows students to focus more on studies. The only close shop for groceries is a smaller Tescos which will have all of your essentials but you will need to walk at least 20-25 mins for other shops. Overall a good option for those looking for a cheaper student accomodation
I enjoyed my time at The Holt, the only issue I faced was the wifi cutting out every now and then but it wasn't a big issue. Good amenities (a bit outdated though), great social aspect to the hall.
I love the Holt. Been living there for two years and now I will be spending third year there also.
Overall it was a great experience staying at the holt. The rooms are very nice, with a lot of space. The bathrooms have a lot of space and having ensuite is a huge plus
Really nice green spaces outside and Tesco nearby. Lots of places to walk. The regular cleaning was always good and community spirit encouraged.
Good hall with really nice room- double bed and ensuite. Lots of returners and postgrads though so freshers was slightly jarring. Not much of a social scene but could be worse. Good location though as only 10 minute walk to campus. Slightly far from town and supermarkets but not too bad.
Great place to live. Everything is functional and close to the uni but if your lectures are on west campus i would recommend finding a hall closer.
I was unsure about coming to the Holt when I applied for accommodation a year ago, but a year later and the hall exceeded my expectations. The small community within the hall, is one of the things that makes it very special and unique. It is surrounded by fantastic nature, and the staff that work here are superb. Although the location is not ideal for the course I do, it is still near where we do our written exams, the gym and the town.
Great hall, generally very good. Only downside is reception is often closed and the WiFi is quite unreliable.
Perfect uni accommodation for people who prefer the quieter life. Far enough away to avoid the rowdy night life but close enough to get involved and easy to get to lectures. On site parking is great but expensive. Ensuite, self catered, what more could you want
Great Accomidation and people, I know people say it is a quiet hall but it can be fun if you put yourself out there.
Really good definitely one of the more superior halls
Very convenient, great people and a nice environment to live in all round.
Solid, gets the job done. Personally love the location - with the river near it is nice.
Nice place to live, good value for money and lovely staff.
Accommodation is good and I have a good social life here. WiFi drops off in the kitchen though
The Holt accommodation at this UK university provides a decent living space for students. While the rooms are adequate and the amenities functional, there's room for improvement in terms of modernization and community engagement. Overall, it serves its purpose as a standard option for student housing, but falls short of being remarkable.
Jack and Dianne from reception are great
Jack on reception absolutely slays
The holt is quite good, not cheap but the rooms are spacious and have decent storage
I have been at the holt for 2 years now and I have absolutely loved it. The staff are all lovely and it is really quiet so I would recommend!
Great rooms, lovely staff, clean kitchens every week, friendly people
it’s great, everyone’s lovely, staff as well it’s clean nice rooms
I've spent 2 years at the Holt, the WiFi and location is great. If you want a slightly more relaxed uni accom it's perfect.
Overall just a really nice place in a good location. Is usually in great condition with only a few issues with maintenance but they’re always fixed pretty quickly.
All the reception staff and cleaning staff are lovely - they’re very attentive with issues and always friendly. Only issues I’ve had are due to the leaks in the ceiling and my parking permit not being accepted - these issues either took a while to resolve or have not yet been resolved, but staff have been lovely throughout. Would love to stay here again next year but it’s just become too expensive and I am not able to afford it :(
Decent accommodation, only issue I have is the distance to campus obviously that cannot be changed.
Good and well run, lots of stuff going on all the time
The Holt is a lovely place, nice friendly vibe. Great workers, Chloe, Jack and Diane have all been great.
The Holt is great, lovely rooms. The staff is also very friendly especially Jack, Diane and Chloe.
Value for money and has great common room for socialising
Diane, Jack and Chloe are lovely and easy to chat to
I have very much enjoyed being at the holt as the people here are great including all the staff for example Piare Chloe and Jack are all wonderful people who work at reception I would very much recommend this hall to new students in they coming years
Jack, Diane and Chloe are amazing
Diane, Chloe and Jack on reception are really welcoming and easy to talk to about anything.
Great reception and cleaning staff. especially diane, chloe and jack 👌
great team :) - diane chloe and jack are amazing!
The holt community is wonderful and the reception staff are always lovely especially Emma Diane and Chloe!
Excellent accommodation, lovely staff, especially Chloe, Diane and Emma :)
Very good, good staff and rooms are spacious.
Fantastic accommodation, great location in Loughborough, friendly and helpful staff (Emma, Dianna and Chloe etc…) and good parking.
Been at the holt for 2 years. It’s been great. The staff are friendly and the accommodation is very nice
Emma and Diane, awesome staff, make the place feel like home !
Lovely little place out of the way, very quiet although not very social. Cleaners Rachel and Emma are lovely and do a great job when they come in. Wifi slow but ethernet cable is ok. Such a nice room and good space in kitchen
All people working here are so lovely, Emma goes the extrs mile to let me know when my hello fresh has arrived immediately after it gets there so my food doesnt go off :) and So grateful for Rachel’s help with cleaning our flat
Amazing place to live in, very peaceful area, Dianne is the best and a lovely cleaner. Bathroom handy as it has a shower not a washroom.
It is in a lovely place to live in. It is just off campus and very quiet. Diane is amazing and is so sweet and can have a great conversation. The reception team are amazing and so helpful especially Josh. They respond quickly to any questions you have and deal with problems quickly
Diane, Chloe and Jack are superb members of staff
Chloe, Diane and Jack are amazing!
Chloe, Jack, Diane all superb staff
It great, our cleaners Diane and Chloe are great and do an amazing job every week!
All staff are great but Diane, Chloe and Jack are especially great, really helpful and kind
Josh and Chloe are always really welcoming when visiting the reception and are very helpful with any and all queries.
I have no regrets having chosen The Holt, especially compared to other halls. The kitchen space is important to me and it's spacious and functional; it's above expectation. Maintainence issues were flagged and most were fixed but with little opportunity to follow up if still unsatisfactory. And again the WiFi often doesn't work: it either stays connected but doesn't work, connects but with an ! Mark, or flits between connected and disconnected. Thankfully this is typically not a problem with connection to laptops, just phones.
Pretty good accommodation! A bit far away but good value for money. Thank you Diane, Chloe and Jack!! Great reception and cleaners
All of the staff Emma, Diane, Josh, Rachel and Jack are so lovely and friendly
Lovely accommodation. Diane, Chloe and Jack are absolute legends
Jack Chloe at reception are amazing!! And Diane the cleaner 💜
Dianne has been the best housekeeper since my first year and I am so happy that I’ve still had her for three years now.
Good location, good facilitied
Lovely first term in the Holt, spacious rooms and nice tight nit community. Staff are really friendly and helpful, especially our wonderful cleaner Diane :)
Diane and Chloe are very helpful and have made my stay very enjoyable so far
Diane and Chloe have been wonderful staff to us and ive had an amazing stay here so far. The WiFi has been a little bit flakey at times but nothing that has severely impacted my view of the accommodation.
Diane and the cleaning crew are incredibly friendly and very accommodating
Our cleaner Diane is extremely nice and pleasant and I know I can expect a friendly smile and pleasant conversation and helping hand in the reception from her too!
Diane is a really nice cleaner, she does a great job cleaning without taking too much time or space. Would recommend.
The Holt Unite staff are all brilliant - especially Josh And Diane!
The holt has a homey feeling which I love
The Holt is a really nice place to be, the rooms are nice and spacious and the common room is really good. The flat is always kept really clean by cleaners like Diane as well.
Really well kept area. Have great staff like Diane who keep the holt nice and tidy.
WiFi doesn't work on anything other than my phone which is still poor connection, otherwise all is okay
Very excellent accomodation, would recommend for first year students looking for a place to stay that’s not too far from campus. Excellent cleaning from staff, namely Rachel, who always gives our flat a perfect clean.
Lisa is wonderful! I have a great time pestering her and having all my university needs met on a daily basis! Dianne and Joanna are also amazing. Especially dianne as she cleans my kitchen after my flat mates ruin it with pres every Wednesday! She also occasionally leaves and comes back if I am doing my meal prep in the early mornings; which I really appreciate!
The holt likely has the biggest rooms with ensuite in all of loughbourough accomodations. The common room is arguably the best as well with both a snooker table and a pool table. We are a slightly smaller hall so the community is noticably tighter and our sports is great as well. One thing of note is yes it is 8 minutes off campus. Which tbh isn't too bad because your closer to shops but is worth while checking where your course building is. Eg: (buisness and math is super close but engineering is quite far.) My advice is get a bike you can basically go anywhere in 10 minutes. Finally to the super sporty ppl do join us we will be making a title run for football and volleyball which is gonna be very exciting!!
Great place with lovely staff if you want a nice quiet place to live the holt is it
I've stayed at the Holt for all 3 years of my undergraduate. It's well placed, with fairly sized rooms and kitchens that a cleaned thoroughly weekly. The staff such as Lisa, Dianne and Johanna are all lovely and super helpful.
Emily (and I’m sure the rest of the team) is a great help in the reception, always there to aid and advise.
Despite initially being hesitant to be off campus, I’ve liked the separation between university and accommodation more than I thought I would. The flats themselves have more than enough space to accommodate everyone and everything and are neutrally decorated which allows you to easily personalise your own room. The team at the Holt are friendly, approachable and always happy to answer any queries - notably Emily in reception and Diane and Joanna on the housekeeping team. The buildings themselves are feel safe and secure due to multiple keycard points and doors, and locks on the bedroom doors also. The en-suites are generously sized for student accommodation. Also, following reports made by my flatmates and myself, maintenance have been swift with dealing with any issues that’ve arisen so far.
Emily at reception is always super helpful and really welcoming!! Fav receptionist
Been great so far! receptions very good, especially emily!
Lovely environment, the flats are spacious and always cleaned weekly by the lovely Diane. Reception staff are so friendly, especially Emily who always gives me my parcels and is always willing to help with any issues.
Great Accomodation, however the price is a little bit expensive for what is provided . Great & clean spaces . Amazing cleaning services by Diane who makes our kitchen spotless everytime and great reception services from Emily, Lisa and adjoa , especially Emily who sorted out majority of my issues relating to Accomodation .
Diane has been absolutely lovely and does an incredible job cleaning our kitchens every week. Very grateful for her
The Holt is in a lovely location not too far from campus and particular members of staff such as Emily and Diane really make it a brilliant place to live with their friendly attitudes and always there to help mindset. Thank you to them!
Emily the receptionist makes the Holt experience! Lovely lady and always there to help with whatever!
emily is the friendliest receptionist she's always so kind and smiley
Our kitchen is cleaned weekly by Diane and Emily is always lovely at reception when we collect our parcels!
I like the holt very much and will be coming back for my final year ! Emily at reception is also amazing :)
Diane + Joanna great cleaning always do a great job Emily, Lisa and Adjoa on reception are really friendly and helpful
Really enjoying living here great location and nice rooms. Very friendly staff particularly Dianne, Emily and Joanne who are always willing to help. Considering applying to live here next year again :)
Good value for pretty big rooms with ensuite however you are a bit off campus and gives you extra 5 minutes walk atleast everywhere.
The community is incredible, from student led committees to the Unite staff and Warden team. Special credit to Emily, Val and Duncan
The social atmosphere is dire, the rooms and bathrooms are large but outdated, mouldy and filled with mould and silverfish.
Good accommodation, staff friendly
its nice and homey, the staff are lovely and it's not too quiet but not crazy
The Holt is definitely not as bad as people say it is!
The holt is a great place to live, with really friendly staff and stunning views, the only downside is the location, with it being a 10 minute walk to campus, it is slightly inconvenient, but overall living here is a great experience, and most of the issues encountered are experienced across the university, not just at the holt
Good location (about a 10 minute walk from my lecture halls), the staff working here are lovely and really helpful, and the cleaners do a great job! Any maintenance issues are dealt with promptly
Needs better internet and better quality showers
The Holt is actually a cracking accommodation. for a decent price a small double bed with an en suite, as well as very polite staff. i would definitely recommend to people looking at Loughborough accommodation.
Really nice hall, I was in Claudia Parsons first year and prefer the Holt to that
Good private location only short walk from social events and uni life
Great location to get to campus
Peaceful and quiet accommodation, only no bedroom cleaning, cleaners do a good job, nice common room and helpful reception staff
Overall good with good value for money and social spaces however due to Covid the social experience was a bit limited but despite that the committees did try to create the best experience possible. However, it would be better if there was a printer at the holt for those that don't have one themself.
I’ve met some great people here, it was a good experience
With being off campus, the holt provides an environment which allows the student to escape being in the university grounds 24/7 without feeling overawed.
The holt is an amazing hall, it’s located right near campus and east park, a 10 minute max walk into town, next to the Toby for those hangover cures, the hall is amazing at cultivating a social and welcoming culture, encouraging yo to make friends no matter your race/gender/sex or creed.
Good hall, far from West Park though
A really wonderful hall, its not talked about too much because its off campus and doesn't have that many rooms in comparison to the other halls however it feels so homely and the flats have spacious kitchen areas. The cleaners are great but only come once a week so you do have to be responsible and clean up after yourself, if you don't respect the kitchen and tidy things up they will leave a note and sometimes refuse to clean, but its fair enough as they're not hired to be your parents and clean up after yourself. Very well located if you're doing Arts/English/Drama or economics, not so good if you're doing science or engineering as that is on the other side of campus (30 minute walk)
Thank you for your review! Tendo
The Holt was not originally my first choice because I was aiming to be on-campus. However, I’m so glad that I lived at the Holt. It is a 5 minute walk to lecture halls. This hall especially allows people to become involved in sports and sections which may not be as easily accessible in some of the bigger hall’s due to more people. For example, I do not consider myself a sporty person but was really interested in getting involved in sport; I was obviously not good enough to get onto the uni teams but the Holt’s committee made great efforts to have anyone get involved regardless of their ascribed talent which made the sports experience great for those who just wanted to be involved and play some games every week.
Hi Memberliv Its great to hear that you chose to make the most out of your experience whilst staying in our halls of residence! Tendo
I’ve had an okay year here but nothing amazing. The buildings are nice but socially it’s quite cliquey and I’ve struggled to find my place. My room was really good though and had plenty of space so this place would be good for someone more outgoing
Had a brilliant stay in The Holt for my second year. I was put in a flat of only two others which meant we had an enormous kitchen and social space just to ourselves. The room was well furnished and the ensuite was equipped with modern and well maintained plumbing. I couldn't fault the accommodation, it was exactly what I needed
We're glad to hear that your needs were met! Tendo
