Absolutely amazing experience so far with lots of opportunities to contact lecturers
I love my little university, I feel right at home there

Lovely campus, not too big easy to get around. Social spaces are good, cafeteria, su, and cafe are good for food and drink.
Amazing time so far, so supportive.

York St John is a friendly university and is welcoming, the sports societies are great especially dance I have joined, the su puts on weekly events which are pretty popular. The campus provides all the facilities you need for your university experience, York St John University is a well rounded great university.

The university is a brilliant uni, the lecturers are supportive where necessary. The SU is great, there is a cafe and a bar - many events on too.

Amazing experience and great social
The small campus has a really nice community aspect to it, perfect for students who feel overwhelmed with crowds/large places. There's a range of sport clubs and societies however I would prefer if there was a wider range such as a walking society. The art courses are also really nice however I wish the global opportunities weren't as limited for illustration students.
The uni has a close knit feel with it being smaller than most and York is an amazing city to live in.
Best accommodation. Reception staff Julie, Joy and Annabelle are amazing, so friendly and welcoming we love them. Always up for a chat and get everything sorted asap.
Quite small campus but have everything we need

University with amazing facilities, loads of resources and tutors are very supportive.
I have really enjoyed the past 2 years here, the disabilities and wellbeing teams have helped me so much with a learning support plan and my mental health. I’ve made great friends here too, and its overall a really welcoming and accepting University.
There’s a library that opens 24/7 and different floor and zone for example; quiet floors . There’s computers available everywhere.
The overall experience for me to study at York St John is reasonably positive, however there could be better facilities and better food served!

Good university societies and good community
The school environment is very good, the school is relatively close to the flat, the teachers are very serious and responsible, and the students are very kind.
I would recommend this university very high, everything I wanted and more! The society clubs are amazing and well run.
A very nice university to attend.
I can't speak much on the careers service as I've never used it but I do really enjoy studying at YSJ. I feel comfortable there and as though the staff understand my worries.

Brilliant university staff are very supportive.
The university is pretty compact and easy to navigate, however staff are always happy to help. The student union hosts a range of events throughout the year and constantly keep students updated with things ongoing at uni.

The campus of York St John is very pretty and has numerous cafes and places to grab food. The teachers are always helpful and so are careers services who constantly send out helpful jobs and have job fairs. The internet is great and almost always reliable
Good university, nice campus and good lecturers
There are not many societies for people who are unable to partake in sports. Staff tend to be really caring and friendly. The campus is a good mix of modern and old, has lots of spaces to sit and is great overall.
Great University, Academic staff are great and so are the placements team! The SU is always a good place to meet/study during the day and cheap drinks at night!
Enjoying my time so far at York St John’s. Unfortunately haven’t found the time to join a society or club hence the middle star. The same with careers services as I have not yet spoken to them.
Being smaller gives it a strong community feel. It’s really fun and I’ve met some really lovely people.
A very pretty campus with some amazing places to study and work on assignments.
Uni is pretty good, most are satisfying
campus is pretty with a homely vibe and has a large library open 24/7. however the uni is just too small and york itself has a pretty poor student scene making it hard to make friends and have a good time. there is a major lack of societies to join aside from team sports, adding to how little there is to do when part of this university. the courses themselves all seem very small and not the best in the country/area by far and if you’re thinking of doing a creative/arts subject i wouldn’t recommend at all. the arts department seemed very underfunded and just behind the times in general, i ended up dropping out pretty early on, and i wasn’t the only one.

YSJ has got the best tutors, and they help students in developing professional skills as well as personal skills. All the campus facilities are excellent.
nice people, nice courses, nice experience
York St. John is a brilliant university. In the heart of York it’s a short walk into the centre and to the train station. The student union has good wifi and sells plenty of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks across the lounge and bar to enjoy both day and night. I spent most lunches here with a coffee in the comfy seats in the lounge. The pub quiz every Tuesday night is great fun (if you avoid the group that cheat each week) and the drinks are cheap and delicious. Most staff are lovely, only a few who are rude on busy nights. The library is big and items easy to find, with different floors for those who want to study in silence. Plenty of food and drink options available across campus, but not much choice available in the canteen after 1.30pm. Support available is good, but often lecturers aren’t available when you need them to be so it’s important to have coursemates to get in contact with. This is more of a general uni issue than with YSJ itself. Overall, there’s nowhere I’d rather go.
YSJ is a warm welcoming University, there is a nice atmosphere around campus and a mix of traditional and more modern buildings.
I really think they need to improve the societies and the students union. But I’m general campus is amazing, really good cafeteria and loads of coffee places everywhere which helped me through this year.
I'm now in my third year of PhD and I feel lucky and grateful to do a PhD here after the team of my supervisors. They are so patient with me that allow me to make y mistakes and find my way. That allows me to really love and start enjoying learning itself. That I think matters far more than the degree. And all the teachers here are so supportive. I love the atmosphere of study here!

Amazing sports facilities only issue is that it is abit of a walk to get there but other than that no complaints
I applied through clearing and ended up dropping out and transferring to another uni after 2 weeks. I was the loneliest I have ever been at this university and I felt so out of place. The university does hardly anything for its students and from what I experienced, teaching is below average. If you are from a big city I wouldn’t recommend moving to a town like York either as there is a big culture shock. Now I go to Essex uni and I am so much happier!

A small tight knit community very involved and on top of students studies. Making sure all students graduate with as much knowledge and experience as possible is what the staff do best.
I think it is the best university I could have gone to for my course and for the friends I have made in such a short space of time.
Moved in in September, although feeling apprehensive at first the staff made me feel extremely welcome and comfortable. The kitchen facilities are clean and up to date. There is bike storage and a gym which come in very handy. I enjoy living here and have booked for next year.

Appalling university, I had little to no communication all through COVID and even before hand which led me to drop out and upon dropping out I contacted them several times for updates which were ignored everytime and even though I said In my reasons why that the communication was bad nothing changed and upon my departure they were just as bad

Good uni given that it was both a poly and nursing college
They're trying to improve the facilities for art and design courses. Would recommend for any creative courses. Su bar is super cheap, cafeteria is a little pricey but I've never had something I don't like from there, they do breakfast lunch and tea. Starbucks and Costa are reduced prices. Library is good after you learn the system
This is one of the most stupid university in london and they never listen to student once they will get fees they don't care for student

I really like being at the Uni so far. However Ive only been here for a month now so I cant really give an opinion yet.
I have put 3 stars to those that do not apply to me as I dont know how well the function as of yet. So far this university is amazing! So beautiful and in a stunning area. I have enjoyed being here so far!
the wifi is absolutely spectacular
I can't really think of any facilities the campus is missing. The Students Union are very involved with YSJ students and they are constantly holding events and helping others. The wifi only works in Holgate and Fountains - it really sucks in the other buildings, which is annoying when most of my lectures are in Temple Wing and some require the use of internet.
The students union is okay but very small and consists of a bar and cafe. Compared to other uni’s SUs it’s very basic but it’s okay during freshers. The WiFi is okay but not amazing. There are some food places on campus.
Everything about the university is great with the exception that some of its societies are exceptionally toxic.
