My stay here has been nice. I expected my room to be a little bit bigger, but it works and is cozy. The elevators are slow sometimes. The location and services offered are great.

Some students choose to stay during the academic year, whilst others – particularly international students – require a tenancy that covers the entire year. You can also find student accommodation that is available for one or two terms, classified as a “short stay” on our search filters.
This is totally up to you! Catered accommodation means you will be served meals at set times in a dining hall, and you’ll likely have access to fewer kitchen facilities than if you were to stay in self-catered accommodation.
A guarantor is a person who signs a contract to agree to pay your rent if you are unable to. Most university accommodation requires a guarantor, and this applies to both domestic and international students.
Most likely, yes, you’ll need to pay a deposit. This will be refunded at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage to the room or property.
If you are staying in university-run accommodation or private halls, your rent should include any utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet. Students are not required to pay council tax, however you may need to fill in an exemption form so make sure you check with your local council.
Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) are residential buildings designed for students. They are often located close to campus, boast modern facilities, include all bills, and often have staff on site to assist residents.
Student accommodation is typically fully furnished. Your room should include at least a bed, clothes storage, desk and chair. You’ll likely need to bring things such as bedding and kitchen utensils, but we have a full list here of everything you’ll need.

The staff are the only thing that saves this property. I’ve been living here since September and since this time I’ve had : inadequate heating, inadequate hot water, no water at all, fridge broken so all my food melted and gave me food poisoning, bed collapsed so i slept on the floor for like 5 days, mould, silverfish, leaky taps, broken lamp, broken microwave, silverfish, clogged drains. The building itself is a construction site, with the reception and study room disappearing during exam season and the communal areas have offered no communal feel at all. The doors have randomly stopped walking forcing people to walk around the whole building to get to the lifts or even in the premises. The silver lining? The rent is going up to £470 a week for my room next year so I’m being priced out and living in a construction site for the remainder of the time I’m paying £406 a week.
Living at IQ Algate has been a blast! The staff and managers here are absolutely amazing. They're friendly, professional, and always go the extra mile. Whether it's a maintenance request or just a quick chat, they're there for you with a smile. The managers and assistant managers are incredible leaders, making this place feel like a tight-knit community. They organize fun events and listen to our feedback. I feel safe and cared for, thanks to their prompt and attentive service. If you're looking for a home with top-notch staff, IQ Algate is the place to be!
Very friendly staff at reception and a great manager
Good experiences, fair price, nice view at 15th floor
I recently stayed in a studio room at IQ Aldgate, and I was very pleased with my experience. The studio room itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed to make my stay enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette was well-equipped, and the bathroom was modern and clean. What really stood out to me, however, was the friendliness of the reception staff at IQ Aldgate. From the moment I arrived, they were welcoming and helpful, answering any questions I had and ensuring that I had everything I needed for my stay. They were always available to help out with any issues that arose, and I really appreciated their positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile. Overall, I had a great stay at IQ Aldgate, and I would highly recommend it to other students looking for a comfortable, convenient place to stay. The reception staff were a real highlight for me, and their kindness and helpfulness really made my stay enjoyable.
Location is convenient, but the design of the flats are ridiculous. I rent a silver plus studio, and the kitchenette doesn't have its own extractor hood so anytime you, or your neighbours, cook, the smells stays in your room for ages. There's not enough ventilation, constantly feels stuffy. Because of the location, opening the window means constantly smelling sewage, car exhaust and smoke. The staff are helpful enough. The laundry is run by Circuit so you know you're already going to lose money. Would recommend renting private or picking a better location.
