My experience at this hall has been amazing, my room is so big, has its own toilet and desks. And I only share my flat with two others which has lead to being able to cook together as the space is so big. The WiFi has never let me down either studying during the day or watching movies at night. I have even joined the committee for my hall and am staying another year here which really summarises how much I have enjoyed staying here.

Q&A
We have a very limited number of rooms in Butler Court without a wash-hand basin. These are similar to the rooms which you would find in Falkner Eggington.
Hi there, thanks for the question! Butler Court retired the use of shared (American dorm style) bedrooms a few years ago, so all bedrooms in the hall are now single occupancy. All three room types: single rooms, large en-suites and deluxe en-suites only contain one bed and will only be rented to one student. Almost all rooms in Butler Court are ensuite, so the only facility you will likely share with other students is the kitchen.
Hello, thanks for the question! Butler Court retired the use of shared (American dorm style) bedrooms a few years ago, so all bedrooms in the hall are now single occupancy. Of the 209 bedrooms in Butler Court, 136 bedrooms are a large en-suite with a 4ft bed and 69 bedrooms are deluxe en-suite. Only 4 bedrooms have a shared bathroom, so you will be sharing with 4 people. Communal bathrooms and toilet facilities shared between these 4 students will be cleaned by our fantastic cleaning services team a minimum of three times a week.

All the Answers You Need About Student Accommodation
What tenancy length do I need?
Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
Should I stay in catered student accommodation?
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
What is a guarantor and do I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Will I need to pay a deposit on student accommodation?
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
What bills will my rent include?
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
What is purpose-built student accommodation?
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Will my student accommodation be furnished?
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

Large room with some useful properties provided, suitable for students who study courses of the Arts (Graphic design, Fine Art, Industrial design, ect). Room is clean, many drawers, cupboard to store belonginge. However the fridge should be bigger and the rice cooker should be changed to another brand so it is easier to use (e.g. Cuckoo) if possible. By the way, not bad

Really good accommodation with excellent equipment and very friendly staff
There’s so much space in the rooms and only three people to most kitchens so it feels very independent and never cramped. Perfect for design and art students who want or need a few minutes walk to their lectures. The washers are close by for easy access and the spar is under 10 minutes away for forgotten ingredients. I have loved living at butler and look forward to returning second year.
Butler court is a good accommodation, however, sometimes the wi-fi is too slow.
Is well nice. Mainly full or arty people but turning into more sports. IMS Sport for the hall is exceptionally fun as we aren’t the best but know how to have good fun. Rooms are very big and spacious which is lovely. 3 to a kitchen so you have sooooo much space. Great location as it’s close to town but still on campus so get the best of both worlds. Wld defo recommend to anyone
Good location as on campus so near everything
great accom perfect location! The rooms are so spacious and great place to live
Great location if you’re doing art or design as it’s right next door. Rooms are huge with lots of storage. Smaller hall but still very social.
Didn’t initially want Butler Court but so glad I got put there. The rooms are by far the biggest on campus on only 3 share a kitchen which is great. The location is perfect for creative arts and design students as all the lecture halls are close by. Ultimately it has a great community feel.
Butler Court might be a smaller hall than those on campus but every year it proves that it shouldn’t be underestimated. It has an amazing social life and the biggest rooms on campus
Living in Butler Court as an exchange student in Loughborough was an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect, in the East side of campus next to many important university facilities and the closest to town. I would choose Butler all day everyday!
Butler is the second smallest accommodation at Loughborough but even though it is small (in terms of students housed here) it is mighty! This means the social life and community sense in the accommodation is great here. It is a great location on the East side of campus for Sport Science students studying in buildings such as Clyde Williams (3 min walk), James France (5 min walk), Edward Herbert Building (5 min walk), Netball Centre (2 min walk), and you are close to the town centre next to Epinal way traffic lights. The rooms are big and spacious with regular cleaning of your rooms and communal areas making it a great place to relax and study when needed. The kitchens are a good size so you are not on top of each other while cooking and the distribution of students per flat is ideal at a small to moderate ratio.
Butler Court has spacious rooms which makes it very comfortable and less claustrophobic. Great location for design students.
Love the location and the people. Rooms are big and kitchens spacious however it is far too expensive as things often break or are unreliable.
Didn’t initially want Butler Court but so glad I got put there, made the best friends. The rooms are by far the biggest on campus on only 3 share a kitchen which is great. Was quite far away from my lectures being in west park but the bus was easy to use and the walk was nice to get fresh air. It’s a bit of a quieter hall as it is smaller than most but you make your own parties and is a great community feel.
Great location, close to town.
Very underrated, a brilliant alternative to the much loved Claudia Parsons. By far the biggest rooms on campus, ensuites and double beds. Closer to the academic and sport hubs on campus than accommodation in the village. Choose a standard double ensuite for white walls :) it’s only the deluxe that have the ugly coloured walls!
Most underrated hall on campus!!! The biggest rooms you will ever find in halls! Butler has such a community spirit and know how to sesh. It may be one of the smaller halls on campus but that just means you get to know more people in your hall. The common room is also one of the biggest on campus. It’s perfect location, closest hall to town, powerbase and exam hall + one of the closest to the union, athletics track, lecture halls, parcels building and swimming centre
As you say, as it's one of our smaller halls, you get to know more people!
Not the most charismatic accommodation in the University, but it is definitely not the worst accommodation however the social life is non existent
Hi there, the LSU have been able to hold minimal events due to the pandemic but this will now increase as restrictions are lifted.
A comfortable place to live with all of the facilities you need to make the place feel like home. The social atmosphere is also great!
Thank you for your review. We are so happy to hear you had such a positive experience in Butler! - Emily
A small hall compared to others
It may be smaller but it's in a great location being near to facilities such as LSU (handy after a night out!!), Powerbase Gym and swimming pool.
Best team of warden and subwardens. Committee is very helpful and life in general is great. Rooms and kitchens are frequently cleaned and the WiFi is excellent
Hi member941408 Thank you for the review! We're glad that you enjoyed your time staying in our halls of residence Tendo
It’s a community for life, that’s provided me with the best student experience you could want in a hall
We're glad to hear you enjoyed being part of the #LboroFamily community! Tendo
I can't fault Butler Court. The location is ideal with it being close to the union and near town as well as my lecture halls. The rooms are of a hugely high standard with an ensuite, double bed and two wardrobes. We get our flats cleaned every week which is more than you could ask for and our common room is the best and biggest on campus.
Thank you for this great review! Tendo
As a Business student, I couldn't have asked for a better self-catered accommodation. It's around 5 minutes away from the main lecture halls, 5 minutes away from the union and 10 minutes away from town centre. When I shared a room, the warden team did an amazing job with paring up with my roommate and flatmates. They clean the kitchen every week and our rooms fortnightly. For 2017/18 they are refurbishing the common room and another block of the court. I've never had problems with the Internet and Design School's lab or John Cooper labs were just 1 minute away if I needed to print something (Art School is across the road for art students). As I know the hall committee personally, I'm sure freshers' week will be one of a kind experience!
Thank you for your review! Tendo
Hall life at Loughborough is incredible, you have so many opportunities and there is always something going on. Some of my fondest memories of university are the times I spent with my flatmates in halls.
Big rooms and great location for walking into town and to main lecture theatres
made good friends, freshers was chill, room was cold and there was condensation but the people are amazing
In a Shared Room for first year, location is perfect, only a few minutes walk away from the union and my lectures. Get on great with my roommate, wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
The best hall in Loughborough in terms of a family feel! The committee members and fresher helpers really make you feel at home- I have had no complaints (except from the wifi) about staying in these halls as a fresher!!
Small community but homely. Everyone knows everyone and looks out for one another. A 250 person family. Huge rooms, cleaners are fab, facilities (tv, sofa etc) are a bonus, ensuite are lovely with nice showers. Commitee are enthusiastic and welcoming, help with anything. Very close to design school and art block, one if the closest to the SU. Laundry and reception is 10 seconds away. Pretty views. Wifi is fine, heating is always fine. Not too modern not too old. Only share a flat with 3-6 people. Would love to spend all 3 years here. Def recommend.
Depends on what flat mates you get, butler has amazing location for town and power base gym
Butler Court is in the most perfect location to town and the students union
Great hall, amazing people. We're like a family! Only downside is if you're doing engineering it's on the other side of campus!
LOVE it this hall has been my life at uni and where all my friends are from , the hall life is incredible and i am so so sad to be leaving this year , shame half was updated and other half has been left because the old blocks could really do with an update ! shared rooms need to go too, but bring costs down as single rooms are very expensive
Ideal location if your on an elite AU team but, if you want to go to Holywell and/or the library regularly its a bit of a walk.
Although it's one of the smaller less known halls at Loughborough, the family feel you get from it is the most comforting thing when you're leaving home for the first time. Honestly wouldn't want to be in any other hall!
Good time here, but feel as if the deluxe rooms could be made into single rooms to bring more people kn
Absolutely brilliant. I have a large ensuite and it is such good value for money. It doesn't look like a lot when you first arrive but it is once you get used to it! It's close to the union on campus and is about a 15 minute walk from the library (which is the furthest you'll go - unless you do engineering or go to hollywell gym, that'll take you about half hour!) but there is a campus bus you can get on for free with your student ID. The staff at butler court are always friendly and if you have a problem with your room they will fix it right away. Best halls at Loughborough university by far, certainly worth the money for the time and space I've spent here!
