Hotwells House is in a fantastic location, 10 minutes from the centre, a short walk to Clifton and right on the harbourside. I’m currently in a silver en-suite room, the room is a decent size and with a small bathroom. The kicthen/ living space is a generous size, lots of storage and with good appliances. The best thing about Hotwells, in my opinion, is the maintenance service. It is super easy to report problems and make requests which are always quickly responded to. Any requests I have made, have been fulfilled by the next day. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. Incredibly welcoming and comforting, a real reassurance to anyone who may be nervous.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.
Love the people and the how amiable the people are.
I decided to stay at Hotwells House to avoid dealing with landlords. I stayed in a Bronze ensuite which was reasonably sized. The kitchen is very large which is great for cooking and hosting friends and there are two bathrooms. The best part of Hotwells is the location, its next to the harbourside and I took many scenic walks around the area. You can walk to the University of Bristol but it is uphill so I often took the UniBus up, however there are many other transport links which take you to the City Centre and nearby beaches such as Weston Super Mare.
Bit pricey but not bad. Staff is very welcoming and location pretty good if u go to bower Ashton uni.

Very comfortable bedrooms and shared kitchen space, with friendly, accommodating staff and great location for the city :) Any 'issues' are resolved promptly and efficiently!
Maintenance responded quickly. Nice environment and staff. Good location.
Studying at University of Bristol, didn’t manage to get uni accommodation first year. Managed to sort this a week before moving in. Rooms are lovely and staff are very pleasant.
Been here for years, great staff and great place generally!
Staff are all really nice, my only reservations are that's its a little expensive for the size of room and kitchen plus occasional issues with warm water.
Sam the manager and mitsy the receptionist are very
Nice area, the staff team are really dedicated and friendly. Rent is a bit expensive (but what isn't these days in bristol)
Hotwells House is a beautiful building full of lovely people. It has all the facilities you could want and the reception staff are really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it.
Everything was perfect. I loved there for almost 3 years and I had a great time.
Really great place to stay all-round. The rooms are actually bigger than they seem on the website, and the kitchen and bathrooms are decently sized as well. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, which made moving in and asking any questions much easier. Good location for getting to UoB and the city centre, and close to the harbourside as well. Only minor criticism is that parking is expensive and the company only offers a week's pass rather than giving you an option to buy something for a day. The site does also use Circuit laundry, but so does virtually every student accomodation so that's not really a point against the place. Would highly recommend.
Recently moved in. Clean, spacious rooms and kitchen. Great location. Sam & team are incredibly helpful and friendly folks
I have stayed here for a year with my mates, and the reception has been very helpful since day 1.the place was very comfortable and all the amenities were kept clean and working. All of reception, Sam, Mitzie and jay and Angela were all a key reason for my stay in hotwells being so good.
Excellent place for students, especially those at Bower Ashton and central campuses.
Very good staff and utilities, good value for money
This is a lovely housing right next to the harbourside and has excellent connectivity to the city centre, train station and university. With a big shared kitchen and two reasonably sized bathrooms along with a fully furnished double bed room, I had all the amenities I needed as a doctoral student. The in-house laundry and gym are fully equipped to cater to everyone's needs. And, last but not the least, I found the most kind, friendly and helpful staff here. They supported me in various ways and made me feel safe throughout my stay.
Wouldn't recommend living here, we had many issues with the flat which the staff did not resolve and were unhelpful with. The location was the only good thing about the place
Lovely place to live with lovely helpful staff. Prices are too high for the accommodation.
Great place to stay, 10/10. Staff are on hand and amazing also
The staff working here are absolutely lovely- but cleanliness should be kept on top of abit more. Plus- we should be allowed posters on our walls! its like an asylum without the screaming.
Could be cleaner, communal areas are clean but seems like no inspection in the flat I was staying in was made before I moved in. Helpful and friendly staff.
I have been here for a bout 3 years, the community has been great, the staff had too. Made me feel very welcome
brill love all the staff! and good location!!
Good experience overall, with helpful staff and prompt responses to maintenance requests.
Convenient location for Bower Ashton students, reception staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
If you are looking for somewhere close to the centre and has a nice community life, hotwells is great!
It was good enough for the budget I had this year. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
I have stayed here for two years and it has been really ideal in location as my uni is only about a 10 minute walk away and it's close to some really nice nature. It is by a busy main road though, so noise isn't great. The only thing with living here is that it is around a 30 minutes walk away from the center and there are not really close supermarkets nearby, apart from a Spar which is handy but expensive. Living here has been ok, its student accommodation so you can't expect a five-star hotel. But I would say it's alright for moving into your first year. The one thing that can be frustrating is the that there are only three washing machines between a hundred and something residents so you are sometimes left waiting for people to pick up their washing. The price to wash clothes is also expensive, but that is most likely universal with student accommodation. WiFi could also be better. The rooms are also ok, ideally could have more storage. Generally the staff are responsive.
I had a great time living in Hotwells. Though it may be inconvenient to get to some places, we had decent access by transport. Nonetheless, we have great flatmates that makes the communal space homely.
Paid £166 per week for a standard double bed, 1 shower, 2 toilets and a shared kitchen. Personally don’t think 1 shower is enough when sharing with 5 people, also don’t think it’s a big ask to have a hoover in the flat. The cleaning inspections are few and far between and proved few consequences besides an email if the flat wasn’t clean enough, meaning the flatmates I had who wouldn’t clean felt no further obligation to do so. I find it ridiculous that there’s no staff on weekends or after 17:30 on a weekday as these are the times that the most noise/disruption happens. Moreover, it’s really poor that if you get locked out when there’s no staff on-site you either have to pay £60 to get security to come and let you back in or you have no choice but to go and stay with a friend. Also, 3 washing machines and 3 tumble dryers for the entire accom? Not good enough. Only perk was the location, close to city centre, Aldi is only a 20 min walk away and close to Clifton village.
A lovely place, everybody here is really kind!
Very kind and enthusiastic staff. A little pricy but for private halls with bills included it's not bad at all.
Disgusting, moulds inside bathrooms, no cleaning services, old furniture, rude people They only want to get your money DO NOT LIVE THERE
