I enjoy going to university and all the lecturers and staff around site are helpful, friendly and very approachable
Brilliant uni, brilliant staff
Large campus, close to the city centre. Excellent facilities and staff
Very basic university that is not worth the incredible amount of debt I now find myself in...
I love St John's small but beautiful campus, although we are expected to pay for a lot of things which other universities help cover the costs of. I love YSJ overall though and everyone is very approachable and friendly.
The uni itself is beautiful, the staff are wonderful and quick to help. Now the most important part - the student union is amazing, it's own bar and activities each night and very helpful to the societies
Only been here for 5 weeks. So welcoming and a lovely atmosphere to learn in
The underdog of Uni's , close community , great staff and friendly people. Feel like I could go far in the future.
Everyone is friendly, settle in quickly, caring and exciting environment
YSJ although it isn't a big university that's what makes it great, with being a small uni it means you get smaller more focused lectures discussions practicals etc and you're more likely to see your tutors than at some of the bigger unis. Its in the centre of York where there are 365 bars/pubs to have a pint or two in, there are also numerous attractions, shops, parks and hidden secrets to enjoy. The atmosphere is always friendly and its rare to feel homesick but if you do there is always someone there to talk to and if you do want to go home the train station is only a 15 minute walk if you dawdle and 10 if you don't from the uni!
A brilliant Uni with staff that fully support all of students needs
They have been very supportive and always give me fantastic opportunities to develop my learning and understanding.
Great facilities and teaching standard is high (for English Literature at least). Good range of accommodation all within walking distance of the university
Very nice and compact, not many sports on offer though
Compact university with friendly people and a mixture of new and old buildings. It's easy to find your way around campus.
Lovely location and nice campus
The university is the best. So many things to do, from quiz nights to karaoke, to movie and ice cream nights. The SU are the best, and organise so many events to keep the students happy.
It allows for more opportunities to come out of your shell
The university is so multicultural and the city brings history alive
Love it, best year of my life!
YSJ is puah sound no wa a mean mush.
Love the university lots. I think it could be improved by making the gym better!
Absolutely amazing uni!! So happy I decided to go with YSJ, couldn't have made a better decision.
One of the best university! Right in the heart of the city to make sure that the social life is just as good as the university courses on off!
Fantastic, family like University. Small enough so everyone recognises everyone. Full of great people and opportunities.
Very good university! Glad i chose this uni, it has top notch science facilities! Don't want to leave
Great location, awesome and modern campus, wifi is excellent and great career opportunities
Great uni, everything is close by, loads to do
Such a great place to study. It's right in the centre of York and the whole campus is quite compact which gives the uni a real community feel. Great facilities include the library and the excellent on campus doctor as well as the student advice team and health and well being team who are so helpful. There's student nights almost every night and countless societies to join.
It is a great feeling uni with a great intimate atmosphere and is a great uni.
A really great campus, the wifi is excellent, lots of opportunities to take part in but the SU building could be better, very small and minimalistic
Top facilities for students and faculty to use, tutors and other staff all very supportive and help students make to most of their time
It is a very pretty campus, almost in the centre of the beautiful city of York. I would recommend this university as it is genuinely a great place for academic development and it's just a shame that its small size results in it being low down in the league tables etc.
Regular events on at the student union, only downside is that its a bit small. Wifi's decent, can go down often though and career/job fairs are handy.
not the best university ever when you hear stories about others but it is so small here that there is a community. It begins to feel like everyone knows everyone.
a good music department but everything just seemed a scaled down to a normal university
Internet very slow more then likely because a lot of users
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience studying at YSJ. The campus and facilities are very modern and state of the art, due largely in part to an intensive building program that has been taking place at the University since 2002. The lower rating for the Student Union is due to the poor building that it is housed in- however the staff of the student union do a fantastic job and they are always on hand to help when you may need it. The internet coverage is campus- wide and free to access through a Uni account. The internet is relatively fast for a public network, and using it is straightforward. The career opportunities from YSJ are reasonably good, and the Uni enjoys a good reputation considering it was only granted University status in 2006. Overall I had a good experience at YSJ (although I found my second uni experience at Huddersfield University superior). I would probably recommend YSJ, although the drop out rate for my course was and is relatively high compared to average. CR
York St John is a cute uni, more like a community. Everyone knows everyone and it's a really pretty place. The teachers on the Media course are the absolute best and absolute sweeties also.
its okay although printing should be free since we pay £9000 a year. And they need more computers. There's about 12.
Brilliant uni! The tutors are great. Its a small campus so easy to get used to. Good facilities and overall a great place to learn
A great uni, modern and accessible in a great location
University seems to care about money quite a lot
its a good university of your not asking for much, does its job and may not have the best facilities but it's definitely getting there
Not the best university... But probably not the worst?
An amazing, welcoming and friendly university! The only problem I have is the lack of lectures/seminars and too much independent work which makes me doubt the price per year.
su is too small and the gym is rubbish
Very healthy student spirit as it's a small university
Good facilities, and wifi around campus. Most the societies are sports based which doesnt appeal to me personally but many of my friends enjoy them. Not really involved in the SU but have a nice shop for general bits and a cheap bar.
